Amen to the materialistic crap side of Xmas! 🙌This year I started giving gifts that I baked and made and people really loved them! I felt bad at first like they might think I didn’t care enough or was giving them some crap or something but they did actually seem to really like them! I gave them out as little extras this year to start out, just some spoons I whittled from the wood of one of our apple trees, elderberry syrup, alcoholic and non alcoholic versions and some birch oil blend I made to help my friend who has EDS and pops his joints out a lot so I hope that will help any joint pains, stuff like that and I baked cookies and apple cakes and I nalbound socks too and some tiny ones as decorations and I sprinkled them in with gifts we bought and people text my hubby (I won’t ever read them or reply if they text me 😬😂🤦♀️) thanking me for making the mini ones, they loved them and will be keeping them to put on the tree each year which is so sweet and everyone’s been asking for more cakes and cookies 😂 I might have actually just made life harder for myself as they’d all have me baking all year but I love making things and I love to heal others so if I can make something they will enjoy too then I’d much rather do that than be miserable in a shop having a meltdown and no clue what to buy or buying just generic crap that has no heart in it, I’m hoping to make more things this year so I have a little store of gifts ready to go but I loved this video! I’m so glad you put it out, it was so lovely, like hanging out with a friend 🥰❤️❤️❤️ I have also been building a friendship with my house spirit this year and love your garden gnomes! So cute that you both got one for each other ❤❤ your people got you some really thoughtful gifts that are so personal and that’s so lovely that they listen and care about your interests!🥰❤️❤️❤️ You have inspired me to get resin gnomes this year after seeing yours too cuz all of mine keep getting broken in the garden and it breaks my heart to see them out there in bits 💔
It's so good to have a supportive family! My mom is Catholic as well, but she's very witchy and she always gets me fun and witchy things for Christmas like oracle decks, cool spiritual books, crystals, herbs, etc. This year she gifted me several witchy books for example! My dad is also supportive but he needs to be told exactly what to buy because he "has no imagination" (his words) lol. This year he got me a fantasy poster for my wall that is a little bit witchy as well. My sister is a crystal girlie just like me so she is always very good with gifts and we give each others exactly what the other one wants. However, this christmas we decided to keep gifts minimal so none of us gave a huge amount of stuff to anyone...
with the mushrooms, you can dehydrate them and grind them down into a powder to add to soups/sauces for a little umami. or just have a new kind of witchy powder! idk what associations mushrooms traditionally have within witchcraft, but i get psychic vibes. they're all connected underground by mycellium, part of a larger whole than you first see. love that journal too
I love The Bell Jar and Sylvia Plath has been my favourite poet since a past boyfriend bought me a collection of her poems when I was 15 years old. My holidays have been quiet and chill. It's a difficult time of year for me since my daughter and granddaughter passed 5 years ago and my daughter's birthday is today. My husband and I have adopted the Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóðið (Yule book flood), 5 years ago. We gift each other a book or two on Christmas Eve and have a cozy evening, reading and indulging in Gluhwein and sweets. Lots of time, snowshoeing in the woods near my home and leaving offerings for birds and animals and doing photography. This year, my family will be coming to my home on New Year's Day to celebrate our Yule/Christmas because they were visiting other family on Christmas Eve and day. Wish you all the best in 2025. 🙂

I’m looking for ways to ease the pain around Christmas time as I have a sister who’s passed and her birthday was Christmas Eve and this has given me the idea of looking into other traditions or the traditions of my ancestors. My grandmother was a devout Christian, yet she was always sharing herbal tinctures, or things like egg cleanses with me, along with other things found in Brujeria (we're Mexican). She was the sweetest and I wish I could've told her what I was because I realized she would've loved me regardless.
I also do Yule and Christmas and think of Christmas as being pagan. I got a tarot and oracle deck for Christmas, and we had a small dinner that night. My guy usually has to work Christmas, but he was off this year. Hope you have a great new year!!
Shiitakes are what made me LOVE eating mushrooms! Sauteed in butter with a little garlic, or brush with oil and BBQ them! Cook them until they're almost crispy 💗 I hope you enjoy growing them 😊

We had a postal strike up here in Canada this year so as a result a lot of my gifts seem to be lost in transit at the moment. But I got a witchy calendar and a pretty notebook and honestly I think that’s enough to start the year right. 😊
You will have a mushroom preference in the same way you have a wine preference. I always recommend enoki. You can wrap them in foil with a pat of butter and air fry them for ~3min at 400°F, and they come out tasting like parmigiana cheese and have the texture of really good linguini.

I have read The Bell Jar 28 times; I first read it in the 8th grade. Sylvia Plath is my all-time favorite author and poet ever! I can’t wait to hear how you like it! THE BEst, but I was also told that I was very macabre when my 8th grade teacher handed me that book to read.

Great video as always. If you don't like the taste of mushrooms the mycelium are very interesting magically. They are great connectors and communicators. They are also great at taking things where they need to go.

Yay Brandon Sanderson! I will say I have tried to read the first Mistborn book a few times and never got into it... The first Sanderson novel I finished (and loved!) was The Way of Kings. Love that series! So, if Mistborn doesn't do it for you, another book of his might :) Glad you had a happy holiday! Totally agree with disliking the commercialization of Christmas, and yet still enjoying the gift giving/receiving aspects of it, it's odd to navigate at times.

I have yet to get my 2025 calendar set 😮 I have my Llewellyn wall calendar and weekly companion, but I need my Hobonichi Cousin and Weeks. I absolutely love the Cousin, and I will be using the Weeks along with it this year. I have a book that I list the books that I read along with my rating and what they are about. I for one love you being more what I like to call regular and real I don’t mind at all. You sharing what you got from your family at Christmas. I don’t see that at all as an over commercialization or over buying or any of that I think when people bring that stuff up is very annoying and overdone at this point and it sounds more performative than it is an actual thing. So I personally love the variety that you are giving us because you’re giving us glimpses of you at different times which is great since we spend so much time with you. Canadian literature (know your Margaret’s, lol) is ALLLLLL about depression! Everything Margaret Atwood, some Margaret Lawrence, and Alice Munro are cream of the crop. Also, Yann Martel, Robertson Davies, and (for something completely different) Stephen Leacock are delightful.
That Ibis statue is absolutely beautiful. I know it can be very personal, but if you ever feel it is appropriate to publish a recipe book of some of your oils, tinctures, etc., that would be amazing! (and definitely be put in my library!) For the clear bottles, you can also paint designs etc them with acrylic paint or craft glass paint on the outside to shield them. Finally, many folks use shitake mushrooms in the place of meat and they are amazing carmelized. Thank you for this relaxing slice of life video!

I am a fan of Sylvia Plath, have read her poetry for years and "The Bell Jar" too, which is dark and intense. There is a old 1979 movie made of this book too which is intense to watch. Plath is complicated but worth the read. I made a fan video about her on my channel; and according to my many sources, "The Bell Jar" was published in 1963 under a pseudonym in Britain, then under her real name in 1967 THEN in 1971, it was published in the US under her real name. I agree about the commercialization of the wintertime holidays but also so glad you made this video! Do you have any resources on what you talk about the planetary correspondences of oils?
I'll try to keep this short because I really could write a book on the subject. 😂 Unfortunately, there are no good books I've found that specifically talk about carrier oils and their correspondences to each planet. I would suggest starting with Agrippa's three books of occult philosophy if you haven't already. Those are the OG books every occultist should start with when learning about correspondences IMO. Once you learn about the energies each planet embodies and some of the plant associations, you can kind of start to build your own gnosis on what works versus what doesn't. For example, when I consider a carrier oil for a planet, I ask myself: Is it warming or cooling? Does it uplift, relax, or stimulate? Does it resonate with the planet’s qualities? For example, I relate castor oil to Saturn because it is dense, grounding, and purgative. It aligns with Saturn’s heavy and restrictive energy. Olive oil can be used for multiple planets but it is particularly useful in solar workings. Sunflower oil is great for the Sun as well. Almond oil and rosehip oil are sweet and luxurious (among other things) relating to Venus. Mustard seed oil is spicy and stimulating which reflects Mar's fiery nature. I would suggest learning the planetary energies well and then experimenting with different carrier oils to see how they work for you!

Okay, on the mushrooms 🍄 I got you, get them dehydrated, and grind them up in your coffee grinder add tsp or tbsp to seasoning with anything that are going to bread yourself. Instead of common bread crumbs i use crackers ground up that are made from veggies like ( simple mills)🤑 but really good in porkchops 🥩 I have autoimmune and have to eat paleo since 2018 have had to do lots of experiments and studying on cook books and random recipes to have more nutrient dense meals to overcome my symptoms. If u get a blend, it's such easier to think of top ramen but healthy they basically use mushrooms ground up for alot of that flavor
@IvyTheOccultist ❤️🔥 So an extra tip you cannot shake and bake this. You need to put a pile down like just enough for each pork. Chop or anything your breathing for that side and with whatever egg or milk batter. You use that you're dipping it in. Make sure you get any excess off so it's not dripping and press the dredged food into the crumbs or it will be a very expensive sloppy mess there's a technique to it. I use coconut amino instead of soy sauce too in the egg dredge I'm sorry I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.I have four kids and my phone is old and so talk to text and texting in general is full of errors I can't go through all of it wouldn't have time to do anything else
Love your videos! Just a little disclaimer, Sint John's wort does seem to impact the effectiveness of the birth control pill so when people are using that please try other antidepressant herbs :)
I just want to caution about St. John's wort. It can cause negative interactions with some drugs, including antidepressants. Also, if your depression is from bipolar disorder (like me) rather than general depressive disorder, some herbs may induce episodes rather than help them. "Depression" is a catch-all term that includes many different symptoms and disorders so it's important to narrow down what is and isn't good for your type of depression. Also, don't feel bad for sharing your Christmas haul. Your gifts obviously came from people who care for you and know your interests so I think it is a sweet thing to share.
I had to giggle when you said that you loved the idea of passing down material to your children someday. I had the same dream but it turns out that my kids think that I’m a complete kook and want nothing to do with witchy spiritual stuff lol. Maybe I’ll have grandkids someday with open minds!
Not to worry, this didn't come across as a " look what I got for Christmas" thing in a negative way, just a fun sharing the joy way. For what it's worth, it took a lot of years of extremely uncomfortable conversations to even remotely get where I am with my family. Most of them don't even know I have a TH-cam channel and I have to keep all of my belongings locked in a room when they come over. The path isn't easy but I encourage you to start having those conversations and I hope they are able to understand you! ♥️♥️

I've used saint john's wort, and it's actually made my depression worse. This isn't any hate to you, or anyone else, i'm just throwing it out there to remind people everyone has different body chemistry, and saint john's wort may not necessarily help you.

So I have an gnome story BUT I have a brain injury and memory issues so can’t be certain of my source 🙈 Anyhoo I was listening to a podcast, I think it may have been Icy Sedgwick so very credible. Someone went to an area where gnomes had been seen and used a device that could pick up different frequencies that we find hard to hear. They asked the gnomes what they thought of garden gnomes and on the replay of the recording device a squeaky and slightly grumpy voice said…. Hmmm 🤔 well actually I think they’re racist 😅. It really made me laugh. 😆

I have read The Bell Jar 28 times; I first read it in the 8th grade. Sylvia Plath is my all-time favorite author and poet ever! I can’t wait to hear how you like it! THE BEst, but I was also told that I was very macabre when my 8th grade teacher handed me that book to read.

Great video as always. If you don't like the taste of mushrooms the mycelium are very interesting magically. They are great connectors and communicators. They are also great at taking things where they need to go.

Yay Brandon Sanderson! I will say I have tried to read the first Mistborn book a few times and never got into it... The first Sanderson novel I finished (and loved!) was The Way of Kings. Love that series! So, if Mistborn doesn't do it for you, another book of his might :)

I have yet to get my 2025 calendar set 😮 I have my Llewellyn wall calendar and weekly companion, but I need my Hobonichi Cousin and Weeks. I absolutely love the Cousin, and I will be using the Weeks along with it this year. I have a book that I list the books that I read along with my rating and what they are about. I also have a recipe notebook for my oils and powders. I like the separate notebooks so things don’t get lost in the mix. I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve! 🎉

I for one love you being more what I like to call regular and real I don’t mind at all. You sharing what you got from your family at Christmas. I don’t see that at all as an over commercialization or over buying or any of that I think when people bring that stuff up is very annoying and overdone at this point and it sounds more performative than it is an actual thing.
So I personally love the variety that you are giving us because you’re giving us glimpses of you at different times which is great since we spend so much time with you. It’s nice to see you just chilling out. Happy new year and I can’t wait to see what new things you have in store for the next year and I’m also gonna look into reading the Bell jar.

Ooh, the Bell Jar! Such a good book (even though I strangely read it when I was a teen and at the onset of my bipolar disorder...). My family celebrates Christmas, I call it Yuletide. It was beautiful. I handed over the hosting duties to the next generation - FANTASTIC decision! It was SO MUCH FUN!

That Ibis statue is absolutely beautiful. I know it can be very personal, but if you ever feel it is appropriate to publish a recipe book of some of your oils, tinctures, etc., that would be amazing! (and definitely be put in my library!) For the clear bottles, you can also paint designs etc them with acrylic paint or craft glass paint on the outside to shield them. Finally, many folks use shitake mushrooms in the place of meat and they are amazing carmelized. Thank you for this relaxing slice of life video!

I am a fan of Sylvia Plath, have read her poetry for years and "The Bell Jar" too, which is dark and intense. There is a old 1979 movie made of this book too which is intense to watch. Plath is complicated but worth the read. I made a fan video about her on my channel; and according to my many sources, "The Bell Jar" was published in 1963 under a pseudonym in Britain, then under her real name in 1967 THEN in 1971, it was published in the US under her real name. I hope you enjoy the read and thank you for being so inspiring!

I agree about the commercialization of the wintertime holidays but also so glad you made this video! Do you have any resources on what you talk about the planetary correspondences of oils?
I'll try to keep this short because I really could write a book on the subject. 😂 Unfortunately, there are no good books I've found that specifically talk about carrier oils and their correspondences to each planet. I would suggest starting with Agrippa's three books of occult philosophy if you haven't already. Those are the OG books every occultist should start with when learning about correspondences IMO. Once you learn about the energies each planet embodies and some of the plant associations, you can kind of start to build your own gnosis on what works versus what doesn't. For example, when I consider a carrier oil for a planet, I ask myself:
Is it warming or cooling?
Does it uplift, relax, or stimulate?
Does it resonate with the planet’s qualities?
For example, I relate castor oil to Saturn because it is dense, grounding, and purgative. It aligns with Saturn’s heavy and restrictive energy.
Olive oil can be used for multiple planets but it is particularly useful in solar workings. Sunflower oil is great for the Sun as well. Almond oil and rosehip oil are sweet and luxurious (among other things) relating to Venus. Mustard seed oil is spicy and stimulating which reflects Mar's fiery nature.
I would suggest learning the planetary energies well and then experimenting with different carrier oils to see how they work for you!
I take elderberry gummies every day instead of waterpills. I started to make melt and pour soap and I add jojoba oil and it cleared a wierd rash Dr. blame it on me, saying I was picking at myself...

Okay, on the mushrooms 🍄 I got you, get them dehydrated, and grind them up in your coffee grinder add tsp or tbsp to seasoning with anything that are going to bread yourself. Instead of common bread crumbs i use crackers ground up that are made from veggies like ( simple mills)🤑 but really good in porkchops 🥩 I have autoimmune and have to eat paleo since 2018 have had to do lots of experiments and studying on cook books and random recipes to have more nutrient dense meals to overcome my symptoms. If u get a blend, it's such easier to think of top ramen but healthy they basically use mushrooms ground up for alot of that flavor

So an extra tip you cannot shake and bake this. You need to put a pile down like just enough for each pork. Chop or anything your breathing for that side and with whatever egg or milk batter. You use that you're dipping it in. Make sure you get any excess off so it's not dripping and press the dredged food into the crumbs or it will be a very expensive sloppy mess there's a technique to it. I use coconut amino instead of soy sauce too in the egg dredge

I just want to caution about St. John's wort. It can cause negative interactions with some drugs, including antidepressants. Also, if your depression is from bipolar disorder (like me) rather than general depressive disorder, some herbs may induce episodes rather than help them. "Depression" is a catch-all term that includes many different symptoms and disorders so it's important to narrow down what is and isn't good for your type of depression.
Also, don't feel bad for sharing your Christmas haul. Your gifts obviously came from people who care for you and know your interests so I think it is a sweet thing to share.

Not to worry, this didn't come across as a " look what I got for Christmas" thing in a negative way, just a fun sharing the joy way. It's also cool to see how well thought out the gifts were even from people who only "sort of know" , what you're all about. I'm a little jealous, none of my extended family knows anything about my witchy side lol. Maybe I need that Thorn Mooney book lol.
For what it's worth, it took a lot of years of extremely uncomfortable conversations to even remotely get where I am with my family. Most of them don't even know I have a TH-cam channel and I have to keep all of my belongings locked in a room when they come over. The path isn't easy but I encourage you to start having those conversations and I hope they are able to understand you! ♥️♥️

So I have an gnome story BUT I have a brain injury and memory issues so can’t be certain of my source 🙈 Anyhoo I was listening to a podcast, I think it may have been Icy Sedgwick so very credible. Someone went to an area where gnomes had been seen and used a device that could pick up different frequencies that we find hard to hear. They asked the gnomes what they thought of garden gnomes and on the replay of the recording device a squeaky and slightly grumpy voice said…. Hmmm 🤔 well actually I think they’re racist 😅. It really made me laugh. 😆

@ isn’t it just! I live near the location of the infamous Wollaton Gnome sightings from the 70’s where about 12 children had gnome encounters in the grounds of Wollaton Hall. It’s a fascinating encounter. The Modern Fairy Sightings Podcast has an interesting episode on this. I can highly recommend it
