One reason the ratings are down is that people can't root for a team like they used to. People started rooting for players instead of teams and that does not produce steady, life long, passionate fans like in the past.
I mean its always been this way? No? It always was "Jordan and the Bulls" and "Shaq and Kobe". The lowest rated final of the 90s : Knicks/Spurs had two giant markets and still flopped.
If Ewing wasn’t hurt ratings wouldn’t have been that low.
I think teams trading players also had a role in it
And streaming is why its down here yet worldwide up.
It went past that - even those players don’t compete - LeBron made the league about entitlement and collusion instead of competition. It’s a joke.
Players abused their power. Owners had enough and took it back.
Thank Ben Simmons and others
Have they? Until I see it happen at least one more time in future seasons I think this is just an anomaly.
@@CBrown Nah, LeBron took it too far and owners said NEVER AGAIN!
The owners haven’t done a single thing to show they’ve taken anything back, there’s literally no evidence of that whatsoever😂…trading Luka doesn’t show anything.
It's no loyalty in business regardless
This is exacly my view from the beginning of this tradetalk. The franchises have HAD IT w/ the players doing what they want. They're f-ing up the money, and literally looking for every chance not to work..
Exactly......along with Silver who has facilitated all this and is now flirting with the idea of 10 minute quarters, effectively taking more money out of the owners' pockets. They've had it with the BS.......
Its more like Vegas is taking control of the NBA. The Alderson family in particular. And if they could have it their way all of sports, eventually. Things like the Black Sox scandal and point shaving will be happening every day. Well... I have a feeling it already is. But on a much wider scale.
MLB and the NFL thankfully don't have commissioners as incompetent as Adam Silver, who has been ruining the product since he took over. It will be very bad for the league, which is already struggling badly as of late. They were ripe for a hostile takeover. And now it's come.
Nobody in the major media will touch this. And even shows like this will dance around the real issues here, like they just did in this video. Watch DMK's video on this for a starting point. Though it goes much deeper.
@@keederatwell2340 Yea and trading prime 25 year old Luka and tanking their franchise, alienating their fanbase, losing 700 million followers, losing attendance is giving them power.
I've been having this argument for two years with my friends. Because I own my own business (and have season tickets) I see the NBA differently. In the case of Embiid....A first or second round exit isn't worth 40 mill. You could pay someone 1/4 of that and lose all the same
about time this sent a shockwave to agents and players
Dancing a jig
Imagine how Rich Paul is feeling.......they had this decision/trade and THEN contacted him. 😂😂😂
@@keederatwell2340rich Paul is evil. I’m glad Rob did this. Showed him who has the power
You people are delusional😂…one GM making a terrible decision is somehow some shock?😂
@@baldeagle4710you do realise if Rich Paul or AD really didn’t want this trade they would’ve kept the trade bonus and AD would have been vocal about not wanting to go to Dallas. Dallas wouldn’t have done it if AD wasn’t on board. Who would trade Luka who wanted to stay at Mavs for AD that didn’t want to be there?
NBA Owners: We're taking our league back!

When did the players have it?
Love how Rob always takes shots at Lebron but never criticizes KD for joining a bunch of super teams but has never been passed the second round without Curry since OKC
Lebron is just an embarrassment though.

Zion has done absolutely nothing for New Orleans idk how or why they haven’t moved on from him. They’re just gonna keep hoping and wishing he stays healthy lol even then how good is he really like he isn’t changing that franchise at all.
I would of traded him for a bag of chips and a coke by now
Zion isn't going to do anything until they move him out of New Orleans. He was supposed to be going to the Knicks but Davis pulled his Lakers garbage. Pelicans needed a star so league sent him there, leaving Zion not really wanting to put an effort in. He's using the harden I'm going to be fat until you trade me.
He needs to be healthy, perform THEN he will have trade value.
The dude was such a monster
So sad to watch
Stop comparing Zion to Luka that’s ridiculous
If the problem with Luka was that he was out of shape and lazy it seems pretty comparable dude. That train is coming for Zion’s ass next
It’s not about comparing them head to head. It’s about star players having so much power and no responsibility as of late. Sign mega contracts and don’t even play half the time.
It’s cute that you think LeBron didn’t know this was coming. He’s only been saying the one player he wants to play with is Luka for like 2 years now.
It's crazy how people are forgetting that. He has said this on more than one occasion and the Lakers trade AD and he didn't know?! Yeah right!
Samething i said LeBron just being slick about it but i do wonder did a.d know if not LeBron snaked him
@@troysmith6190 he’s sure acting like he knew…waiving his $6 million dollar trade kicker to give the Mavs more cap space to make the team better. 🤷🏼♂️
Well the good news is that when dipshits go in their conspiracy bag to blame LeBron for everything, they're too distracted to put it all on Mexico or the Jews.😂
One team making monumental mistake doesn’t make this a trend.
Teams will learn…look at Paul George…why would anyone pay him a max salary??
ESPN left Rob on the side of the Road.
But you here watching
I’m all for the owners/organization taking back the reins
Rob is rock hard for the first time in decades at the idea of teams and their billionaire owners "taking control", something they have always had.
No they haven't. NBA players for the past 20 years have held all the leverage, they've had too much say and you can go ahead and check the numbers at just how irrelevant the NBA is. A lot of that is attributed to your lame "player empowerment" era. The tail should never wag the dog. The players arent business people. The business people should be making business decisions and they need to get back to a strong commissioner like David Stern who won't bend the knee to weird agendas
@@solidsnake7167this is a lie. The vast majority of players don’t have the leverage the Top 10 players have.
@@FPSLarryIII it’s a superstar league smart guy - OBVIOUSLY the relevant players have the power, and the relevant players dictate which way the wind blows in terms of market and most importantly the trajectory of a team and their success

Ban “no trade clauses”. Super easy to gain back control as the players develop too much power
There’s literally 2 to 3 players that have those bro😂…no trade clause is not a thing..Beal and Lebron have them, no one else.
@KKOPPONG So why do those 2 have them??
Why don't the NBA just get rid of the clauses ??

New Orleans was very foolish giving Zion that max extension when they did Philly at least got an MVP out of Joel
These dudes are getting INSANE money!!! I would think that they could be moved at any moment depending upon the owners needs!!! If a guy is not producing, playing or whatever, deal him away to the highest bidder!!! I mean, seems fair to me...🤓
They are taking the league back. They need to put a limit on 3s per game too. You only get to shoot 30 3s a game.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think he’s mistaken both Joel Embiid and Zion Williamson have all been made it clear they don’t want to stay with their teams lol
I love that the owners were trying to send a message. I hate the execution. Could've gotten the farm and maybe sent him to a small market team. Instead, you gave him away and sent him to the best city for basketball.
I tend to believe Dallas regarding Luka. They didnt trade a player that good for no reason. I don't know if it was a smart move and I think they got a bad return but ome has to believe that there was a significant reason for wanting to move on from that guy. And honestly, Philly and New Orleans should have done the same with their guys a while ago. Whats the point of holding onto a player that isn't working for you?
Rob is so on point
No he's not. He's a mark...
That's what the Heat should've done with Jimmy Butler
Even if its owners empowerment.. Mavs still shouldn’t have traded Luka… it’s not the same as trading Zion or a washed up Joel Embiid
why not? It was clear Luka and his team was not moving off the max. He is not worth the max. He didn't win any chips.
If the team can trade you and break they contract they signed the player should be able to ask for a trade and break the contract they signed
Rob knows he's done that before. "Can you step out the car for a minute lol"
Dallas has to show that it benefits from getting rid of uncertainty B4 the league follows its lead. Some of the teams only have a star , so that puts people in seats . Those teams won't easily just give up on their Marquee player .
NBA ratings at a record low all of a sudden the lakers get Luka smh
They owed the lakers for that Chris Paul bs back in the day lol
@@NohypocritesNah they already made up for that with the Pau Gasol trade. Got the Lakers two more championships!
@@blaketindle4703 naw that gasol trade was before the Chris veto
Won't change ratings...gameplay lacks variety
No idea why these players signed that CBA. I said it at the time, gone are the days that they give any above average player the Max.
These teams have to be real selective now who they decide to give that Max to. That Max will ruin a team if you give it to the wrong player now.
Fans take ownership's side for some reason and hate it when a player decides to leave. But they have no problem when Teams trade away players with no warning.
Because the teams have been in cities for 60 - 70- 80 years in some cases. Players come and go. Also it's something called hierarchy . A boss and a worker aren't on the same level. If you had a business would you want your employees telling what to do?
Bc most players decisions are short sided ..as soon as you tell them ok you gotta be in shape you have to play at least 70 games ...you cant be a fool of the court ..they get bent out of shape.

@ Power to the People!!!
lol Rob has a fit when players make their own decisions in their careers yet it’s all good when franchises move players around outta nowhere 😂. It shouldn’t be a problem either way to be honest. The Mavs fans are also furious rn and people are questioning this move so there’s that.
Rob be talking out of both sides of his mouth
Fart noise - once you get older, move up in the world and become a seasoned adult thats been there and done that, you will agree with Rob 100 times out of 100, and you will also be voting differently for that matter. Owners move players because 1. Thats the business you signed up for. 2. if you get fat, sloppy, lazy, injury riddled, useless - then you are now useless to the team nd you better believe they will move off you. It's a competitive league, this isnt some jit kid working at foot locker
The owners don"t care about the fans. They just want to make money. Most fans are employees and they take the side of a boss.
This dude, said no ,the player empowerment not going to change in one sentence, then in the next sentence he says the owners are maybe are taking control back.
Rob needs the stop. The owners own the team but the stars own the league. This Luka deal has many many layers. Its a once in a lifetime deal. There won't be many like this.
"Super Week Live from New Orleans" LMAO at least get your logo right guys 😂😂
Mark Cuban is the person that ordered the hit.😂😂😂 how is no one else talking about this.
To be on the side of billionaires and not the players who actually put in the work and make it entertaining for us to watch is a strange take.
Spoiled players are half the reason nobody wants to watch anymore. About time the league tries to turn it around
They're not putting work in. They're just turning up and jacking 3's. Whole league plays the same.
Can we please stop trying to frame this as a working class vs the ruling billionaires? It is not even close. When James Harden in 2019 decided he was tired of getting bounced out the playoffs every year in Houston and demanded to be traded and showed up fat to preseason, he hurt the *Houston fans* . When Ben simmons in 2020-2021 got his feelings hurt by Doc Rivers comments and said he wouldn’t play and demanded a trade, he hurt *philly fans* . The entitlement of the players demanding trades hurts fans of that team. Jimmy being mad that he can only make 50 mil and not 60 mil despite being washed hurts Heat fans.
Seriously, why the hell would I side with Harden in houston, Ben Simmons in Philly, or Jimmy on the heat as a fan of those teams? They are the problem. Not owners of the teams.
“Teams trade players too” teams trade players to *better the team* - you know that, as a a fan of a team, if your team trades a player you like, they did it for the *long term success of the team* . When Jimmy is mad that he isn’t going to make 60 mil and wants to leave your team, he’s not doing that for the good of the team, he’s doing that because he’s a child. That is the difference.
Right is right and wrong is wrong! Period! My hands are tied 4 years ago.
@@jejo63660 Owners don't care about making the team better. They care about money. Doc Rivers should have had ben simmons back in public. Pat Riley told Jimmy bulter we are not going to give you an extension to his face. Why would he not be upset?
The only way it would make sense to not tell Lebron is if they plan on trading him as well
As they should its about the teams not players
Empowering you franchise by trading away the best player you’ve ever had when he’s 25 is a choice.
Lol no Rob . No gm is as stupid as the Mavs gm and ownership . So no . This isn’t “ the franchise taking over again “ … this is an idiot who just pissed off his coach and his entire fan base because the new owners don’t know anything about basketball .
Mr Rob Parker , my guy , I heard the joke on the show about views … you gotta make your own channel and you gon get motion. You feed a part of our souls that the other fox guys don’t … they seem to have a narrative , you my guy one days we having wingsssss
Maybe I call into the show one of these days …
If “moving without someone” is sending them to the Lakers for nothing. Taught a great lesson lol Embiid we gonna trade you to New York for Josh Hart and 2nd round pick
Nah, players still have the power. They can still force owner’s hand by doing what Butler is doing, and in the era of guaranteed contracts, they gonna get their dough no matter what. At worst the owners can only do what the Mavs just did to Luka, by denying him the super max. But with that said Luka still gonna get a big dough.
Teams? You mean the owners. Don’t use euphemisms. It’s the owners, and they should take responsibility and control. It’s their business.
Im sure Durant has his bags ready by now He knows he is next
Finally
Jokic is showing gms and owners that these "great" players arent so good in the grand scheme.
The late great commissioner david stern would have never let the inmates run the asylum.
This has nothing to do with it. The MAVS are trying to tank the franchise to able to move to Vegas or another location.
no, its just because new dallas owners have confirmed that they don't care about basketball. And its the owners that are not wanting to pay the players.
Teams should take back their power for these players because just look at how many players with huge contracts and have under performed and have achieved nothing
I see Rob is one of those "invade your space" people.
facts rob
Rob is a schmuck, he makes money on reporting about athletes and games but he is against them have ability to protect themselves and make sure they are treated right, what a douche bag.
He must be so happy for Joe Locumb the Warriors are valued at 9.5 Billion Dollars.
The start of it was the Zion Williamson contract
Players can't control their own destiny when you r total focus is money and playing with your buddies...controlling your destiny encompass lots of things
Could you imagine sitting next to him and getting all that spitting rain coming from Rob‘s mouth? Monsoon
Can we also acknowledge how God works. Since Kyrie left Cleveland he tried to force himself as a leader in Boston and BK. He was rejected both times. Kyrie now has his own team in Dallas and those guys in that locker room see him as a leader.
My very thoughts as soon as the Luka trade went down. Anybody can get it😂
This was all about a casino and Las Vegas. Not Luka drinking beer. This will never, ever happen again
It's in the media's best interest to make this about basketball and not about corporate greed.
Yup the sands company wants to get gambling in Texas and a new mavs arena or...move to Vegas.
Its no loyalty business regardless, fans judt go more at player empowerment
Mavs were not the favorites to win the chip last year lol Celtics were -215 to win that series meaning you had to put $215 to win $100.
Ain't just Luka. Look at the deal San Antonio swung the next day for Fox. Ownership is in a process of devaluation of players. If Gobert or Bridges worth 5 first round picks then Luka is worth 10, and owners have had enough.
Luka doesn’t look outta shape to me what is everybody talking bout lol
Mr. Bad take.
NO once again Kelvin you are dead wrong Rob is right the owners actually have been waiting for Lebron and his group to retire and age out for a while! Meaning player empowerment I'm going to do what I want and GO where I want! It's over trust!!
Rob Parker needs a trade 😅
So if luka was out of shape he got u to a conference finals twice and a finals
You still didn't have 2 stars traded for each other. Anthony Davis only Plat 1/3 of the season and what did he do when he was with the Pelicans? The only time he's won anything or even made noise in the post season was in a bubble when the league took half a season off. He would've been hurt and he wouldn't have won that season if he didn't get 5 months off to rest.
Love the debate. Excellent show Dallas needs to remain contenders. Luka

This is a roster/slalry dump by Dallas. The owner isnt inti basketball but she is into casinos with sports betting. This is about a new stadium either in Dallas or Las Vegas for the Mavericks.
Arlington Tx….whats wrong with the mavericks arena it ain’t that old
@dreamcage1801 The new owners want a casino with the basketball arena as the highlight feature. There is nothing really wrong with the current arena except it doesn't make enough money for the owners. Do some research on Sands Entertainment and the courting of TX lawmakers to get gambling houses

@dreamcage1801 I had a reply to your comment yesterday but apparently a Mod removed it..dunno why as all I said was the Mav Owners are Casino folks, not basketball folks, who have been donating to and courting TX law makers to change state to allow a Casino in TX.

Guys are getting traded but alot of teams can't play basic basketball.. fundamental sound I keep saying this! Wow the Ad and Luka trade was prolly best fit. What's this gonna change for La now they need another Big . Ad will do better in Dallas than LA.. Position pressure Vs LA negative vibes
Embiid to the Lakers
There will be no organisation empowerment era. I don’t know why you’re being delusional. One bad trade doesn’t set the standard, bad trades are always done. Did anything happen when Kawhi was traded to Toronto as opposed to where he wanted? Did anything happen when Kyrie left Nrooklyn because they refused to extend him? Did anything happen when Timberwolves traded KAT for cap relief? Did anything happen after Daryl & Harden fell off? Did anything happen when KD went to the GSW? Will anything happen when Jimmy is out of Miami? Will anything happen when Dallas regret this trade? Teams haven’t done a damn thing about Zion, Simmons, Ja, Embiid, Harden, Jimmy, or Draymond and for some reason we think organisations are making some statements😂
Players have always had the power, that’ll never change.
No they ain't! This was a owner business move for Vegas. Cuz it makes zero sense outside that. Even taking control back u wouldn't do this trade.
Lol, teams always had that power 🎉😂
Helloooo is this on come on Rob you know this ownership group doesn’t care about the team they want the Casino.
So a team can say that to a player but the player can’t say that back to the team stoppppp ittttt robbbb

So only the fans know LeBron knew and the media is buying the LeBron didn’t know thing? Or is the media playing dumb? LeBron and A.d knew about this, A.D wanted to leave as soon as jj became the coach and the whole bronny thing. People also really think they are making a move this big and the face of the league LeBron doesn’t know? Lol
This is the most double standard garbage I’ve ever heard. When players look out for themselves, they’re disloyal selfish greedy, spoiled millionaires.
