PSA has cancelled the STG44 project. An original US Military M16 being select fire is going to be many 10’s of thousands of dollars. Any registered machine gun is going to be S tier simply on price
LOL must have filmed this before the PSA announcement. They shelved the STG44 project indefinitely. They couldn't get it to run reliably in .223 or 7.62 and never planned to release it in 8mm Kurtz "a dead cartridge" (their words).
@@davidau PPU is great (usually). However, they do not have the production capability to meet the market demand if PSA launched the STG44 in 8mm Kurtz. They would quickly sell out and price would sky rocket.
The HiPower should be on the list, too. It was my "grail gun" until I landed a very, very nice "T" series. I am still looking for a war gun, preferably a Waffen marked piece.
I used to buy pallets of Finnish Capture Mosins for the shop from Navy Arms/Gibbs. About $29 per rifle. About 140 of them stacked on a pallet like wood, wrapped in plastic, delivered by Yellow Truck. I used to prefer the SA capture rifles. No refurbs. All pretty much exactly as they left the factory.
My top holy grails are the SVT40 (early production) and the 1954 Izhevsk SKS45 with the nice laminated stock which is a little bit rare! Also been looking for Type 30s and Type 35s, love that hook style safety 😊
I had an SVT40 years ago. It had headspace problems. I ended up selling it to a gunsmith about 30 years ago for $400. I bought it half dozen years earlier for $275.
I acquired a rasheed myself last year, and I absolutely love it. Estimates are that only a couple of thousand of the roughly 8000 produced actually made it into the US.
Me too. I kept a 1935 refurb from the shop since it has a perfect bore. An actual bright & shiny, like brand new, barrel. Rarely see that on any Mosin.
I have made an impact on my grail guns the last few years. I have a gorgeous Imbel FNFAL, a Very nice Polish Tantal Ak-74, just recently acquired from the CMP a 1943 Springfield Expert-Grade M1 Garand and do have an actual 1944 Made Izhevsk PU Mosin Sniper, not some century wonder gun made from left over parts. You can tell the difference from the "Sniper" designated stamp, and second serial number stamp for the scope on the receiver. My particular PU was refurbished again by Molot-Oruzhie sometime around 2010 and then brought over, it has the K-O Waffschu stamped on the barrel. It is a very exceptionally accurate rifle. Next grail guns are a MAS-36, Type 99 Arisaka, and K98 and VZ-24 Mauser to go with my Unissued Yugo m24-47.
Great video. Right up my alley as a collector. My regrets: i had a 1942 BYF Mauser made Luger, a 1930s DWM made luger, and another WW1 luger. Traded them all back in the day. I wish I hadn't, don't I. I still have bulk of my collection. However, as we all know, prices have gone through the roof. But that means that my 2 Russian made AKs are 4 times what I paid for them. Also, I'm not a fan of the PSL. I had one, but the complaint is a thin barrel that will not hold zero after several rounds. I traded it.
The SVD Dragunov is definitely alot of peoples' grail gun. I remember wanting one when I first used it in the original COD Modern Warfare. It remains a grail gun also based on price since they are all 10k and up. But thankfully the big boy job allowed me to score an SVD and then I just had to have another. So 2 sit in the collection and I'll never get rid of them
I remember when my local gunshop had a couple of Tigr carbines while they were still legal to import. I just didn't have the $800 they were asking for one.
My grail was the 1886 Lebel, but now she sits center stage in the safe. My current grail that I'd love to have is the Russian DPM or ill take a DP28. Yes Lord Tachanka is the reason for my obsession
So much of the current mil-surp collector's market seems to be driven by video games; nothing wrong with that---collect what excites you! I think off-beat guns like a CZ-52 (only roller-locked pistol ever!) or the Remington Model 51 (with the Pedersen hesitation lock) are really cool, even if they're not the rarest.
@@donwyoming1936 Nah, you can still get a Yugo refurb K98k for around 700 clams. Gewehr 43s and SVT-40s are much more rare, desirable, and valuable WW2 rifles than K98ks.
I’ve got a Russian TIGR SVD that I converted. I put a 24” barrel and adjustable gas regulator on it. I'd be interested to see what people from other nations have to say about this. Let's be honest, some of the high ranking US made guns are there only because we live here. I myself have been very fortunate to have many of my "grail guns" already. In fact, recently added a French Berthier M-16 to my collection. you can easily put gold coins inside innocuous items and mail them anywhere. You can move a million $ by car, or sub $10,000 of them by plane out of the country (several times per year) Have your local dealer order the coins, you pay cash, never show an ID and scatter-bury the coins all over your county. so that you can't lose more than 1-2 to robbery, flood, construction, etc. Walk past your burial sites once per month and just casually look for signs of digging. When you bury them, do so at night, without showing a light, making noise, or showing a light.
