I always feel bad when I see handmade items at thrift stores, too. If you want a reason to not come home with them though, the way I think about it is if its something I can make/ not my vibe, leaving it behind means that someone who wants those handmade items but doesn't have the skills (or loved ones with the skills) they are able to get them at an affordable price. It's not abandoning a handmade item someone put a lot of care into, its leaving the opportunity for someone else to get to experience the handmade items when they might not have otherwise.
My southern heart is okay with not having snow. Subdivision well? The plates are fantastic! Eating the wreath sounds like dog puke waiting to happen. Love the happy dance.
I'm so glad Sandy by the lakeside turned me on to you,our family has had a tragedy happen recently and your laughter has added a much needed sparkle to my life thank you so much!!!!
no. 1, im so sorry that this season isn’t feeling as joyous and i hope that your family is on its way to healing. ❤️ no. 2, pls know that im the same level of ridiculous every day so if you ever need a pick-me-up, im your girl 😂😘
I’m not really into vlogmas and have skipped watching most of the videos coming into my subscriber feed, BUT I am hooked on yours. I love seeing the joy in your home and seeing the real bits. Happy to be a crafty cousin.
The stockings turned out beautifully! I would have bought that granny blanket, too. I am a menace in a thrift store. I just scored a *floor length* black leather coat. I call it my vampire slayer coat, lol.
Aw, lovely. ❤ The vlogging in public gets me always. It’s the being perceived for me by others I really don’t enjoy when it’s strangers. It helped me some (back when I vlogged) to make believe I was out with a friend. 😉 I’d love to go thrifting in some of the US thrifts I’ve seen. Your stockings turned out so wonderful! 😀
You brighten my day. I look forward to your videos every day. Thank you for taking the time to share and for being authentic. That authenticity will be a help to others who struggle silently with their emotions and anxiety and maybe feel like they are alone in that. Stay strong and know that your joy on camera is being felt and appreciated this season.
YES! Those plate-bowls. We love them too. The store where we bought ours called them "vegetable bowls." Congrats on your thrifted stuff! And those gorgeous stockings! (And, I love your tree!)
Ahhh!!! I'm soo excited the stockings came out so good!! I have to say you are my favorite vlogmas ❤❤. Your family is so fun and sweet and Stanley steals the show every time 😂😂.
OKAY.... so I started watching this video and 2 minutes in I had to stop..... You're so freaking adorable that I have to start back at day 1. So I'll be back when I've watched your entire VLOGMAS up to this point!!!! See you soon!!! Keep being your precious self!!!
I am all smiles for your stockings!!! You did it! Your crafty cousin here is headed to Goodwill tomorrow. Thanks for the tip. I know I keep saying it but I really love your vlogmas!
I found a crocheted throw blanket made out of alpaca at the thrift store. I paid like $6 for a significantly more valuable blanket. Not only the cost of the yarn but also the time it took to craft it. Its beautiful and treasured and I pretend it was a gift from the ancestors lol
The plates are absolutely perfect and hilarious! I'm so happy for you that the stockings turned out this well! I'm sure you can make those other two happen too :) I would really like to see (and be able to receive) the tutorial on how you're making the scarf! I really want to try linnen stitch at some point myself.
Ahh! The stockings turned out AWESOME! I can't wait to see what the decorating of them turns out like. As you illustrated with the Christmas thrifting, crafty cousins go hard with the Christmas vibes. Also, I feel like those plates need their own Xzibit meme: "YO DAWG I HEARD YOU LIKE BOWS".
regarding the sticker complaint - i agree! but what irritates me even more is knowing that we do indeed have updated sticker technology, yet we aren't using it! at my local library, they use stickers to indicate who the holds belong to, and they're very easy (and satisfying!) to peel off the spines of whatever you're checking out. every time my partner and i go to pick up our books, we always complain about the fact that companies don't use the same kinda stickers for their products.
I love watching your videos, you're so cheerful and your laugh is just infectious. Im so glad your stockings came out well! Youve got me wanting to knit one for my daughter and embroider her initial on it...but I gotta finish this christmas sweater first lol.
So thankful Sandy by the Lakeside suggested your podcast. I truly enjoy you sharing your family and knitting with me. Please take this as a suggestion. I gasp and said OMG! when you but your wool knitted socks in the washers. I was always taught when felting wool in my washing machine always put the knitted wool items in a zippered pillowcase bag pinned shut, then put them in the washer as to not let the fuzz and lint from the wool get caught and break the washer. (I was afraid you were going to break your washer!) I was so happy to see you can felt in a front-loading washer. Then I throw in old t-shirts and towels. I have felted purses and bags. When I take them out of the washer, I insert rolled towel to help shape them. You could do this with your stocking. Thanks so much for your New Years Eve suggestions. I look forward to seeing much more of you!
omg this is INCREDIBLY helpful. would you mind terribly if i shared this comment in a future vlog? i wanna make sure i don’t lead people down a path of broken washers 😂
I’m going to try and make my 2 oldest boys new stockings. May the forces be with me cause I’m not a super fast knitter so I see a lot of sleepless nights in my near future 😂
when you were talking about recording in public, it made me think that if you were to pretend an out-of-state family member wanted to help you pick out a gift for a mutual friend it might be easier. she's in a different time zone, she has to see everything you see so you can decide together. it'd be like shopping while on facetime with family or a friend.
idk if you have tried the walkers brand of shortbread but they sell it at target and it is hands down the best shortbread i’ve ever had. it’s the real deal from scotland
Just wanted to comment about your filming in public. I think so many people are familiar with vlogmas and TH-cam channels in general that most people know why you’re filming. If I see someone filming in public, I look at them because I’m trying to see if I recognize them as someone I follow! I also approached someone last month whose husband was filming and asked for her TH-cam name so I could follow her. So try not to think people are staring because they think you’re weird.

My Oma used to put shelled nuts in a bowl almost identical to that. Along side a functioning nutcracker is perfection. Also yes to the oranges
This was pure joy! Yay for the felted stocking success. Completely cracked me UP with the Christmas Barfed-On-These-Plates set. LOL

Needed this today. Just finished a Salter beanie for my mother in four days and my hands are on fire. 🔥 ❤

All those Christmas plates and mugs are adorable ! I absolutely love those type of kitchey / vintagey things, mugs especially !
the festive happiness they brought me?!? i was struggling not to do weird happy dances to the 80s music inside of the thrift store

I love the stockings!! They turned out beautiful!
Plate bowls are number 1.
Overalls are my favorite garment. They never look bad. Please make a tutorial or a pattern of the linen stitch scar
they’re my all-time fav garment! (def adding the tutorial to my shot list for today!)
Yay! The stockings look fabulous!
i’m SOO proud of them 🥲

Hi Kayla! My partner is a sound tech and he said he might be able to help you set up your mic if you still needed it. Lmk!
You get marks and spencers in American supermarkets?! It's the posh people food shop here in the UK😂
it’s only available at our Target superstores… so basically a posh a grocery store anyway 😂
