Me and my dad drive to fields on hot days to look for dust devils, the biggest I've seen was about 50 feet wide. It's pretty rare to see one, but when you do it's really cool and fascinating.
Wow, you have outdone yourself in this one Michael! This is perfectly put together and so overwhelmingly satisfying to watch! Wonderful, simply wonderful!
I feel like you could do a deep-dive video about dust devils. Why do they form? Why are they so prolific in Eastern Washington? Are there other places they develop so frequently? What hazard(s) do they pose? How big can they get? I have so many questions.
I live in New Mexico and Roswell has a TON of dust devils. When we were going to Roswell a dust devil formed and hit our car! And btw I saw 2 big ones it was crazy.
When I was in elementary school on the playground a dust devil came through and was blowing sand around and the sand hit me in the legs while I was on the wall. The wall is where you go if you're bad on the playground. The sand hurt!
I think the left side is cooler air getting sucked in, which does not lift the dust higher upward, but still makes it spiral around on the ground. I have also seen a firetornado footage with a very simular effect, but much more spectacular, which was on a hill next to a part of vegetation which had not burnt up yet. So from that side there where also no flames, and from below, going around the vegatation, a lot of cool air flew inward, while from the other side where everything was burning a huge wall of fire was drawn inward into the fire tornado, quite spectecular, like a miniature cold front, spiraling around the core of the rotation. This was probably what gave it most of it's power as well.

I've never thought dry plowed fields of eastern Washington could be beautiful until I saw your films of these devils. I just love them.
Excellent!

1:39 the dust on the left side of the dust devil looks like a rear inflow jet!

Nice clips!
The bg track tho!
That was fascinating. Great choice on music too - who is that?
Is it just my imagination or will "Schrodinger's" dust devils not cross the road when being observed?
They will skip roads, but yes it hurts them losing the heat source that is the dusty fields!
Someone really IS "reaping the whirlwind"!
Wow! Nice job!!
Anyone else try to wipe the black speck off your screen ?😂
Plant says: A TORNADO RUN GUYS!!!!!!!!
where is this recorded?

How come in some frames the dust devils are spinning clockwise? Did you film this down in Australia? 😏
All right here in Washington State!

I think the fields of eastern Washington
I see them in the Fraser Valley, BC in the spring after fields have been ploughed and the surface ground has dried.
