I think Metagross’s biggest issue is just being weak to dark/ghost Dark types are on almost every team and most teams have a Gholdengo with them. Metagross from my experience works better on screens teams but the issue then becomes what screen setter is good for it. A9 is very volatile as while it’s fast it might have to hog tera which is bad for Metagross. Grimm is weak to steels and sadly Metagross isn’t consistent against Steel types despite having Stomping Tantrum and Hammer Arm. There’s also the issue of terrain messing it up. It loves grassy terrain but psychic terrain sucks hard for it as now it can’t use BP which it kinda needs with its awkward speed stat. It also has heavy 4MSS, it wants BP, Heavy Slam, Stomping, Knock Off, Protect, and Psychic Fangs. Then comes the opportunity cost of using it over Kingambit. Kingambit does everything it does with better offensive stab and has better min-maxed stats. The only way I can see Metagross being used over Kingambit is if running Kingambit adds another fighting type weakness
I'd love if Metagross got Trick Room and/or Shift gear as options in its moveset, the former giving us a really bulky physically offensive TR setter that's also a sweeper, of which there is a significant shortage, while the former gives it a massive speed boost and an attack boost, neither of which can be removed outside of haze thanks to Clear Body. Either of those would give it some kind of niche over Kingambit, as Gambit isn't really used on TR and can only boost its attack
To survive in in this landscape of pokemon it need shift gear in my opinion like honestly metagross just feels outdated now it's still feels like how it did back in it's overpowered days from 2003 to 2016 however time has moved on and left metagross behind in my opinion.
@@pezyg that’s my point exactly. It’s cheap, easy, content to make…. So how is that good content? I’m subscribed to over 300 channels and majority of them make better content. Guess I just answered my own question, why am I even here debating……
@@markperkins2656You probably follow those other channels because you like the person making them or their vids. Exact same preference applies here. We play VGC and like to talk about experiences and potential Pokémon picks for the regulation. Content doesn’t need production value when the first video on TH-cam ever was a guy recording his trip to the zoo with a camera. Also you missed the point on the guy’s point on showdown, we play showdown cause its faster and easier to talk and discuss about Pokémon since the info like base stats/moves/egg moves/common sets is not available in the game.
Drought doesn't work in showdown 😂 it's lazy trash you play VGC then fucking play VGC it's really simple especially if it's moxies only job take showdown and hoop it 👍
"we are back"
beautiful words ❤

I was using Tera dark knock off Metagross as my psyspam check on my Ultra Ball team. He can't get dire clawed and can hit Gholdengo

Playing Pokémon in showdown as a cheap way to meet your sponsor’s requirements and calling it content is a joke.
You’re in the minority on this. Showdown content is absolutely fine. The vast majority of Pokémon content is filmed with Showdown.
Showdown content is way better than cart. Everyone plays better, faster, and makes more teams since you dont need to farm your team

I think Hisuian-Goodra is good, with support. Acid Armor / Shelter, Body Press, Life Dew even.
I made a curse/gyro ball/ life dew/ breaking swipe trick room team that I wasn’t embarrassed of with H-Goo
The Goomy family is my favorite Pokémon as a kid, and it still is.
