I have some fish only tanks with my African cichlids , they are destroyers of plants 🌱 they are beautiful fish. I like it all , I haven’t done a saltwater tank…yet, but maybe someday. Thanks Ian 🙂👍🏻and you are absolutely right, I’ve been in the hobby seriously since 1974 and I can attest you never stop learning⭐️
Hi Ian! This question is always at the origin of new and old aquarium hobbyists. I love both worlds and together with them the little known brackish environment. One could argue for hours and days on this question of the title, I have traveled a lot and worked underwater as a guide and diving instructor in both marine and freshwater environments from the tropic of cancer to those of capricorn and the question I am often asked from friends and acquaintances is what is the most beautiful submerged place you've seen? Difficult to give an answer because each environment is unique and can host different habitats and endemisms that you would not see elsewhere. But I see it from the point of view of a biologist and it is different from that of the hobbyist and enthusiast. Good weekend.
Id like to see that controller board again. Going to look for your old build video again. Watched it dozens of times. Just ordered some expanded PVC board for under the 75. Dig the content man. Catch you soon man
I started with freshwater 12 years ago but I got bored and the colors just weren't doing it for me after a while haha. Corals and fish are so much more colorful on the saltwater side. I like both but I prefer saltwater myself for sure. We are all just a bunch of water chemist trying to keep corals/plants and fish alive and happy!
Great Video Ian! While the goal of a hobby should not be to make money, I would say that freshwater has more things one can do, from breeding to plant sales and at times with less effort. I do still want to try a macro algea tank at some point.
I'm watching this video on my cell phone with my earbuds and I could hear water running. So I'm running around the house looking for a water leak only to realize it was coming from your video Ian!!😂
Saltwater is SO MUCH more fulfilling than fresh in my opinion! I have been dwindling my freshwater down for two years now to go full on Saltwater. My Discus are the only freshwater I just can't part with YET!😊

Thanks, I get that as well, colorful fish are cool, I'm a sucker for brown fish with fun personality.

Thank you! Would love to see how you do a nano macro algae tank, the textures and colors can get crazy!

Hey Sara! I hope your doing well!

I'm still attached to my freshwater fish, they are my buddies and I can't find myself to get rid of them yet. But saltwater is really fun
The hobby, fresh or salt, is so much more enjoyable if you're not out to make money. Just my opinion.
Agreed!!
