I think it would be nice if there was a version of this where there's soft, unobtrusive ding or noise every time it's time for a clue card to be turned over because otherwise those can be easily missed
We actually playtested this pretty early on, because I felt similarly! Unfortunately it made the experience considerably less immersive because everyone was aware "something was about to happen" as opposed to things just occurring organically. So we scrapped it in favor of full immersion and just gave the facilitator the job of reminding people privately as necessary!
@@spenserstarke2967 I just want to say, the amount of though, detail and passion that went into this game (even details like this above) make me respect this game so much. I'm curious your thoughts on the best ways to facilitate it online. I've used Roll 20 and Discord and tried to have every "start" their own video timer at the same time. But this next time I'm thinking of having me as the facilitator stream the timer so that we are more in sync and if someone has a crash they won't have to "guess" where we are.
@@holyyakker thank you so much, that truly means the world to me! I tend to use the Roll20 edition when I run it remotely, but the discord bot is easy if you don’t want to have to do as much facilitating! You can totally stream the music to everyone- I’ve started doing that as well, and it works great!
Ye i agree
@@spenserstarke2967 I agree! In our game, we never noticed when someone was going to the table for the cards. So no immersion breaking
I... I finished the game just an hour ago and it’s so haunting. Thanks for making me cry, nerds
Played it 2 days ago, that was heavy...
Hey! Sorry for the big group text, but I just got into town for winter break at my dad's and haven't been able to get a hold of Alice. Just wondering if any of you have spoken to her?
Hi buddy! Welcome back! I hope you’re fine and your hold man is still ok… Actually we haven’t heard anything from her…. Now are 3 days of silence…. I’m not gonna hide that I am little worried….
definitely not. i've been worried as well. do you think... something bad happened?
@@hannah9504 I do not know… She usually disappeared for few hours even for a whole day, you know her situation, but never so long… Maybe she writes us soon…
@@Supercultra I say we go look for her. It's definitely so unlike her to disappear for so long.
@@hannah9504 you say we should already go and looking for her? After How she treated us? Mmmm… I am already here at the beacon (lighthouse) and I can check here around, but I don’t wanna do so much effort… she ghosted me several times for hours or even one whole day…
I've run this game about 5 times now. The most recent one, we didn't even use the cards or anything. I've created a whole world in Silent Falls for players to explore and I let them just have run of it... and it's so cool to see what they come up with. In my homebrew, the suspects all have bios and backstories that all intertwine with Alice and each other and it really gives it a "small town" feel. It's like your in Sunnydale or Star's Hollow or something. I also like how it's not like DnD or other RPG's in the sense that you have to interact with each other... being through text only gives it such a unique feel. Love Alice is Missing sooo much.
Oh god we're about to start Im so fucking nervous and excited. Other Jack players, give me strength
oh my god you guys

thanks
this is genuinely the best rpg system i have ever played, it's life changing. I stayed up until 5am TWO TIMES just to play this game and i do not regret it one bit.
This game reminds me of life is strange. How the music and how the game is set up to make yoi think that you are from a different place at a different time trying to find your best friend until police have to step in and pull you away from the investigation.
jep.
ME TOO
I think the back of the box even says that it's inspired by it.
I set this up last weekend for a socially distanced game with still being in lockdown. It was beautiful. I don't think we've ever been so invested a game so intensely. There were tears running down my face at the end. What an experience...thank you.
I’m planning to do this with friends soon, how did you run it?
@@englishmiller259 I have the pdf version so I printed the time cards, picked them at random, put them in sealed envelopes and dropped them at friend's houses. I kept the 10 minute card as I had the 20 minute card, and gave it to my husband in play.
We used Skype for our opening set up, and WhatsApp for messaging and I put images of all the suspect and location and search cards in separate Dropbox folders which we all had access to. Each pair of suspects/locations was assigned a number.
If a time card told a player to reveal a suspect they would roll a dice and move the corresponding suspect from the 'suspect' folder to the 'suspects in play' folder and same for locations.
There are downloadable versions of the character and motive cards on the website too.
I am tempted by the roll 20 version though, would have saved me some time, but I like the feel of actual cards, despite it being mostly digital.
Hope you enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions!
I feel like I’ll remember this game for the rest of my life
Just played this yesterday with friends. While we didn't find the experience as intense as some folks, we enjoyed it and we loved the mechanics. Would love to see the same sort of mechanics for other types of settings. One of the players suggested a sci-fi setting where the players are exploring a new planet and sending messages back to their ship in orbit. Looking forward to seeing more from the publisher!
I just finished this game, it was absolutely devastating... just the most intense experience
Played with some friends a few months back and jesus it got heavy
Playing this game has been one of the most in-character experiences I’ve had so far and I loved it - even though the game hit me right in the feels
Just finished playing. I got so emotional... It's really devastating in a good way. Huge shoutout to the developers.
Played this last weekend with my friends, damn Alice, I wish we could do more for you... 😭
i totally feel this. even though i never talked to alice directly, i felt like i knew her and i really felt horrible for her :(
I just played this. That was intense! Having a experienced group of roleplayers/LARPers really helps. Amazing!
This is just a great playlist in its own right!
Ah, a fellow Simon
Played my first game of Alice last night. Was Charlie and everyone decided to have a grudge on him. It was intense and having three other character being pissed at you didnt helped. overall an incredible experience. one of the rare fiction that manage to kick my gut this hard
The soundtrack is wonderful. The game was amazing. We had a few issues with some rules not being clear but that all faded away once we started. And to be honest, for me the fact of not being sure on all the rues and the ability to miss a clue because we were too deep in the chat and the overall chaos of the thing made it work so much more for me.
This was one of the best rpg experiences ever. I was crying in the end... And the music is SO WELL CHOSEN. Just wow. The feeling that this game gives you... undescribable. Sadness, nostalgia, melancholy... But also a thrilling intrigue that lasts from beginning to end. Amazing.
i just finished playing this with my friends, and i'm SO glad we got a good ending. i played jack and it was so fun playing them as this struggling kid who left their sister behind once, and didn't want to do it again. thanks so much for creating an awesome game!
That is interesting, I played Jack too, but I picked rather older brother protecting younger sister figure. It created interesting narrative as my character was a bit older (25) than rest of the cast.
My Jack was in between the two of yours. No older enough to truly disappoint yet, and acting as the "man of the house" and protecting his sister while really still a kid :D
Played for the first time yesterday this soundtrack was fantastic. So was the game first time ever in the 41 years I have been playing RPGs that I was misty eyed in a TTRPG.
I just played this by myself as Charlie Barnes and instead of texting, I wrote down a log for each time I drew a clue card and that’s what I did in between them and I have come out with a story. This game was an amazing experience and I know it says 3-5 players but I was so excited to play it and I’m very happy with the result I got with playing this.
I used this as inspiration and just finished a run by myself as Jack. I ended up with a really great but sad story that was absolutely worth the time. Thanks for the idea!
It was almost a week ago that we played this, and I still can't stop thinking about it.
I don't know if it can be possible for everyone else to have the kind of experience we did. Somehow, the confluence of these relationships and backstory elements with the particular card draws we had, the suspects, locations and especially the search cards... just magically produced one of the most unforgettable stories I have ever experienced.
such a good game. the most intense rpg i have ever played
This game is /so/ intense. I was unsure about the format going in, but was just blown away by the gameplay. The last exchanges between Jack (me) and Dakota (amazing rp'er) were some of the finest rp I've ever gotten up to -- the tension just builds so amazingly as time winds down.
Highly recommended.
I played this game last night with a group of friends & I must say, I will never forget it. While it was a punch in the gut, it was beautiful in its own way. The soundtrack only enhances it. Thank you to the developers for making a beautiful piece.
One of the best tabletop games I've played in my life. I'm shaking, it was so good and absolutely beautiful.
I'm glad to see that everyone here loved their experience. I was quite lost, however, and didn't know what to do and what the limits of storytelling were. I guess it's just not for me, and I prefer games that tell the story more themselves.
I just ran my third game. This playlist is giving me goosebumps every time cause it reminds me of the stories I have seen develop. Beautiful. An amazing experience.
Man just got done the game 2 hours ago and I'm still shaken. I played Dakota her best athletic friend and the rollercoaster of the start with taking Alice to a parkour spot at night when we weren't supposed to be. To the end where I literally had to fight off/run from the suspect that kidnapped her on a train and find Alice's body was gut retching, emotional and a experience.
My beast of a high schooler survived but man
I recommend that people play this RPG to create your own story as this has a lot of replayability and different outcomes dependant on how you roleplay things. It's one RPG that you'll love.
This has such strong Life is Strange vibes
i just played my first (and probably only) game of alice is missing this afternoon. we had everyone except julia and i (charlie) hurt, and jack and dakota on the brink of death. julia found alice alive and they both made it out safely. come the end of the game, i sprayed ryan groggins (our culprit) with lead outside the barn on cambridge st.
great work spenser.
Didnt think this game would hit as hard as hard as it did
This was the best rpg I've played. Music was amazing
Took me a while to finally play it after seeing a ton of recommendations about it and honestly i loved it because unlike more strict systems it gave you a lot of Freedom with making your character and the world.
I was the facilitator and one of the other 2 players had the motivation card of hating one of the other players character's whilst i had that another player knew a secret about me which we used to basicly make it so me telling them my secret caused our friendship to Splinter off in the past and ultimately led to my character having left because this secret casued the characters parents to divorce, along with that we created an entire subplot about Alice's farther putting a lot of pressure on her and being abusive and we ultimately found Alice Dead with the Person who found her dying with us roleplaying that we were both rushing to the location but ultimately failed
We just did this social distancing of course. It was intense and immersive. Went by super fast, too! I would play again. Not soon because boy is that emotional but it be interesting to see a different outcome and play a different character.
Thank you. Last night my long time RPG group played this as a one off. It was amazing, and still haunts me today. Thank you.
Definitely added to my favourite soundtracks!
Just played our first game of this - a terrific experience!
I played the game last night, it is a truly amazing experience. Thank you so much for making this game Mr. Starke, Hunters Entertainment and Renegade Games team.
What a beautiful game.
Beautiful. Thank you for this amazing piece of art and emotional great music
I've just run my first game and WOW what a blast! Really intense even though I've already played it before!
I haven't been able to play the game yet, but I decided to put on this video as ambient music. At 1:30:21 when the first song is replayed again, I literally gasped at how damn good of an idea that is. Hearing those first opening chords 90 mins later after concluding the story... the thought of it sends a chill down my spine.
I hope I can experience what it's like after a game of this one day
It's 3 AM. I'm trying to finish that damn project. This fits perfectly.
Such an intense game... Thank you!!!!
Finished the game, had such a great time. Now i'm here for the music at work.
Ooft, what a gut punch the story was! Great game guys.
I finished this game last weekend and I swear I heard faint crying in this song by the end. I guess I was too Immersed in it.
Just played this evening.... 😫
They have timed the musical cues so well when you're drawing cards to determine the outcome.
Excellent game! 👍
God that first song makes me feel
great soundtrack! terrible to do homework to. i'm sad now.
That was intense, holy shit, thanks for this great game.
Just played the game with my friends last night. i gotta say it was the most fun i have ever had with a RPG tho i wish there were more characters so the replay value of the same group of friends is worth it but i would play it with a different group like thats how much i really really enjoyed myself plus the music really slaps Im going to be listening to it for awhile.
So its been 3yrs...I got my bf into this so we'll being playing it with my friend that got me into Alice is missing lol
If anyone is thinking about getting this, do it. It can get a bit heavy depending on your partys imagination and interpretation, but its a very well made game. The 1hr and a half FLEW by and got very immersive. Think season 1 of 13 reasons why as a card/non verbal/texting game
If you're being the facillitator, make sure you monitor the timer and learn the rules thoroughly so your players get suuuuper invested. I was the facillitator and it was very cool giving people a heads up as to when it was their turn as well as adding spins to the story
Fantastic game, highly reccomend. Massive thank you to the creators!
What an amazing game and soundtrack.
Just wanna say that the experience was as immersive as I thought..
This was such a great idea. Great job guys!
Just played this tonight...wow. Best gaming experience of my life. I feel changed.
Played last night, excellent soundtrack
if anyone in these comments wants to play, I run a Discord set up so people don't have to use phones! message me and I can give you the link if you want to watch, play, or run a game!
I have yet to play Alice is Missing nor do I have a group that would want to play it or experience it with. Even so I often find myself listening to its sound track, when taking a nap after a long day of work, while taking a walk in the snowy trails by my home, on a summer drive to my families vacation home, or on a night time walk around the town.
Just finished a round and it was awesome!

I just finished the game and I don’t think I’ll be the same. Holy shit
.
.
.
Spoilers about a possible ending! Even if this was just my with my session 😅
.

.
My experience lead my character to believe they caused her to go missing, then as soon as they tried to save her, they got caught and was left for dead. Alice survived, my character did not. The last thing my character did was send a voicemail, and recording that seriously made me cry with how much I was getting into it 😭
Does anybody else just come here to listen?
Yep!
All the time
Fuck that was hard. Great game.
Honestly I’m just gonna like and favorite this because its well made
Rest in peace Alice 😢😢😢😫😫😫😭😭😭
Has anyone homebrew some rules or events so the game can be more DM into one cohesive story. I was luck that my play with friends ended making sense, but it could have easly don't.
Emotional damage ;-;
UN JUEGO INCREIBLE, CON LAS PERSONAS QUE LO JUGUE TAMBIEN LO AMARON SUPER RECOMENDADO
Played this yesterday. I don't think a game has ever really made me feel like this one has. That was insane. R.I.P. Jack...
I found the body as Jack and was also the only one who died after texting a goodbye to everyone cause I knew I wasn't going to just let it go.
I was Charlie and found her body... I tried so hard to get away but you can only run so far when someone has a gun. My last words were "If I don't make it... I love you all so, so much."
And the ripple of emotion that went through the room when I put my phone down.
The game is very immersive
I really love this game. I had an opportunity to play it a couple of times with my friends and each time we go down this rabbit hole it always so much fun. Even after realizing that one of my friends actually had this happen to them, they still had a good time. Problem right now I'm having it I'm running out of friends who had have not played this game and he wants to play this game LOL. I do have a question are they going to be expansions for this game with different characters and potential added story elements
Yo you might already know this but they actually did release an expansion pack just this February!! It looks SO GOOD!!
The phone number is real on the missing person poster!
Tell us more. What happens if you call it?
@@ricbaines1424 it goes to the VM of the police department from the game!
Is It still available? I don't know if I'm typing it wrong (calling from EU) or if it's not working anymore
WHAT
I feel like whenever I think of this I think that the Project Zomboid Title Theme would be an excellent fit into the theme of the game lol
If anyone stumbles across this, let's play a round!
I wish it had a bell or something to flip the cards over.
Belle expérience de jeu. La fin n'est pas assez épique je trouve (on devrait être plus guidé pour rendre le final Wahou)
No lo venden en argentina ;(
В России тоже((
what happened?
alice died in my game 😣
Wow - bugs bunny did it again
X
Half these comments feel like the devs giving themselves fake compliments, the mechanics effect literally nothing about the game, your relationships with other characters change nothing, withholding information from people changes nothing. Played a session and at the 20 min mark the killer literally just made a facebook post about how he was going to kill Alice, then the last card told us to flip a coin to see if she died or not. Super disappointing.
Sounds like you had a bad game. That could happen. The game I played was very linear, but had some good twists. Sorry you had a bad experience. How much did you guys talk during the character and world building portion? That's where I think makes or breaks the game because the card draws are random but what isn't is how you created the world.
and I think your observation about the comments is a little cynical. I played this game with people who don't really play games in general, let alone RPG type games, and each of them loved the experience. But again, we took our time really nailing our character relationships and fleshing out the world.
@@codydavis3100 The problem is that it's not really a "game" and it's advertised as one. It's more like filling in dialogue for a story that's happening to you, that you really don't have any effect on.
If this was advertised as a roleplay setting kit then I think it would be fine, but it's presented as a game and non of the "game" mechanics actually do anything.
@Brendan Thomas I just think you had different expectations going in. I don't think it was advertised as anything other than a role playing game and those types of games rely on the players involvement and not just game medhanics
@@codydavis3100 That's what I'm talking about, you calling it a game is misleading, because there is no game haha.
Your roleplay has 0 effect on the outcome of the story, you're essentially watching a movie on mute and making up the dialogue yourself, which is fine if that's what you wanna do, but it should be advertised as that instead of as a game.
honestly, I didn't find the game to be intense or emotional. the game really hypes you by having the x card and debriefing and all of that, but honestly it was too long and just kinda random, like the ending is just based off random card draw and a flip of a coin, if we are making the story the ending shouldn't be determined mostly on luck.
sorry guys I didn't find the gave moving or really interesting :(
I wanted to play this game with my family unfortunately it is a LGBTQIAFDSFSEF+ game so the rules and characters require a discussion with your kids about gender, exclusivity and other neuroitic ideology to decide how you want to play the game so it does not end up offending somebody. And you cannot escape it! The characters have like no gender, it is up to your kid to choose which one to role play! Sick approach by sick people offended by life itself. Even at home when you want to enjoy time with your family, this trash political agenda follows you to bring insanity everywhere
Your words are true, but... You wanted to play with your KIDS? Do you want them to earn PTSD at the age of ten?
Are they all older than 15, at least?
@@Retropoint-x1e I still call them kids at 18 ^^ A game is a game, it is about enjoying your time and having a good laugh. I'll struggle to bring a game to my table where anybody would take the scenario seriously like they can't distinguish a game from reality. And this is the problem I have with this game and its rules that can't consider itself as a game and the players as players. You wonder why they published / made a roleplaying game in the first place.
@@alksis5361 Oh, phew, 18 :)
Answering your question: That's why it's called 'the most immersive TTRPG'. You type in character, you act in character and you speak in character - and everyone else is doing it. That makes the players immerse so much, that they soonly lose a sense of what is real (I've heard many people have this experience). And since the game is about a story, that explores modern problems in society, it, unfortunately, includes the LGBTQCHICKENBURGER+, because some modern teenagers (and mostly teenagers) in USA follow it. Just for more immersion. If people nowadays mostly identified themselves as rocket launchers B40P, then the game would make at least one character with this identity. Just to make characters alive and real.
There is, however, a conservative character as well - Alice's brother. When he finds out, that Alice has a secret girlfriend, it must piss him (and the player who plays his role) off. So, basically, they both were added to create an interesting conflict in the story.
But yeah, the fact that it was added anyways disappoints me. I'm Russian, and here we have traditional values. There is no LGBTQ CASHORCREDITCARD+ here at all, it's forbidden for distribution. So Alice is Missing might never reach my hands, because our censorship won't let it in 😔
played this shit made my game bad
Any reason why?
@@thebestame3582 'cause it's not a game it's just a story for young girls with nothing interresting
Hum hum, I am very sorry but this is not a game. I tried as hard as I could to give it a chance for 3 hours and guess what ? I just lost 3 hours of my life. There is absolutely no reason for the X card and all the trigger warning stuff this is just a flat and really disappointing dumb high school story. I hope nobody will lose their time and money anymore with this fraud. And I assure you I weigh my words and they are too light.
To each his own.
The game was really bad , I dont think it was worth for the price .
Simply saying it's playing a dlc of C.I.A ma but just bad and cringe also,
whats the point of faking someone is gone.
waste of time and money also the songs are empty and fk cringe.
Clearly you didn’t play it the right way. The beauty of it is you make the story and what happened.

Just played the game with some friends over sync-tube, roll20 & discord, wow, so intense, and the music was perfect with it! Thank you so much for this game and all the material for it!
