Haha! Yes! Bill Pullman so often plays the nice guy who doesn't get the girl or the nice "other" guy the audience isn't rooting for (like in Sleepless in Seattle or A League of Their Own). So, with this movie, it was nice to see him actually get to be the main love interest for once! ☺I had similar thoughts about James Marsden in 27 Dresses (not as good a movie but, he has a similar career of playing the nice "other" guy with only one movie as the exception).
I'm a 56 year old straight man, former military, former prison officer...and romantic comedies are some of my favourite movies. I love this one and even though I've seen it probably 7 times, it still makes me laugh, swoon and even cry. Sandra Bulloch is my favourite actress and I fall in love with her all over again every time I watch one of her movies. She always comes across as just so sweet and classy. The story in this movie was very well written and from someone who grew up in a big family, but is now alone, I can really appreciate how Lucy felt.
Yeah I feel there's some sort of taboo about us admitting we love romantic comedies but heck this is the internet, I fully admit I rewatch many romantic comedies, especially today when the cinemas are full of superhero movies and I can't find anything new to watch.

@@lilmoonbaby6 Yeah, I would never ever get their faces confused! But, I think most of time it's just people getting their names mixed-up. Paxton and Pullman sound just similar enough to get switched up in the brain.

Absolutely!!! I keep making lists in my head of movies they need to see, and Tootsie is right up there. I had an aunt who was a nun. On her vacation she and a couple of other nuns went to see that movie. She told my parents that they kept their laughter fiercely contained until they left the theater, because they didn't want to look unseemly laughing at some bits, but it was hard because it was so FUNNY!
@@NavvyMom Thank you for sharing this story. TOOTSIE is one of the funniest movies. I love how you don't know how it's going to end. They did a hilarious job.

Return to Me! Almost forgot about that one! Such a great plot and wonderful acting. Minnie Driver gets a heart transplant and then meets David Duchovny. Turns out she had received his late wife's heart. Duchovny's acting, especially in the scenes where he's trying to cope after his wife died, was superb. And the wonderful Carrol O'Connor played Driver's dad. Wonderful film!❤❤

I 💕 Food Rush In. RIP Matthew Perry. Fools Rush In had me obsessed with Gray Papaya's 🌭 in my teens & early 20' s. My father always loved a great deal so after our 1st visit we would never visit NYC without visiting the now closed West Village location. Good times 😊
I third this one!!! I just watched it again right after Matthew Perry died. RIP 💔 Of course, I've probably seen it at least a dozen times or more! 😂❤❤❤
The grandmother is the actress Glynis John who passed last month at the age of 100. You might know her from another movie Mary Poppins. In that, she played the mother of the children.
Yes! I'd watch anything with Hugh Jackman. Also looking for someone to mention "Someone Like You." Another good romcom he did. That might be the second movie I saw him in after the first X-Men movie.
Two more Sandra Bullock films that you should try are “Hope Floats”(another 90s rom-com with Harry Connick Jr.) and “The Lake House”(really cool time-travel romance with Keanu Reeves)! ❤
Oh, you just reminded me of one of my favorite rom-coms, ABOUT TIME, with Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machinaj, and Rachel McAdams. Unfortunately Jay and Amber may never review this gem of a movie because it’s a sleeper that flew too far under the radar to get the recognition and praise it deserves. Bill Nighy is so good in serious roles that he surprises me everytime he’s in a comedic role. He not only plays the father with perfect dry humor in ABOUT TIME, but a hitman in another quirky rom-com with Emily Blunt called Wild Target. I think it was the first time I’d seen Emily in a dark comedy and it sealed her as one of my favorite actresses.
This is one of my favorites! I watch it at least once a year, usually around Christmas. It just makes my heart happy and Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman are fantastic!!
High Society (1956) is one movie I know you would LOVE!!!!! Although it's too old to have been considered a rom-com, it does fit the description, with the added bonus of FABULOUS music throughout. Thinking that might be an overstatement? Just consider the main stars -- Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, & Louis Armstrong, & Grace Kelly -- an actress with a long career as successful as she was beautiful. Still, she left Hollywood after this movie to marry royalty & became Princess Grace of Monaco. Watch High Society as soon as you can. You'll be so glad you did!!! BTW - You reacted to at least one of the songs from the movie (duet with Bing & Louis called Now You Has Jazz) on your music channel & you loved that then. Seeing the whole thing will just make you love it even more!
Two lesser known rom-coms that I think are fantastic: 1. "French Kiss" with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline 2. "Only You" with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
The grandmother, Glynis Johns, is the mother in the original Mary Poppins! Unfortunately, she passed away in January. Brilliant actress. She is also famous for originally sing the song Bring In The Clowns on Broadway.
"Roxanne" 1987, starring Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah is a wonderful rom-com take on the Cyrano de Bergerac story. Very sweet, very funny ugly ducking love story. Another great rom-com with Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks and John Candy is Splash (1982).
I love, love, love this movie. It's such a fun, feel good film. I love the scene where Lucy is celebrating Christmas with Peter's family. You can see the joy in her face as she is a part of a family again.
Jack Warden was the actor who played Peter's godfather. I saw him in a lot of old black and white movies. He was in a movie called Donavon's Reef with John Wayne and Lee Marvin. That was one of my favorites growing up in the 60s.. ❤
This one is in our Christmas stack of discs to watch every year. You two need to watch "You've Got Mail." If you've only seen Sandra in Blindside...then try "Demolition Man" and "Speed" and "Miss Congeniality." And you should also try "Singles." Oh, and Bill Pullman is not in the movie "Twister."
I'd like to recommend a couple of classic Rom-Coms: 'Roman Holiday', 1953, with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, Hepburn's first film for which she one an Oscar. 'Sabrina', 1954, with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, be sure to watch the original, not the 1995 remake. 'The African Queen', 1951, with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn (the other Hepburn), this one has the advantage of also being a bit of an action movie.
If you love Goldie Hawn.. you will love "Housesitter". It also has Steve Martin. A fantastic rom com. I also LOVE Overboard. My Best Friend's Wedding is another great one. Love watching you guys. So joyous. Puts me in a good mood. Thanks.
I'm really not into rom-coms but this movie is just fantastic, Sandra Bullock is great as always and I think Bill Pullman is a very under-rated actor, they worked together very well in this
While You Were Sleeping is definitely one of my favorites and this reaction was so fun to watch!! Another recommendation for a great romcom is How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Also - another Sandra Bullock movie I think you would both like is Speed. It’s an action movie and also stars Keanu Reeves.
This was the number one movie on the day I was born 😊 Also my family quotes this movie all the time. “These mashed potatoes are so creamy”… “hey Luce, this guy bothering you? Cause it looks like he’s.. leaning”.
This is one of my top 10s in two different lists: Romantic comedies, and Christmas movies. Fantastic movie, and I'm so glad you guys got to experience it. This is peak Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman at his best, and has an amazing supporting cast.
This one is my favorite movie of all time. My mother and I watched this together. Watching movies together was our favorite time together. When Harry Met Sally is in the top 5. You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and the miniseries Pride and Prejudice make up the complete top 5. Thank you for watching this one!
Sandra Bullock is one of my favorites BECAUSE of this movie right here. One of my all time favorites because the family is so real and lovable ❤ and hilarious 😂
Yayayay!! Oh I love that you loved this one. It’s been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I watch it every Christmas, usually when I’m putting up the tree, and I often find myself reciting the lines because I’ve seen it so many times. When I met my husband, I found out this was his favorite Christmas movie too and now it’s a tradition for us to watch together every year. The family is a treasure and I love their banter. If you haven’t watched You’ve Got Mail, it’s another one with a good balance of comedy and feels. It’s my forever favorite over all other movies.
The grandmother was Glynis Johns who passed away not that long ago after along and distinguished television and movie career. On IMDB, her first credit is from 1938.
My favorite Rom-Coms star either Sandra Bullock or JLo or Julia Roberts. Sandra in The Proposal and in Two Weeks Notice. Lopez in Maid in Manhattan and The Wedding Planner, and Julia in Runaway Bride and My Best Friend's Wedding. And one that has to be seen because it is an Oscar winner but a Romance at heart, Moonstruck with Cher and Nicholas Cage.
Since you loved this one, I highly recommend "Return to Me" starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. It's a film that gets overlooked far too often and is one of my favorite rom-coms (and I'm a guy). "Return to Me" has an incredible cast of characters and excellent writing (as well as a unique concept).
Bill Pullman (Jack) was in Sleepless in Seattle as Walter. He was in other films like Spaceballs, Independence Day, and A League of Their Own. Elsie, the Grandma, was played by Glynis Johns, an English actress. She mainly did stage work, but one movie she did is a classic...Walt Disney's Mary Poppins, as the suffragette mother of the kids Mary Poppins looks after.
My favorite rom/com is The Goodbye Girl, from about 1978, starring Richard Dreyfuss, who you guys will remember from Jaws, he won the Oscar that year for his role in the film.
Sandra Bullock brings kind of the same energy to most of her films. Star presence, I guess? Anyway, if you like one of her movies, you'll probably like most of her movies. She's excellent at awkward moments that have comedic potential. That's her wheelhouse. Also, you guys shouldn't be scared of eggnog. It has almost 100% the same ingredient list as vanilla ice cream. You just drink it instead of eating it frozen.
How wonderful! I love this movie! I can recommend 'The Court Jester' (1955) with Glynis Johns, Danny Kaye and Angela Lansbury, also 'How to Steal a Million' (1966) with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole - greetings from Australia! Karen 🌷
Hint, Bill was your favorite American President fighting aliens alongside Will Smith. He was a ghostly dad in Casper, and a very intense serious actor in a recent psychological television series . Women fell in love with his iconic humour, charming smile, and the shy the little head tilt. His comedy timing in Space Balls is iconic. Love this era of romcom's. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
This movie's plot is thicker than Peter's eyebrows! lol It's one of my FAVORITE movies - especially at Christmas time - and I'm SOOOO glad it's starting to get the glory it deserves. It's kinda weird, though, for people to associate Sandra Bullock as a serious actress because (at first) she was exclusively comedy. In fact, Speed was the "vehicle" for us movie goers to see Keanu and Sandra as serious actors! But, i LOVE Sandra in comedies - Two Weeks Notice is hilarious, as is The Proposal and Miss Congeniality. I haven't seen it in awhile to say if it's great or not, but one of her first movies is a comedy called Love Potion #9 (based on the song). i LOVE Bill Pullman, too. He played Lone Star in Space Balls, he was in Lake Placid, a League of Their Own, and was the President on Independence Day. For Halloween, you could watch him in Casper and/or The Grudge!
Egg nog is really, really good. What google says What does eggnog taste like? It's sweet, rich, and very creamy. Think of a glass of custard or melted vanilla ice cream! But it also has a slightly spiced flavor thanks to the cinnamon and nutmeg.
You would not be the first ones to confuse Bill Pullman (While You Were Sleeping., Spaceballs, Independence Day) with Bill Paxton (Twister, Aliens, True Lies).
I love this as a bit of redemption for Bill Pullman after his Walter lost his Annie in Sleepless in Seattle
Sandra Bullock is a step up from Meg Ryan, just my preference tho! 😂
Good callback!
That's how I felt when this movie came out too. 😊 Bill Pullman finds his true love too, ❤️

Great suggestion ❤😊❤
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal is EPIC. A must watch!
One of my favorite rom coms is The Mirror Has Two Faces with Barbra Streisand and Jeff Beidges
That's a good movie. On a Clear Day You Can See Forever is another rom com gem Barbra made that's worth watching. :)
I love how Jay said "It's the Natalie Cole Version" growth is amazing
Fun movie! “Fools Rush In” is my favorite Rom-Com!🤘🔥
I second this one!
I third this one!!! I just watched it again right after Matthew Perry died. RIP 💔 Of course, I've probably seen it at least a dozen times or more! 😂❤❤❤
Somewhere in Time great movie not a rom-com, but a love story with a twist staring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymore. ❤️😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That's a beautiful romantic movie.
My top two favourite Sandra Bullock movies are The Net (suspenseful thriller) - and Miss Congeniality (hilarious comedy)
The grandmother is the actress Glynis John who passed last month at the age of 100. You might know her from another movie Mary Poppins. In that, she played the mother of the children.
"Kate and Leopold" from 2001 with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman is an often forgotten great rom-com. would highly recommend it.
Yes! I'd watch anything with Hugh Jackman.
Also looking for someone to mention "Someone Like You." Another good romcom he did. That might be the second movie I saw him in after the first X-Men movie.
Aw. Kate and Leopold is great too!
Practical Magic with Sandra and Nicole Kidman! Love it and the music!
Two more Sandra Bullock films that you should try are “Hope Floats”(another 90s rom-com with Harry Connick Jr.) and “The Lake House”(really cool time-travel romance with Keanu Reeves)! ❤
Another yes for 'The Lake House'.
Seconding ‘Hope Floats’ as it is such an underrated movie!
@@rosanajaquez3274Yes! I liked that one too. I like Harry Connick Jr. Such a nice guy.
@@NavvyMom I agree! He did a good job as Justin Matisse. And I loved Gena Rowlands as Birdie’s mom.❤️
This is a great movie, I would also recommend Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny
Two lesser known rom-coms that I think are fantastic:
1. "French Kiss" with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline
2. "Only You" with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
I think it was Mary Stuart Masterson in Only You
The grandmother, Glynis Johns, is the mother in the original Mary Poppins!
One of my favorite Rom Coms. Another you may like is “The Last Holiday” with Queen Latifa. Another of my favorites.
Oh yeah, they'll really love Demolition Man with Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, in it. :D
I'd like to recommend a couple of classic Rom-Coms:
'Roman Holiday', 1953, with Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, Hepburn's first film for which she one an Oscar.
Love Sabrina
If you love Goldie Hawn.. you will love "Housesitter". It also has Steve Martin. A fantastic rom com. I also LOVE Overboard. My Best Friend's Wedding is another great one. Love watching you guys. So joyous. Puts me in a good mood. Thanks.
Feels like Housesitter doesn't get enough love and attention. I love that movie.
@@jesmasa1 Agree! I love Housesitter. :D
Private Benjamin is great
This is my absolute favorite movies. I have seen it countless times and I never get tired of it. So glad you reacted to it.
Moonstruck moonstruck moonstruck
I second this, such a brilliant film
🌙❤🌙❤🌙❤🌙❤
The Proposal, Miss congeniality, serendipity, Ever After with Drew Barrymore, are few of my favorite rom com movies
Another film you both would love from this genre is "Return to Me". Dean Martin is part of the soundtrack. The supporting cast is hysterical.
French kiss! With Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline.
My favorite rom-com is by far "The Proposal" from 2009. You can't go wrong with Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Betty White!
Another rom-com that has a great family feeling is Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny. That movie also takes place in Chicago.
This movie is my Christmas Tradition.
Three 90’s Sandra Bullock favorites of mine are Speed (a must see with Keanu Reeves), Hope Floats and Practical Magic.
Sandra Bullock is one of my favorites BECAUSE of this movie right here. One of my all time favorites because the family is so real and lovable ❤ and hilarious 😂
One of my favorites! Now -- you have GOT to watch HouseSitter with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin. You will adore that one! :)
Jack , played by Bill Pullman, you saw him in Lake Placid and Space Balls!!And Sleepless in Seattle!!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading that. 🙂
One of my favorites. Also, I love The Proposal with Sandra Bullock.
Walk in the Clouds with Keanu Reeves... a hidden gem!! And The Lake House - Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves
For some reason, your comment reminded me they need to see Brigadoon ... set in Scotland, musical romantic comedy ... they'll love it! :)
Fun fact: the grandma is the mom from Mary Poppins! Haha, I adore this one. It's one of my absolute favorites.
Glynis Johns (the Grandma) also played Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins. This is one of the best rom coms of all time.
The guy Sandra ended up marrying was in Sleepless In Seattle.
Another good Rom-Com is You've Got Mail.
We need some You've Got Mail one day.
Yes! Absolutely!
The grandmother was Glynis Johns who passed away not that long ago after along and distinguished television and movie career. On IMDB, her first credit is from 1938.
Since Amber feels so strongly about “tradition”, please watch “Fiddler on the roof”.
Yes! Return to Me is another great movie that the Rob Squad would love . . .
Glad you loved this! Can't wait for you to watch Fried Green Tomatoes
My favorite rom/com is The Goodbye Girl, from about 1978, starring Richard Dreyfuss, who you guys will remember from Jaws, he won the Oscar that year for his role in the film.
And Love Potion No. 9!!! My first Sandra Bullock movie! Hilarious!
This is my absolute favorite rom-com! I'm so glad you reacted to it!
Fools Rush In is one of my favorite underrated rom coms.
I can’t believe they haven’t done Moonstruck. We could even count it as another movie about brothers.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding is absolutely hilarious, the big Greek family is on the ground cracking up funny.
THE NEXT SHOULD BE "RETURN TO ME". I promise you will love it.
This is one of my favourite films. I used the rent this from the video shop every week 😂
Egg nog is really, really good. What google says What does eggnog taste like? It's sweet, rich, and very creamy. Think of a glass of custard or melted vanilla ice cream! But it also has a slightly spiced flavor thanks to the cinnamon and nutmeg.
& Rum. 😁
This is one of my top-ten favorite movies. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You would not be the first ones to confuse Bill Pullman (While You Were Sleeping., Spaceballs, Independence Day) with Bill Paxton (Twister, Aliens, True Lies).
