Makes me think of all the people complaining about "bad writing" that they didn't keep the Dothraki behind the walls to fight the Night King in the Battle of Winterfell.
I honestly don’t understand why everyone gets on Theon for jumping overboard. It was literally the ONLY thing he could have done in that moment. His sister’s throat would have been cut if he took a step forward. His uncle was daring him to knowing that it was an unwinnable situation. At least this wayTheon might have a chance to go back and rescue her.
He’s still wasn’t completely back, he almost there but not yet, and besides, there is never shame in running from a losing fight, cause that way, you can fight another day.
I like how Natalie's like, who is Jon Snow? "We'll find out eventually." But the revealing scene has already happened. She just didn't know what it meant.
@@Waytothedawn63 there's another reveal though later on. you get a proper one at the end of series 7 when he's banging his aunt and i think Bran is talking
28:25 Jaime never cared about Joffrey like he did Tommen or Myrcella. he'd always try disassociate, in the books he considers him a sociopath and doesn't want to be his father either way. that's why he's not bothered by Olenna saying this
So then why was he rushing to Joffrey so desperately when he was dying? He was just as upset and frantic during Joffrey's death as he was during Myrcella's death.
While he didn't care about Joffrey, he was probably angry about the things that Joffrey's death set in motion: Tyrion getting accused, Tywin's death, Oberyn getting himself killed, which led to Myrcella's death etc.
I like to think that Bran became so cold as the Three-Eyed Raven because he saw and felt EVERYTHING. And in order to preserve his sanity, he had to shut down that part of himself that felt emotion because the alternative was to die of sorrow.
I see it more as a result of the idea that a person is their "experiences" or memories. Now, as the 3 Eyed Raven, his head is full of so many years of memories, that the piece that is the life and memories of Bran Stark is a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the sum of his total memories, completely overwhelmed by the collection memories of the Three Eyed Raven. He has so many different memories from different lives, places, and times in history that it all just sort of blends together to form the dull, lifeless persona that is the Three Eyed Raven.
@@KS-xk2so Wouldn't it have made more sense for him to have become everyone instead of no one? So that talking to him would be like talking to anyone who had ever lived? You could walk up to him and say, Hey, Grandma, what was that secret recipe you were going to tell me on your deathbed but you died in mid-sentence?, and he'd smile in the way she used to and say 'oh yes, child, I'm sorry about that, it was X'
@@rtozier2011 I think it's more likely to be just a blank personality because any one person is only 0.0000001% of his total memories, so any unique or individual personality traits are just toned out due to the sheer mass of all the memories. He could tell you the recipe, but he wouldn't act like the grandmother.
@@KS-xk2so So far as I know he didn't get any memories from the previous three eyed ravens, or was this stated to be the case in the books? My interpretation was that his green-seeing journeys into the past don't occur 1:1 with the passage of time the rest of the world is experiencing. As such he might be spending subjective years as an unseen spectator in the past for every day that passes for everyone else. So in the weeks or months that it takes for him and Meera to reach the wall he could have "lived" for centuries or millennia in the past just silently watching the world, becoming mentally the oldest being in the world by far, to the point where he just naturally grew detached due to the vast span of time (relative) that separates him from everyone else.
as much as i don't like the writing in this season, Hot Pie's line to Arya -- "I can't believe I thought you were a boy. You're pretty!" warms my heart. Arya grew up being told how ugly she was (by Sansa), so to hear otherwise puts a smile on my face
Me too! But I cant believe Arya didnt invite him to winterfell. That's the only issue I have with the scene. Arya keeps being heartless and violent and never gets questioned for it. But other characters kill and its seen as "mad".
@@slenderfoxx3797 knowing that Winterfell might be a place of war if Cersei decides to strike might have been the reason she didn't invite him. Also she only had one horse. He would slow her down.
19:47 I never understood why ppl were trashing Theon for fleeing. What exactly did they want him to realistically do in that situation? Fight through over a dozen armed men to save his sister who has a knife to her throat?
Well Jon stood his ground vs the Bolton charge in the battle of the basterds so Yeah he should have tried to get his sister back and face the danger. I mean Jon had the look of a man with courage and Theon runs away and jumps ship so a coward.
@@shootingreal5945 there were no proverbial Knights Of The Vale on their way to rescue Yara's fleet and Theon knew it. Jaime really should have died as a result of this act. I don't hate the last seasons as much as many others do, but it is clear that the main characters don't face consequences for their bad decisions like in the earlier seasons.
Naaah he liked to sing, fuck and start wars that killed thousands of men, women, children, his own wife and 2 children, just cause he was in "love" with a 16 year old teenager! Naaah he is a despicable man that Jon needs no attachment to, Jon is all Ned's for all I care!🙌💯

Right. For the sake of realism they could have had two or three seasons of real-time, with us watching Euron and his crew mostly sitting around, doing nothing on wide open seas with nothing around them. This is, without a doubt, the dumbest of dumb criticisms. Maybe for those who are particularly dim, they could have constantly flashed "three weeks later" to make you happier.
@@AndyMatts44 I dunno Daenerys' teleportation (and whoever it was who travelled back to tell her) when Jon et al were stuck north of the wall feels like a pretty valid criticism. Didn't they even say they were "6 days away from the nearest woman" or some shit, but they ran back to the wall, sent a raven to her, and she flew all the way up to them in what seems like a matter of hours?
"Spoils of War" is probably my favorite part of this season. It is one of the early promises the show makes... and watching it finally delivered was really mind blowing.... all I could think of was Khal Drogo swearing before the Mother of Mountains..... that this would happen 🎊🎉 omg, love it. It's one of the few moments (for me) the story begins to feel like it's completing itself.
27:27 Actually the Tyrells had one of the largest forces left in the seven kingdoms. Their lords “turned” on the Tyrells because they sided with Dany, considering the Cersei murdered most of the Tyrells (who were more beloved than feared) it really made no sense for their lords to turn on them, except as weak writing by D&D. It was things like this that made no sense that was a warning for season 8.
The logic went basiacally like this: Dany is OP, we need her to lose shit, ok she can lose Dorne and The Reach since nobody really cares about them now after season 6. How can she lose the reach? Well Olenna is an old lady and therefore not a military commander aka somehow meaning no army. Sams father is an asshole who would totally fight for Cercei after she killed his beloved liege family. Why? Because Randylls only personality trait in the show is being an asshole, so they can basically get him to do whatever they want. It makes no sense whatsoever
@@bjornerluffy yup, they had to reduce it to Randyll’s decision, considering it would actually require most of the banner lords to betray the Tyrells its hard to imagine them doing that to Olenna especially how adept she was in politics.

@@RashaKahn Not really. GRRM just revealed the ending to D and D, told them to write it their own ways. @@drishtijoshi9641 Weird considering the rest of the world thinks that they rushed the ending. Oh and the hate is necessary, GoT was in line to be a great series to be remembered, now it's a cautionary tale of how to screw up a series.
Kind of is his fault though. He wrote a story so vast, with so many characters and storylines, with absolutely no clue how to bring it together in 2 enormous tomes, let alone a couple of seasons of television. Promised books soon and still hasn't finished the next one after over 10 years. The people who made the show were tasked with completing a story they didn't write, with a couple of major plot points and fuck all else to go off. A story that grew and grew and grew and was expected to be tied together in 2 or 3 seasons. I know it was disappointing but they were given an impossible task. Not to mention, if you go on any reddit thread about "what would ruin the show for you" or "what do you need from the ending" all the top answers always contradict each other. I realise they pleased very few people and could've done better, but they were always going to piss off a huge amount of people whatever they did.
Yeah GRRM is definitely part to blame for not finishing. I actually like that there was an ending to the series even though it was not great, I doubt he will finished GOT now.

Who you are is a collection of experiences throughout your life, the memories you have. So when you can remember the life experiences of every single person in Westeros.....you're a different person.
Maybe that's how it is in the books but in the show he's depicted as himself standing within the memory. He's not living as the person through their eyes so it never made that much sense to me for him to turn into a doorknob
@@HeisenStark13 What do you mean by "Standing within the memory? Cause when the last 3 eyed raven died, Bran seemed to be stuck in "download mode" seeing everything that's ever happened to everyone. 12:45 funny thing about this part is that Stannis literally already told -Jon- Sam he had heaps of dragonglass at dragonstone, but I guess the writer's forgot and needed to justify spending so much time on Sam 😕
Well he told sam, not sure he told jon. And ut was Quick and like 2 years ago in series time, he was just like "i know what it is, we have it at dragonstone"
I love the thought that Jorah went through all that pain without a sound because all he was thinking of was his queen's order to get healed and return to her.
@16:30, I love Sam's boldness as he walks into the scene. As a Man of the Knight's Watch, he couldn't save Jorah's dad but he can save the son. Everyone gets the chance to be their own type of hero.
Maybe his story lacked in fireworks but his impact on the storyline in the last two season is massive. He put everything and everyone in place for the battle. He revealed Jon's secret which led to Dany's downfall and he ended up ruling due to his foresight.

I liked that scene with Arya coming across those random Lannister troops in the woods. Kind of showed that they were just people and capable of kindness.
16:44 - You DO realize that your reaction was exactly what the creators wanted, right? In a way, it's representative of what the chronically/terminally ill have to endure. The grotesque. The agonizing. I would know after 47 years of Type 1 diabetes, which has resulted in the collapse of all the arches in my right foot, the amputation of the left foot, and a left eye vitrectomy. (There's something special about having to stay awake while an eye surgeon removes the center of your eye.) 19:47 - Theon really goes through it in the series. Essentially raised as a foster son by Ned Stark, always knowing deep down that he's not really part of the family AND collateral to keep his father in line. Next, he tries to serve Robb, but winds up trying to impress his father to gain approval and fails spectacularly. Ramsey Bolton then strips away his will and humanity. Theon then tries to return home to support his sister's claim to the throne of the Iron Islands, only to be forced to flee with her when their homicidal uncle shows up. And now, in this moment time stamped, he's expected to whip up incredible bravery?!? It's amazing Theon is able to even get out of bed every morning! 27:08 - Bronn's loyalty is to the person whose purse is open to him. When Tyrion asks him earlier in the series if he'd go out and kill infants without question, he says no; he'd want to know what he'll be paid first. 29:00 - Yeah, Bran's behavior seems coldhearted and alien, but imagine being able to see EVERYTHING and still have your emotions going full throttle. You'd become a gibbering mess after seeing all the hate, brutality, blood, death... and love, passion, blissful innocence... being able to witness every emotional event of the past and present for everyone would be psychologically overwhelming. 33:01 - How many times have I watched this damn scene and never picked up on the "no one" reference until Natalie pointed it out?! Yeesh! This is the first time I think I've left a lengthy response to one of your videos, Nat.
Yes I think she get's that the creators wanted that kind of reaction. This doesn't really mean anything though as people are going to be grossed out and uncomfortable all the same.
"Isn't their survival more important than your pride" - Jon to Mance Rayder, Season 5 Episode 1 "This morning I heard a song all the way from Qarth, beyond the red waste. Daenerys Targaryen lives. She has three dragons. Even if what they say is true, it'll be years before they're fully grown and then there'll be nowhere to hide" - Varys to Tyrion before Blackwater, Season 2 Episode 8
Spoilers, obviously. People making comments like this think they're 'doing something' or highlighting some massive flaw, but they're only exemplifying their ignorance... Lord != King. Just as Lady != Queen. A King is, at minimum, Liege when referenced by a direct underling of nobility or status and Majesty or Highness else wise. Bran is and was not Lord of anything.
Imagine knowing the history of the world... Whatever has ever happened to everyone in the world... And then being expected to care about one person and then faking for them something... He really died in that cave. There's a quote which goes something along the lines... When you're burdened with knowledge, it may help you or it may destroy you
Olenna in S3: “12,000 infantrymen the Tyrell family has supplied, 18,000 mounted lances, 2,000 in support, a million bushels of wheat, half a million bushels each of barley, oats, and rye…. I’m quite familiar with wartime expenses.” Olenna in S7: “War was never our forte. Golden roses indeed.”
I understand the disappointment with Theon, but also very much worth noting that recovery is not a straight line. The damage from Ramsey runs deep and Theon had a relapse at a rough moment.
Whoever came up with the sound effects for the dragons deserves a medal. From their roars to screeches when they're in pain...you can feel their emotions.
"He's gonna stab you. He's gonna stab you" He doesn't. Remember when you were nitpicking some overtly theatrical killing in the last season? Well I would say the Jaime Olenna conversation is not only fantastic deep dive in Jaime's psyche, with an unforgettable ending, it's also done in the most measured and forlorn way. It was perfect. Olenna went out defiant to the end. One last prick from the Queen of Thorns. It's an iconic moment. The one thing they do really well is make these battles feel monumental. Just when I think they can't top the intensity of the previous ones, the loot train battle leaves the average viewer visually awestruck. The the dothraki drogon battle is ana amazing visual spectacle, but just visually even the bomardment during that naval attack scene with the fireballs piercing through the night sky of the high seas is A1 movie quality, action scene academy award level shi5.

For me why the later seasons suffer is pacing, character interactions, and "out-of-character" character progression (IE Tyrion becoming dumb). Sure, there are some good moments such as the Lady Olenna conversation but overall the character interactions felt like The CW Channel type writing where the characters only exist to further the plot. We didn't get those beautiful early show moments, like Littlefinger and Varys mental jousting, in the later seasons. Those nuanced moments are what made GoT great in the first place and that was pretty much gone by the end of season 7. The show writing felt off compared to the previous seasons and it makes small things really stick out (IE Kingslanding geography change).

Ed's Hands of Gold song is actually a nice song from the book about Tyrion and Shae. But also if you listen to the lyrics you can easily apply them to Jaime travelling through hell and highwater to reunite with Cersei. The lyrics and the tune almost feel like it's half ironic half admiring, like the reaction King's Landing always had to the brother's undying love for their queen. The song being put in the show this late gave rise to all the predictions about how Jaime and Cersei's story will end, but also a theory where it's actually Jaime who is the Prince that Was Promised. He'll pull the Lightbringer sword out of the fire with his golden hand! The scene humanizes the Lannister rank & file. A tidbit is that near Highgarden is also where the "Iron Fist" army of House Lannister and House Gardener (who ruled The Reach before the Tyrells) fought Aegon Tageryan's invasion of Westeros. It's called the Field of Fire as the entire army of the two Houses was burned down by Aegon's dragons. After the battle it is in these fields Lorren Lannister bent his knee to Aegon the Conqueror. So this battle, the sides and the outcome mirrors those events. But after subduing the south, Aegon turned his eye northwards...maybe the new Conqueror would do the same.

@@vorlock7149 or someone assuming, that everything on the screen is happening in real time. I get it, Lord of the Rings had most of the movies spent walking, as did earlier seasons, and they were good by their own. But it's not a commandment to be always done this way. Minutia (which showing how everything happened to be is) is not always needed, and nearly all of the setup to get on with the plot was done earlier anyway, it's only natural that it will all unravel rapidly, or else it would lose itself. And if it was done slower or differently - people would begin complaining anyway, like they do about the Walking Dead or other long, drawn out series. You'd still rather have them spend some 3 extra seasons, walking and talking about inconsequential stuff, when the world in the plot sense is ending at this very moment? If anything, I'd argue that the first 5 seasons should've been only 3. Same applies to the Witcher. There are story considerations to be made, that are not to your faves benefit. Fans, demanding full service to each of their favourite characters don't know what they want, and would rather ruin an overall story. D&D aren't the best or brightest writers by a long shot, but doing it the way they did the last seasons throughout entire series would've been a better way overall, for TV. And it could've better kept in check those stuck on a point of dragging everything through the mud of world building, side stories and characters.
If you watch that again you will see Theon glance to the side after Euron call him. He sees Eurons men pulling teeth and cutting out tongues. Theon has ptsd. He did the only thing he could.
Euron is everywhere cause he learnt the power of plot teleportation, like some characters in season 6 already did. But his case is even stronger! He is so good at it that he can teleport full fleets from one side of the continent to the other, and ambush other massive fleets to the point of getting bellow spotter view and ignore possible alarms!!!! Such a madlad. Daenerys is pretty good too, as she managed to cross half of Westeros with a Dragon and a Dothraki army unnoticed. So much teleportation talent in one season!

The stab wounds that Arya suffered previously... In any other earlier season, that kind of wound would have killed her. To me, that was the first sign that the writers were starting to take way too big liberties. Getting into season seven, they really start disregarding the internal logic of the world they've established, and come season eight... Yaicks. Oh, and Cersei blowing the Sept to smithereens... I was fine with that as such. But in previous seasons, an action like that would have had consequences. What would the people of King's Landing have felt or done about it? What would be the political fallout of doing something like that to the faith? How do you fill the vacuum you've now created? But no, the writers just ignore this entirely. "Nah, it'll be fine!"
If the writing of the later seasons was the same quality of the precious seasons, destroying ths Sept would have led to religious extremists carrying out terror attacks on Cersei and the Red Keep: she would have turned an organized force of puritanical busybodies into a splintered and radicalized rebellion against the crown.
Bran doesn't become wise and all knowing when he becomes the 3 Eyed Raven. He now literally remembers EVERYTHING. Hundreds, if not thousands of years of history from all over the world, shoved into his head as memories. So the small little piece that is the life and memories of Bran Stark are now completely overwhelmed by everything else. That's why he has no emotions. He's not really a person anymore. He's basically more like a walking, breathing, history text book.
Jon: I came back from the dead! Bran: I can see the Future! Arya: I'm a shape-shifting Ninja assassin! Sansa: Well. Great. I got married to Ramsey Bolton...
Hey Nat, these 3 episodes you featured were some of my favorites in just so much mostly cool things happened. Starting off w/ Arya going after the rest of House Frey, and basically the " chickens coming back home to roost". Being a short girl, Arya sparring with Brianna was just great! ('Arya' is only 5'2" and Bri is 6'1") I love how much wiser Sansa is after all her awful time in KL and after all she's been through. It is a shame Bran is pretty much just a whole changed person, so far from who he was until his becoming the 3 Eyed Raven. I wish he had been left with some warmth of family. Onward, even though she shouldn't have done it for many reasons, you just can't help but still LOVE Dany's attack on the gold and soldiers! It was freaking EPIC!!😁💖 And I loved seeing the look on Jamie and Braun's faces when they first see Drogon.😋🔥🔥🤓 Watching you during all of this as usual has been fun.
1:03 I can feel your pain. When I was watching the show for the first time, I had issues with the subtitles during some of the episodes. So at one point when I sat down to watch a new one, I randomly clicked into the video to check if there are subtitles. I saw Catelyn Stark in pain, crawling under a table. I managed to spoil the red wedding for myself 🤦🏼♀️
I think the cost of being all-knowing is that things like being polite feels trivial to the more important matter at hand. I think that's what he's thinking of. The reality of the situation.
Not really. The first episode with the exception of Arya killing off the Freys has nothing going on and with only a 7 episode season they needed to move the plot faster instead it's just a lot of talking. Might be for the best though since dumber and dumber were over this show by season 7.
What was so good too, was with the wait between S6 & S7 I had actually forgotten Arya had killed Frey by the time I saw this, so was double surprised lol

As such he might be spending subjective years as an unseen spectator in the past for every day that passes for everyone else. So in the weeks or months that it takes for him and Meera to reach the wall he could have "lived" for centuries or millennia in the past just silently watching the world, becoming mentally the oldest being in the world by far, to the point where he just naturally grew detached due to the vast span of time (relative) that separates him from everyone else.

27:27 Actually the Tyrells had one of the largest forces left in the seven kingdoms. Those are not the same thing.
He's gonna stab you"
He doesn't.
Yeah, many book readers hate Series 7 because a lot of it isn't "GRR!" Martin any more, but in reality it's excellent.
@@neilgriffiths6427 you have no idea how tired i am with the season 7 haters lttle wingers.
@@neilgriffiths6427 It’s not because it isn’t George RR Martin, main elements simply don’t make sense.
1.)The entire reason Cercei was queen was because she was Regent for her children. Now both her sons are dead, she shouldn’t be queen.
But they just ignore it. Because apparently in this world where everyone is power hungry, everyone is suddenly willing to just give up power to someone who isn’t even part of the ruling family. Even though she has no allies until Euron comes in.
2.)Tyrion’s entire argument is that Danerys shouldn’t attack kings landing because casualties but thinks sieging the city(Starving people to death) is better. This dictates everything she does, she could of taken King’s landing easily this season, especially since they have no knowledge of the Scorpions at this point.
People hate S7 because it relies on everyone completely forgetting everything they know. It’s excellent if you were interested in the show for action but beyond that it’s complete nonsense. Where the world gets way smaller and everyone turns into complete idiots.
@@neilgriffiths6427 I hated/disliked season 7 before reading the books. I can enjoy the well done spectacle and certain scenes on their own. Overall though its plot was a bloody dumb mess...no question
Watching the way Dany acts with Jon I am reminded of this Tywin line:
“Any man who must say ‘I am the king’ is no true king.”
Yes. Cause she is a arrogant child.
Would you say the same thing of Robb? Lmfao your sexism is showing.
I literally cannot with the condescending bullshit towards Dany. She is as any male ruler would be. Arrogant and cocky. Robb was the same way and y’all cheered him for it 🤡 But with Dany she needs to shut up and be quiet. She needs to have less titles. She needs to lead with an apology. WHAT KING WOULD DO THAT SO WHY SHOULD SHE?
@@justbeyondmythoughtsThis has nothing to do with gender.

About Bran, the word you're looking for is "stoic". Bran is stoic now and detached emotionally because his ego is no longer gripping onto his own mortality. He sees the BIG PICTURE and understands how small "Bran" was in the tapestry of history. He's no long a single individual, but a temporal spectrum seeing both forward and backward. He's basically Neo when he finally sees the Matrix code.
I agree. Except Neo still managed to maintain a personal love interest after coming back from the dead and seeing the Matrix code.
@@MoneyGist I meant more along the lines that Neo was able to read the code of the Matrix in real time and that allowed him to look at it from an overall vantage point instead of a purely sensory one.
Bran is swimming in the sea of time and emotions mean very little to him when he sees outcomes long into the future.

And to be fair, Bran was sort of edging toward stoicism after his accident... seeming to disconnect emotionally, especially with the dangerous practice of worging in humans; something that drove Hodor a little crazy.
I'd say more like Dr. Manhattan from the Watchmen.

After Game of Thrones is over, you could either watch HBO's Rome, or even do Boardwalk Empire. Both insanely good.
Yeah, HBO Rome would have gone to many more series if they had the money, like GoT - the time wasn't ready, yet...
Rome is the best. Even cut short.

1:23 I mean, if it’s the episode I’m thinking of then the fact that you were even able to see any of it at all is actually pretty incredible.
This is my safe space. I watch this everytime i go to sleep.

#4 - LMAO @ "oh his golden arm is making him sink" haaaaaaaa!!!!
I think people underestimate that the writers after 10 years just got fatigue
Fatigued writers? That's being kind.

Season 7 and 8 are my favorites. I've been waiting for your reactions for these 2 seasons for a while.
Brans vision of Ned clearly tells you Jon's lineage, watch it again just for yourself no commentary you will easily see it.
This is my favourite time of the week
Hey mr editor man, just wanna say, your sense of humour is fantastic. Really appreciate you!

JON IS RHAEGAR'S SON. There's no way it's Robert's because he never got to be with Lyanna, it's what started the rebellion in the first place. He siezed the throne from the Targaryens. This still doesn't make Jon an official Targaryen, because he was born outside of marriage.
