Oh! and second comment because I just thought of something and extra engagement never hurt a channel: you could chainply next time if you want uniform stripes and no barberpoling :) that will also be more 'sturdy' as a 3 ply for socks.
But who CAN say no to a vintage ashford traditional? Also, my Ashford looks so huge when I sit behind it. Yours looks so tiny in your footage. Oh how size is so relative! 🤣
Pull can be adjusted by the scotch tension. And yes you need to oil... love my traditional.. Will this be 2 or 3 ply? Wait until you try long draw, this machine is great for this method

I thought about it but i was scared it wouldn't fit in my knitting machine :( but next time i'll try and knit them entirely by hand :)
