Life as a mom in NYC | running errands, why I'm struggling, getting tested for ADHD

  • Hi everyone! Join me for a relaxing day where we ate the most delicious Moroccan food at Tara Kitchen in Tribeca and tried to pick up clothes from Shopboy (and failed). Then, a life update about why I'm struggling right now, breastfeeding my 9-month-old, and finally getting evaluated for ADHD for the first time.
I never thought I had ADHD as a kid - I always just felt different and lazy compared to other kids. This week, I will get the results of the testing. I feel like ADHD explains a lot of the struggles I've had my whole life, both academically and professionally. Despite being a high-achieving student, it was very hard for me to work 9-5 in corporate America. Eventually, I decided to work for myself and then to become a SAHM. Being a SAHM is not easy for me, either. Most days, I struggle to do a single chore. As much as I love my daughter, I don't really enjoy being a SAHM. I enjoy working really hard on something productive that requires all my attention, and changing diapers and following my baby around just isn't it. That's okay, though, and I'm learning how to balance doing something for myself, like filming and editing, with taking care of her. I know that things can change very quickly - it's possible I'll feel really different once she can walk and talk. For now, I'm just trying to be present and enjoy the positives, even though it feels like I won't have a life until I'm done breastfeeding. I wish we could find a formula she could tolerate, but she has CMPA and we have had no luck with alternatives so far.
About me: Just a 30-something Millennial who recently became a mom and came to TH-cam to talk through her feelings about motherhood. My content is about trying to have it all as a woman in 2024, raising a biracial and multicultural child, and wearing NYC fashion.
