    I have been using Griot’s Garage for years! I have a family member that runs their bottling and distribution plant here in Indianapolis. Needless to say I know all their products top to bottom. The tops on the bottles are dome tops so you can spread Polishes or waxes out on a foam pad easily. Not sure why they use those tops on their soaps.
    Speed Shine is also a great Detailer and it doubles as a clay lubricant. Best of Show Detailer is amazing. Richard Griot’s is very hands on with the company. He picks out the bottles and every product has to be the exact color and smell he wants.
    The other Spray wax is called Spray on Wax and it is a drying aid only. It’s not meant for a dry surface like Best of Show Spray Wax. It gives you about a weeks of protection. Best of Show can give you close to a month of protection. Best of Show kind of beads water like a SIO2 does.
    If you ever have a question about their products just let me know. BTW Super Concentrated car wash foams pretty good even though it isn’t a snow foam product.

      I had a bit of the jelly beans going with BOS but its not like a bead monster. interesting though didnt know it lasted a month, dont think I got that from it. but im gonna like do a 5 way detail spray shoot out with some other good ones soons and measure performance a bit closer and look at beading and gloss and all that stuff a bit like the 5 way spray sealant thing I did.

      @FAB Automotive Detailing. So with the spray on wax being a drying aid, will it not help boost the current coat of wax on a car? Also, what is the difference between speed shine and best of show detailer?

    • @FABAutomotiveDetailing
      @FABAutomotiveDetailing 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Brandon Herrera Spray on Wax will help boost your base wax in between washes. Speed Shine is a quick Detailer and clay lubricant with no polymers or waxes in it. Best of Show Detailer is a quick Detailer only with polymers and waxes. Best of Show flashes fast so it can be used in direct sunlight and speed shine can not be. Hope this helps!

    I live a few minutes from Griot's flagship store in Tacoma, Washington. I really like most of their products and have probably owned every cleaning product they sell. However, I don't love their Car Wash. I find it not to lather/foam enough and not to remain foamy in my bucket for very long. But I still like their sprays and I use their full line of paint correction/protection creams and pads, and have been happy. You also have the option of buying all of their bottles as empty, which I really like and use for other products and even house cleaning. They also have excellent customer service at their physical store, 100% satisfaction guarantee with their products as far as I can tell.

    Hi Jon, great content as usual. I use to use Milton sterilising fluid on the wifes Audi tt Roadster roof after washing it, Mix 1:1 then spray on, leave for a few mins and dry off, never had a problem with mould on the 10yr old fabric roof and it was kept outside all the time. Never tried it on leather though but might be worth a punt. Good Luck

    50/50 White Vinegar and water is what I use! The smell really isn’t that bad but I also use a respirator while cleaning because mold is really bad for your lungs. Once dry I go over with an interior cleaner and then an Interior Detailer.

    Those two Griots products are PHENOMENAL! I could care less how much it costs because the quality is double of what you will get from Meguiars. They all smell great and have excellent bottles.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the price is irrelevant to some peeps J.T I like that, I can understand why you like it. I do believe its a really good quality formulation and bottle. Others though just will stick to like 10-12 pounds for detail sprays. theres no right or wrong. And you do get 22oz. so really the BOS one its close to sort of 14.50 real price for 500ml so its perhaps 2-3 pounds above average. 16.95 makes it sound worse but it does put it in that bracket where you sort of "feel" the extra cost a bit more. it is very very good though.

    Jon when I first began detailing my car, I started with Griots products. The thing I liked initially was that everything was in a system. Almost every product was integrated. What I found was, Griots do a lot of things real well but don’t seem to do anything exceptional. Now that’s just my opinion. I still use some of them. Their clay and Speed Shine Quick Detailer are great. Still use them. Just some thoughts from a Griots user. Cheers.

    I have used a number of detailing sprays over the years and have been generally happy with Mother's, Meguire's etc. I now use the Griots Best in Show Detailing Spray and think it's the best I've used. It's easy to use and you get such a deep, clear, glossy result. After using it on a panel, your reflection is like looking in a mirror.

    For the mould there is a patio product called 'wet and forget'. It is activated by water so you would have to wipe your seats over with a damp cloth every week or so. It does an excellent job of killing the spores on concrete - some of that highly diluted may work, other than that you need a fungicide or it will keep coming back. I guess this time of year you get the damp and then the heat from the heater, ideal conditions.

    Hey Jon, you should try testing Griots "Boss" system especially the "Correcting Cream" . There are 4 different compounds in the Boss system and Correction Cream does a good job on light to medium damage. The "Best of Show" line of compounds by Griots are now outdated.

    I've found your content brilliant, over the past 18months i've found a little bit of an obsession for detailing my family cars and work van. Your recommendation of the Bilt-Hamber line of products was an eye opener, the snow-foam's ability to actually clean without removing protection was brilliant, compared to the ValetPro 2 in one which i now just use as a strip-wash because it kills all waxes/sealants in it's path; not the best at dirt cleaning though strangely enough!
    Would be brilliant if you could do a trip to see Jim White, he comes across as a likable character with an obsessive nature, a British Obsessed Garage but a bloke you can actually like!
    On a note of your car, you actually make the M1 look like a nice car with how immaculate it is, GTI red on a BMW though....!

    I've used hydrogen peroxide at 1 to 2 percent on leather sofa to kill mould. I've heard of mould coming from air con vents in car might be worth a clean out with one of those mould and anti bacterial foam cleaners. Also really interesting to see the test panel as I found the same with BSD and wet coat. I thought it was completely gone no protection then a wash and it's back.

  • @bpsdetailing8822
    @bpsdetailing8822 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    BSD and Wet Coat are the only products I use in that category. Griot's makes some good stuff! I really like their BOSS fast correcting cream and standard correcting cream, they are my second choice after SONAX cutmax and perfect finish. Griot's is about half the price of Sonax and is almost as good. Almost all Griot's stuff smells nice too! The Griot's bottles are particularly nice, most of the bottles for most products in the US also come with terrible sprayers.
    PS - it is pronounced GREE-OH's.

      the SI02 or like hydrophobic stuff is cool, Im just not sure if I want to be using all the time. can end up like plastering the car in product. dunno though can have its place when you feel like the car protection is dying or dead and you can slap something on that makes it all beady etc.. theres definetly a place for that but Im not sure I want all that in a QD. I'm the same, have had a tin of Collinite 476 MDE on the go for a while and I just enjoy the application and removal twice a year or so. I mix up Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash 20-25ml (which is basically the .75oz on their metering bottle) per litre of water in a spray bottle and use that as a detail spray and drying aid every time I wash the car, leaves some nice shine and slickness to compliment the Collinite and its terrifically cost effective.

    • @jamesbutler606
      @jamesbutler606 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've decided against ceramic coating my new car, since it gets a bath every saturday morning i think a nice wax would be good to make it shine, but it's a dark metalic grey so not sure what wax to use to bring out the sparkle and make it a little deeper, my silver car that i just got rid of was ceramic coated and that worked a treat on that but i did use carnuba wax on it a little while ago and that seemed good for briinging it up sparkling, i have heard that synthetic waxes are better for dark and metalic vs a carnuba for flat light colours, but then i am still learning and spending far too much money on this stuff! Think i've spend well over 2k of business funds on equipmunk and products over the last 18months!

      cool stuff Paul, they are a solid brand with some good products. its worth like doing a 50-50 on BSD up against any like water based spray protection products thats good. BSD always seems to win on like durability and how like how strong that repellency is and how long it keeps going. It does clog up with dirt though. lots of peeps love it some dont like it because they just want something slick and slippy. but its definetly a powerhouse product and its unique as well i think. i reckon you will like it. look forward to watching mate.

    I consider BOS detailer the best detail spray, from ease of use, gloss, slickness, cleaning ability and durability and it's cheap in the US, usually $12 from my autozone. I primarily use it as a drying aid and it works wonderful for that. Sad that it's expensive in the UK, even though I consider it better than most detail sprays that are much more expensive.

    • @ldtriton
      @ldtriton 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely one of the best when it comes to straight up clean cut detailing sprays. It also has the unbelievable ability to dry totally streak free. Sun, shade, humidity... you name it, I can't get this stuff to streak if someone paid me to do it. Lol!

    • @christophertapkins7515

      @@ldtriton i get water residue that drys on the car after I dry it, but if I use this as a drying aid, it will come off instantly with one pass of a towel. The last quick wipe down makes my car look perfect. Just the ease of use alone makes me recommend this more than most detail sprays.

      @@christophertapkins7515 Hey hopefully you can answer my quesitons? I'm debating which product to buy... either BOS detailer or the BOS spray wax. I plan to use it as a drying aid over my already protection (Will be Collinite 476s) and use it to dry/clean door jambs after a wash. Griot on their website say the spray on wax is for drying aid while detailer isn't which is why it's kind of confusing me. But for you you had it works pretty well? It's either I get this or CG V07 which seems to be more of a sealant + detailer. But I think the BOS Detailer is more like a hybrid detailer and wax to... I'm really un sure tho what to get.

    • @christophertapkins7515
      @christophertapkins7515 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JackRR15 I use the bos detail spray as a drying aid and it works just fine. I use on top of my ice paste wax, has no issue with it. Also I wouldn't use v07 because it doesn't really last long when it comes to beading, I tend to get 2 months on my car with bos detailer, but I keep mine in a garage. Also the v07 is pretty expensive. I tried a bunch of detail sprays and bos tends to be the best because of price, usability and how easy I can get it. All I can really say is try to get your hands on it and try it out.

    John that model of 1 Series has a common fault on leaking rear seat belt bolts. There has also been reports that BMW have fitted the rear filter in these up side down what causes moisture/water in the rear might why getting mold would of thought would been worse than what you're getting but worth looking into it perhaps.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks so much thats very insteresting that rear seat was loose when the car turned up. like someone had unclipped it to check something under it. Ill pop that seat out and check. so theres like an air filter under the seat?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I poped the back seat up. And its bone dry under there. My best guess is before I owned it got wet. maybe the air filter issue. maybe BMW fixed it. I think if there was a water leak from the PDC filter I would had the problem come through a long time ago. Im guessing though that at one stage it had a PDC filter issue and below the rear seats got wet, and prolly mould started. so hopefully I just need to hit the little patches with mould killer and it should be ok. note the VP product didnt kill the mould properly because it came back. so ill try vineger perhaps.

    • @Lordfiller
      @Lordfiller 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ForensicDetailing Probably right there John, I would suspect BMW checked it was installed correctly when they got it if the seat was un-clipped, It was something for consideration to be fair. If it was leaking by the PDC you would definitely be getting some form of error by now .I don't believe you would be getting mould like that from the weather outside though. I believe your suspicions are correct there was probably a issue in the past and hasn't be removed properly especially in the time frame, Gtechniqe do some interesting anti-bac stuff that looks good however your judgements have never steered me wrong. I hope it hasn't gotten into the foam under the leather as that would mega suck. Good Luck!

    50/50 water and vinegar gets my vote as well, and consider using a dehumidifier to dry things out, maybe have it in your garage and occasionally park indoors, crack the windows open a little (or a lot, depending on critters in your garage) and run the dehumidifier overnight. When I had bad odors in a carpet of a car I bought, I cleaned and extracted and then put water/vinegar in the extractor tank and went over everything again, which of course smelt but I left the dehumidifier in the vehicle overnight to dry things out and it was daisies the next day.

    Hi, as to your seats you should direct yourself to A/C disinfecting products. Bear in mind that some are just refresheners, you need those which are bio-active. What I would do is:
    1.try cleaninig the seats with 70% ipa-leave until dries off. This dilution actually kills more bacteria than 99% ipa, which evaporates too quickly according to research i’ve read. I do not know how leather would behave, so it’s best to try on a small patch or even ask guys at colourlock what they think.I believe should be ok, since the coating layer is undamaged.
    2.buy an a/c cleaning spray can to run the whole interior, once again, it has to be stated that it is anti-bacterial. One such I recommend is professional grade loctite hygiene spray. I’d run two cans consecutively (cheap)
    3. Ozone the interior
    4l. Leave the leather unsealed for some time/let it breathe and wait to see if the funghi bastards don’t reappear :)
    Hope that helps. I’ve been tackling a neglected a/c in my new-old car and did lot’s of funghi-fighting wanting to avoid tearing the dashboard out to get to the evaporator. Sometimes the process needs repeating once or twice,but should work.

      I couldnt see any difference with this product and CG speed wipe. I didnt think it was a bad product by any means. but I just couldnt buy into the sort durable long lasting protection part of the product claims. V07 just felt like a standard detail spray to me makes the car look good, nice to use etc.. no problems but speedwipe gave me the same results.

    Hi Jon, try the new Gyeon quick detailer if you don't want to add protection. I have the Syncro kit on my Estoril Blue M140i and tried their QD out last week. Impressed with the amount of gloss it added (I know ceramics sometimes struggle with this). Was very easy to apply, smelled very nice (almost similar to BSD?). I'm a sucker for using a 'system' so wanted to try it out.
    As far as the mould goes, unfortunately the best way is to fix the moisture source. Maybe some of those silicone bags in the passenger footwells or put a heater in for half an hour every few weeks? All the best. Chris.

    Regarding the Sonax BSD, I've noticed that it doesn't really do much in the way of repelling dirt. If anything it *might* be a bit sticky to dirt. I Have a nightmare removing winter road grime over the BSD (jet wash only shifts the loose top layer), but I continue to use it because that beading and durability is addictive 😅 I'm hoping to give it a coat of Fusso Coat soon, so I'll curious to see of that helps with the road film removal as I here it has good dirt repellent properties!

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think your right and I think BSD seems to get masked with dirt a lot more than the others. And also just rinsing BSD doesnt seem to free it up. Theres a lot to be said for products that leave a smooth silky finish but offer good dirt repellency and its one of the reasons I dont typically use BSD. but its still kind of very good at what it does.

    How many times has your washing machine walked away from the wall and you still haven't fixed it? Can you fasten down a 1 x 4 board with holes drilled to accept the feet? Also, is it possible to put a zip tie around the drain hose and stand pipe? If your supply hoses are damaged while you are away from home, you'll really have a mess to clean up

    Hello jon, seeing that you have a karcher i was wondering if you’ve ever thought of getting a little stubby gun? I’ve had one for my karcher and it’s been great, i’d say it makes cleaning my wheels alot quicker and easier and even makes switching between snowfoam cannon a lot faster due to having quick disconnects. Not sure if its something you’ve looked into or wondered about getting but excel detailing supplies sell them and they’re great.can’t recommend the gun enough, not only you but other detailers in the section may be wanting a stubby gun for their pressure washer? Just thought i’d tell you. Great vid!

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      might do arron. I sort of use the pressure washer for 2 things, layout foam, and pressure wash. And the standard gun thing lets me to that. I think one day Id like the proper setup. I know matt does a lot of stuff stateside with pressure washers and guns and stuff. To get a good setup I would need to have sort of 500-600 quid to put into it. Its not that I dont have that money, its just theres so many other things you are constantly having to pay for in life, so like its a balancing act. But like as the years roll buy everything I get seems to get better. so yer one day ill invest in all this stuff, maybe when I upgrade my garage next and maybe do the whole wall mounted thing.

    Would you please mesure the gloss of BOS detailer, so we can compare it to Bead Maker?

    I’m interested in the gloss levels..

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      stay tuned. the gloss level you get back though depends on the gloss level of the material you are putting it on. put this or any detail spray on a glossy and no product really makes much difference. put it on average paint and theres some difference. I can measure some of the performance of these products. I need a lower base which I can get on the test panels. so I can give you a comparison. I would guess BM edges it on gloss perhaps. not sure though. after I washed with the griots shampoo the car was looking smoking even before I put BOS on. but I just liked the BOS for how it was to use and how it tidied up the car etc.. interested myself to see how BOS scales with gloss testing.

    • @BAYRAGDAR
      @BAYRAGDAR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forensic Detailing Channel , yup totaly true.
      I think your car reached the top level of gloss. There is no more. Its not fear as a test material. Thats why you are looking for a pure detailer.
      The anglewax QED would be perfect for you if they drop the beading abilities.
      But I’m intrested in BOS detailer too , and willing to get a gallon if it kills Bead Maker in terms of gloss.
      I have both of them in 16 oz. But I cant tell a difference!!
      I put three products on three different panels of my car ( bead maker, BOS detailer and anglewax Enigma QED) and I cant see a difference.
      Thats why I’m giving you the flag ha ha

      BH auto foam is absolutely great when you have correct PIR (Panel Impact Ratio), you can follow instructions about dilution on they web page bilt-hamber.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/43000071509-how-do-i-go-about-ensuring-the-concentration-of-auto-foam-is-correct-for-my-pressure-washer-
      When you calculate correct amount - depending on your pressure washer - the amount of product is insanely high, but the trick is that you only need a thin layer of product on car and that works well. Lots of people will use it in pump sprayer - that you can even more conserve Auto Foam.

    Top video as usual and same as yourself, i much prefer a qd to be a qd lol, just add gloss and be a final wipe down product, to many qd's out now that are more like sealants, nothing wrong with adding protection but i would rather add more protection in the form of a proper sealant or wax, if and when needed.
    I mean people will use sonax bsd for example after every wash which most people will do weekly and say 6 months down the line put a video up on facebook or wherever and say wow look at my so and so wax still beading like the day i applied it, errrrrre no thats the sonax bsd, your wax is probably dead.
    Iam rambling now haha anyway qd's for me should just add gloss and be a finishing product and add zero or very little protection, let the protection products do that.
