The place that Jim mentioned in the opening poem acknowledgement was Meaford, Ontario, Canada...it is located near the top of the Bruce Peninsula in the southern part of the province, and the only way that the one who sent in that poem could have watched Card Sharks then was by cable TV...she would not have been able to watch it over the air, because Meaford is too far away from the Canada-U.S. border for anyone to get that channel there that way. WGR-TV, mentioned as well there, is now WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York, the closest NBC affiliate to the international border, and the only East coast one those in all of Central Ontario(Golden Horseshoe included) can see. No U.S. ads can be shown during any daytime, afternoon syndicated, prime time, or late night shows NBC airs to Canada though, because of 'simultaneous substitution', which was put in place by Canada's broadcast regulator, the CRTC, to keep all ad money within Canada's borders. Which I think is dumb. =P
@jerseydevs2000 Well, Alex did have a point. In the first week of the tournament, Gene only won $300, but advanced to the final week because Allen Ludden (who had the highest total of the week, $8,900) was unable to continue due to scheduling conflicts.
Kings, Queens, and Aces are a must!
7s and 8s, will make you go bust-
On #CardSharks!
I loved this tournament! Can't get enough of it.

Much as I like Alex Trebek, dissing Gene Rayburn on air was not cool IMO.
@nextbarker Probably scale.

He must have been drunk. Looks like he was stealing cue cards from Johnny Carson or something.
Unfortunately, no I don't, sorry. if it comes on soon, I'll get it.
I hate to be a pest again but do you finally have the Sammy Davis Jr. episode from 1981?
Nah... that's Alex's usual dry sense of humor.
Kings, Queens are really nice;
But 7s and 8s will put ya on ice!!!
I wonder what the punishment is for threatening to assault a model...
