- Watch guest artists Jeff Zimmerman and James Mongrain work together to create one of the largest blown glass sculptures ever created in the Amphitheater Hot Shop.
Zimmerman’s work exploits the pushing, pulling, dripping, and spinning actions that glass goes through as it takes shape, resulting in work that echoes nature. Mongrain takes his inspiration from traditional Venetian goblet-making. Over the course of his career, he has focused on creating elegant vessels of many shapes, sizes and colors. Zimmerman and Mongrain have wanted to collaborate for a long time and will use this opportunity to pay tribute to their teachers in the Venetian tradition as well as the modernist abstraction that they create.

1:21:25 when the guy put the small ball into the annealing oven it rolled and plopped into another one and they closed it up anyway. Any way to find out if they ended up sticking together?
Good question! When we place pieces into the annealer, they're still hot, but not hot enough to fuse together. Thanks for watching!
Super cool, what exactly are they though? Are they abstractions? Almost looks like they could have lights placed inside of them.
That's exactly what they're planning on doing with them! These are lighting fixtures that will be on display at Art Basel Miami Design Week in December. Thanks for watching!
