    So far, I have used my Sundays here to progress on uni homework, going to museums, and going to flea markets. Well, these last two weeks, I've been to various Christmas markets.

    Hey Jen, theres another quite known amusement park called Heide Park in Soltau, like 3 hrs from Düsseldorf 😊 And theres even a hotel where you can stay within the park where you can stay if you come from far away😊😊

    Another 'hot tip' for emergency grocery shopping is going to the "Tankstelle". I do that sometimes if I forget 1 or 2 products. Too expensive for regular shopping though.

    Also you can go to Christmas market, Schützenfest or what ever in your area is on this weekend.
    You can look for Cars sometimes, they are open in the morning...
    You can make Party or BBQ. And if you do not have beer and Wurst, and even no BBQ-Grill, go to the Späti, Kiosk (depends of the area, or go to the Gas-Station, where you'll find all you need :)
    The last point was often a Question in France, what do you do, if you are out of food...

    Oh wie schön, dass Ihr auf meine Kritik an dem Satz "everything is closed on Sundays", den ich schon bei vielen Immigranten kritisiert habe, sogar in einem ganzen Video eingegangen seid.
    Ich freue mich! 😀
    Ich möchte noch einiges ergänzen:
    Viele Deutsche, bes.
    Überhaupt hat eigentlich alles geöffnet, was Spaß macht.

    Twice out of three times I happened to land in Germany on a Sunday. Oh, the quietness! When I was walking certain streets and many businesses door to door in a row were closed I had the chance to actually see the more relaxed pace, people-wise; also maybe remember something which is closed, but return there on another weekday. Much appreciated you read that article 140 of the Grundgesetz, it's been talked about and mentioned, so here you also delve into how it relates to your personal experience. About museums, definitely a few come into mind and hey are spectacular from what I know. And Jen, of course you can say Verkaufsoffener Sonntag, I said it.. at the second and a half try. 😂

      When I land even in usual day in Germany it's awkwardly siletnt! Especially in airports, really feel not comfortable as everyone hears my stomach, this happens even in the street :D I mean I was not expecting Munich to be so quiet

    You forgot to point out that most 24h gas stations have many things available for purchase at any time, but at vastly inflated prices. Another option is the "Spätkauf", which exists in many larger cities.

    I laughed out loud, when I heard the word Verkaufsoffener Sonntag. ;-) It doesn't mean a lot to me and I live close enough to the Dansih border, that I could cross the border to go shopping. Or a little closer by the small towns that have sunday open grocery-stores. But I do understand that to be able to go shopping on a day with a lot of time at hand is nice! Thank you for your very entertaining and very informative content that you bring on mondays!:D

    I am all with Yvonne regarding Freizeitparks ... unless you have to entertain little children you really want to avoid these places.
    If a city name has gotten the prefix "Bad" that doesn't mean that its really a bad place 🤣, it means that it qualifies for a "Kurort" and the mentioned rules apply - certain places are open on Sundays as well. On the other hand some traditional Kurorte don't have the prefix but are also official Kurorte, which is slightly confusing but nice to keep the name short.

    I think the clarification of the German Sunday, on which everything is supposedly closed, was important. Otherwise, foreign countries will get a completely wrong picture. You can do practically everything except shopping. If most people look around their accommodation, they will probably see enough useless stuff that they have wasted money on.

    Today was my literally first sunday in Germany and in Düsseldorf and found that Germany is shutdown on sundays was myth. I went for a walk in beautiful park "Ballonwies Im Volksgarten" . Lot of people where having picnic and enjoying music. All most all restaurant's where open. few small shop where also open. Walked by one of the spa which was open. Only supermarkets where closed and i guess rest all most everything was open.

    • @simplegermany

  • @Ringelsocke.

    Famous sport on Sundays is extreme couching. (Kautsching) 🤪
    OK, Berlin has the Extrawurst with Öffnungszeiten, but I don't tell me there are no Spätis in Düsseldorf! 😱
    Jen, you said the Umlaute are a problem and Brötchen seemed to be difficult to say - but you can say Düsseldorf a few times in a row like a pro! 😂😂

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hehehe Kautsching 😅 The problems with the Umlaute happens when there is an R involved 🙈

      I think you don't need to put your finger on the few things that you can't get right yet. Change your view on all the things you already accomplished!
      Umlaute with r involved are just little Stolpersteine.
      Use the Öffentliche for 1 hour and listen to the people around your age and younger. A lot were born in Germany! and cannot speak a straight sentence!
      (Or even a second or third language!)

    • @fannychristozova8158
      @fannychristozova8158 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Ringelsocke. Sounds quite sad your latter observation. However, I can relate. So many (grown up) people from my home country Bulgaria still view proper writing and speaking - of the mother tongue, as some kind of nerdy nonsense, which has loong been out of 'fashion'. Never considering to put a capital letter to start a sentence or other basic rules. You kind of guess what they mean to say (when asking for help in fb groups). No German, no English either... And those are the ones who go to Germany the fastest! Oh, and your point about the Umlaute is very good!🙂Funny enough I don't have a problem pronuncing them correctly, of all things learning German.. I also speak French after all. 😂

      I get that the youth is talking a kind of slang to each other. Every generation has that. And as you mentioned: capital letters or not, punctuation, the use of verbes... and of course grammar... 😱😱😱 Horrible!
      Of course not *all* the kids or younger people talk or write like that, but enough to be used as an example for e.g. Jen, not to criticise herself too much on the little things, when she already mastered the rest.

    • @fannychristozova8158
      @fannychristozova8158 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ringelsocke. Very very well said! I congratulate you! Jen is just fine! She keeps creating fun at her expense every now and then, but she has indeed mastered.. 5 languages I think. (or six, I don't mean to make a mistake here)😅So about the younger generations and slang, I don't quite mind that. A language is like a living creature, it literally breathes and moves! At about every two decades any language changes, so that for 10 mins straight of speaking to each other two neighboring decades would have a few 'huh?' moments along the way. And that's only the breathing part of it, but what I was whining about is illiteracy. The illness of a language's "lungs". And I like your humor! 😄Grammar is and will always be meant to be Horrible! 😱😱😱
