Absolutely gorgeous watch! Ever since I was a teenager watching videos on watches I could only dream of owning, this has been one I’ve thought about (thanks Archie). I was finally able to get my first love, a Pelagos, a few years ago, and looking for my second pick and this is a strong contender. Enjoy!
Congrats on the pickup. To me, it’s not only the best Breguet but it’s one of the best chronos you can get. I’d argue it’s a watch you can wear in almost any situation because the polishing makes it suitably dressy - if ever needed - but it’s a chrono so it’s inherently sporty. This model is the last, great Breguet Type XX. You’ll see these on the arms of educated collectors only occasionally, but not actually all that often…which adds to the appeal.
You are indeed a fortunate person being gifted a watch like this. Looks beautiful. Remember to put neutral (white) boot polish on the watch strap outer to begin with to 'cure' the crocodile leather, and to prevent wear and any chance of cracking. Something I learned from a great old gentleman watchmaker years ago.
getting a Breguet flyback chronograph in the Type XX line for that amount of money is absolute insanity. I recently got a Breitling Classic AVI P-51 for roughly the same amount and I kind of feel suicidal right now. I had no idea this was even a thing.
What a masterpiece! So unique and love that you have the no date. Way more interesting than any Speedy/Daytona a connoisseurs watch! Adding mine to the collection, next to the Submariner MK2 126610LV, 216570 Polar. GMT Chronograph Diver. Not really into dress pieces but this one leather strap looks stunning
That solid gold rolex needs a 10 inch golden cross, on a massive golden chain, golden teeth and a gypsy family with all women dressed in Lous Vuitton and Gucci. Gold!!! More gold!!!
Still can't get over the sharpness of the fluted bezel on that day date, but onto the subject at hand.... well I love your boss with the Zenith and now this friend. What a gift. It looks like it just left the showroom. I do love a watch in immaculate condition and clearly so do you. The dual is a thing of beauty with their wordmark being perhaps the most elegant on the market. Jaeger might come in just behind. Just one of those things I love about a dial. (or hate as the case may be ) I have tried on a type XXI, but it was quite large ...as was the price at the boutique, but this one is just perfection. I could gush for a while but congrats Diego. Your point about a comp between this and a modern 3861 just cannot be denied by a rational person, aside from perhaps an aesthetic preference. What a piece and you must love seeing it in your watchbox. P.S. the strap is a killer and it IS nice not being forced to the last hole eh?
Thanks for watching and the comment. A lot to unpack! If the XXI was too chunky for you, the XX will be perfect. They’re a little thick, but it’s done very elegantly. I’m so happy I went with an appropriately sized strap. It makes the wearing experience so much better. It almost makes the watch!
Soon as I saw this post in my feed I watched it, being a fan of this model. I have a Blancpain Leman which is also a black-faced flyback with luminescent arabic numerals. It looks very similar. They are also in a similar price range. I have a date window instead of your rotational bezel for a feature. I found the fly-back useful for timing the intervals of bubbles being produced at a critical stage during an alcohol brewing process. Do you know the frequency of your movement? Mine is 21600 VPH
Twenty is nor incorrect as it's just twenty written in Roman numerals to distinguish those civil chronos from the Type 20 made for the French Air Force. 20 = Military , XX = Civil market Both Twenty.
It does not have the gold cap, and hence it is not the 1st generation (which is the most collectible). When the watch was sent to Breguet for service, they may replace the gold cap with a SS cap if the original cap was scratched or damaged.
That is one hell of a classy watch! Congrats. Do you know the serving costs? Asking for a friend 🤔 another state of the collection soon please! You have one of the best collections in my humble opinion
Thanks for watching! Not sure what the service costs would be, but I imagine it can’t be that bad. I’m holding out for a specific watch this year. Once I get it, we’ll do another one!
@ Good, I’m interested. I have a new-to-me Type XX that needs a couple of links and until those appear I’m limited to straps, particularly the original. Now, if I could just figure out how to take the conversation private.
@@RobinHood-us7sg hopefully my next video is unboxing a new Patek! Beyond that, maybe a video showing what I look for condition wise when buying old Rolex. No new purchases as of yet!
Buy the original not the copy. Hanhard produced under the name VIXA pilot watches for the french air force. These were based on the Type XX standard. Breguet is only one of several watch companies which provided this type to the french air force. But marketing and nowadays influencer give you the impression as if they invented this watch type.

Congrats on the Pelagos! Which version did you get? The Type XX is an often forgotten watch, but at its price point, it’s hard to beat.
Diego is cool. Good to see you. I subscribed. You are a good person. Miss you daily on the stream.
Thanks for watching. I'll be doing livestreams on here going forward (no specific schedule, just when I'm up to it).

Making me want to wear it! Plenty of meat on the sides…

They’re some of the best bargains out there in my opinion! Don’t feel bad though, the Breitling AVI lineup is incredible!
Very cool. Great job!
Thanks bud!

It’s a mix of dress and sport. Absolutely loving this watch. Thanks for watching!
Interesting .. its like Patek in that the end of the strap gores the other way and is not at the top of the wrist but rather the bottom
Yes! Many brands do this. Patek, Breguet, JLC, etc.

Haha. Thanks for watching.
You seem to be gifted quite a few watches. I need to hangout with rich friends!
Thanks for watching.
The new Talking Hands! Beautiful watch! I've been considering one of these ever since I saw one in person. Enjoy!
They’re a great value! Thanks for watching.
Great video Diego, what state in US are you from?
Thanks for watching. I’m in Georgia.

Beautiful watch but I still love my Daytonas. I have heard that the service costs are high? Keep up the good work!
Appreciate it!
stunning watch! I need one of these....legendary manufacturer. Congrats!
Thanks man! Yea, they’re relatively cheap!

Would love more watch videos from you, you could really blow up this channel with more frequent posts! Subscribed by the way 👍🏻
Thanks for the inspiration. Haven’t gotten any watches since, but maybe can do some unboxings of old ones.

Blancpains are great! I’m not sure about the frequency though of my Breguet. Appreciate you watching!
@@TheRealOriginalDiegoM Your movement (calibre 582) is a higher frequency. 28800 VPH

Both Twenty.
Thank you for the feedback!
Great piece Diego, my grail chrono is the el primero, cheers from Blighty
Let me know when you get one. They’re great!
Very nice piece! Congrats! After owning it for a while now, have you changed your mind about it? Does the thickness bother you at all?
I still love it as much as the day I got it. The thickness doesn’t bother me at all. You get the beautiful coin edge case side to look at.

Beautiful watch, I love the big eye!... Does the fly back function also resets the minutes and hours chronograph counter as well? good show friend!
Thanks for the comment. Yes, Flyback resets everything.
Nice vid Diego. Hope to see you in Vegas.
Thanks for watching! We shall see (crazy prices and watch time nyc is the week before).
Beautiful watch, looks brand new!
I bought the new Type xx but must admit the 3800ST talks more to me. Btw, great review!
