That is one of the things that I like about VoicePlay... they don't let any one singer take over the whole show. Even if in any given song, a singer is more prominent, they don't let the others disappear... and they make sure that they each get their own turn as the focus of a song. But yes, this song of their's is absolutely beautiful... as much as it makes me sad at Earl's departure from the group these days.
Wow, Eli's riffs in this, J's beautiful voice, Geoff's amazing bass, Earl's laser high notes.. and getting to hear Layne sing too - just incredible, please more Voiceplay! Your reactions are amazing!
They have endless creativity in their arrangements. I can't get over the fact that Layne and Geoff are among the best if not the best in the world at their musical roles and also consistently make such innovative and beautiful arrangements.
The first time I heard VoicePlay they were singing Tennessee Whisky and I was totally blown away by their harmonies. Just stunning. And then of course, Geoff. Everyone is blown away by his bass.
This is my absolute favourite version of this song, the ending is genius! I'd recommend The Bones and their Twenty One Pilots mashup if you've not seen those yet, they do some really interesting things with them :)
I love your reaction. Exactly like mine. So many highlights moment there for me J. None for example has many great moments that brings a lot of emotions in the whole thing same as Earl. Between 4:02 to 4:10 those two just brought tears to my eyes . Yes Goeff is truly gifted but everyone was so strong in this. And yesss that part at 4:23 til the end is killer! You are very right sir, it's eargasmic. You have a nice soft voice by the way!
This is such a beautiful rendition of this song. Great Reaction. Voice Play dropped a mash up today, featuring Rob Lundquist from Home Free as well. Hope you check that out too. Very different than this, but fun.
Shout-out to Layne, tbh. Beatboxing, kinda by nature, isn't what people are gonna be paying the most attention to when they listen to songs, and even in covers like this where he's singing along with the rest of them, he doesn't go super high like Earl or super low like Geoff, and he doesn't get a lot of solo verses like Eli or J. None, so he doesn't stand out a lot. But he's like the glue that holds them all together, and the music would be incomplete without him. Such an essential yet thankless spot he occupies~.
Thank you for a great reaction. Seeking of overshadowing, I am so glad Earl left the group. He always had to overshadow the rest of the group whenever the whole group sang at once. One person should never be heard above all others. They are better off without Earl.

Yep i cried. It made me cry. Please tell me I'm not the only one who felt the emotion in that. A-mazing!!!
It is so fun watching your sweet face as you listened. Bet you were your Mom's favorite child!!
Yes' this song is just DIVINE. Great commentary too

I like your way of seeing things from a different light not just another voice teacher/specialist talking music theory and such.
Their version reminds me of simpler times back in the winter, I miss those times

True Colours is another one that can give me chills with the harmonies. No percussion.
