  • For me, this is the greatest version of Echoes. Knowing these are the last notes they played together on this song, hearing them drift off makes the ending even more emotional.

For me, that version in Gdansk is a truly religious experience that brings me to tears every time. It really puts you through an emotional wringer, especially knowing the significance of that performance. Way to go guys, I'm weeping on my way to bed! By the way, Blackie was Clapton's guitar. Gilmour's guitar is The Black Strat - the only guitar to have a book published about it, as far as I know. Oh God! I'm such a Gilmour nerd!

I would suggest some of Gilmour's solo stuff : Short & Sweet, There's No Way out of Here and Raise My Rent from his first album are all great although all his albums are brilliant, all completely different and all wonderful 😊

I tell you someone there who never gets a mention from anybody and he’s been with pink floyd and Dave Gilmore solos since the eighties, guy Pratt the bass player his work with floyd is phenomenal his best is probably one of these days from the puls live concert, to me guy is a member of the band not just a bass player.

Whenever I watch Floyd reactions, I'm almost always frustrated that they are reacting to the 'wrong' version! I knooow I knooow there is no such thing as a 'wrong' version but, okay, let me rephrase it, I'm frustrated that they were not steered into the ones I'm most fond of.
For instance, when people react to 'High Hopes', they always react to the Pulse version, whereas, in my humble opinion, the 'Remember That Night' version is much superior. Or the 'Meltdown version'. (I've just checked and was amazed to see that you haven't reacted to it. Why don't you, if you'd like to, react to High Hopes, listen to both! First, 'Remember That Night' version and then The Meltdown one!)
Anyway, whatever you do, I'll be with you :) Thanks for the videos.

Okay, good call. I am off to find these and hope to get an opportunity to share. really appreciate the input as we are doing this for fun and looking to discover new things. Way more interesting for us and we are rubbish at pretending not seen something and want to have genuine reactions.

    • @cuneytguren

      First and 'grander' version.
      th-cam.com/video/JO4nzl5cZUk/w-d-xo.html
      and the other one is:
      th-cam.com/video/iT1Kq67m8ow/w-d-xo.html
Both very different but equally beautiful versions. It would be great you react/listen to one after the other in one video. The reason why I'm so insistent about your reacting to High Hopes is that I want people of my age, 49, to listen to these songs. Young people's reactions usually tend to be "Oh my word, the music is great" (Yes, it is), "Oh for f's sake he is playing the guitar, holding it horizantally" (Yes, he is. It is a lap steel guitar) so on and so forth... And there's nothing wrong or inferior about these responses. But I'm sure, if a person who has less time in this world than the time he/she has left behind will (would!?, damn your language is hard to comprehend) react to it differently. This song used to be one of my favourites for ages but after a divorce, a death of a parent, getting older etc, has become 'the song'.
