Banana chips is popular in south India. I am in Karnataka. These banana chips are fried in coconut oil and are easily available at busstand shops. A small packet of about 100 gram is priced at Rs 30.

For all those complaining about hygiene, the banana chips are not touched after they are deep-fried in boiling oil, so I assume that the temperature of the oil would sterilise the chips and it will be safe to eat as long as you eat them right after they come out of the wok.
The temperature kills the bacteria, most cooking oils boil at >300 degrees Celcius, and most bacteria die at temperatures of >120 degrees Fahrenheit(48.9 degrees Celcius) and viruses are deactivated at temperatures of >212 degrees Fahrenheit(100 degrees Celcius), so I do not see how your point is valid. If you are so worried about the cleanliness of the food, then don’t eat it, nobody’s forcing you to do so.
