I had the great privilege to see, hear, and play the 3/34 rank instrument in the Harold Lloyd estate after Harold's passing. It includes the Duo-Art player in the console.

Despite this being about one particular organ, this is by far the best video on Aeolian history available on the web. Thank you for your effort! I’ll be reviewing this often.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have loved listening to the recordings of this organ. Cantique de Noel is my favorite. And listening to the clarinet and harp never gets old. Please continue to post video's.

Thanks for the kind words. In the works now is a video about how the Aeolian Duo Art system actually works. We are attempting to do it as a five minute presentation...the facts will sail by quickly.

Your video's have helped me with a goal that that would love to have an organ at my house. I don't get to play many pipe organs. So having one at home like you have would be dream come true. I look forward to the next video.

A simply WONDERFUL production, and one likely to be of interest to all lovers of the organ and products of the Aeolian company. Two questions in my mind though: why did it take me so long to find this? and who WAS the young chap playing the Robert Morton theatre instrument?!

Why it took you so long, I don't know. The talented organist just happened to be visiting from England and offered his services. Quite good don't you think?

Nicely done video. I see where one of those Aeolians ended up in a church in my old home town of Webster, NY. Think I may have heard it once.

So very ironic to me to learn the history of Opus 1280. You see in the early 1960’s I was in high school in Morristown, NJ. The high school had an Aeolian installed in the auditorium. The original installation was in a mansion in the center of town, which became the town hall and the owner donated it to the high school soon after its original installation. But the irony does not stop there. Convent Station, where the Stewart residence was located is a suburb of Morristown, yet I never knew of this installation. But not more than a half mile from the station was the Hamilton Twombly estate. There was a very large Aeolian with the external player installed there and I spent much time working with Bruce Courter on that instrument. We got it back into a reasonable playing condition, but alas Fairleigh Dickinson college was the new owner of the estate and after all the work it was sold and removed. All of this a literal stones throw away from 1280 and we never knew it.

Any information on the Aeolian organ Helen Gould had installed in Lyndhurst? It's a rather awkward installation the bass pipes stick up through the floor next to the console

I have no information. All I know is that she bought two Aeolian organs on the same day. I own the other one. In his book about Aeolian organs, Rollin Smith states the console at Lyndhurst was moved.

Excellent presentation! Do you have any more videos of the organ playing when it was in the Stewart home?

Sorry I did not reply at the time of your question. No, there is no useable footage from the prior installation. We did record a few minutes of music as the instrument was tested before purchase. But it was in sad shape--the blower was stuck in the start mode and thus the organ was grossly underwinded.
