It is the propellant that that is solvent based in normal sprays, this stuff uses something different and as a result doesn't melt the foam and can be used indoors as it doesn't small as much.
Oh my GOSH these are gorgeous and honestly SUPER inspiring. I went feral after your Colette Display Box video and I'm feeling the same itch now! Malifaux environs could be REALLY cool. Also the fact that you did scenic design in school explains so much! Absolutely awesome!
I have a diorama I made similar to this, although I planned where all of my models would go very carefully. After having them all planned out, I made holes where I wanted them to be so that their bases could be disguised as part of the diorama. Then, when I was ready to play, I could take them off. It also gave me a reason to start another army, so that I could have a battle scene.
Thank goodness for backyard bricks! Crumpled aluminum foil works well also. In case you don’t have any more backyard bricks. I too love the smell of fresh cut grass tufts! Your boards look awesome!!! Really like the dungeon one. Great job! Looks awesome!! The army painter rep: ok if you turn to page 4 of the dungeon instructions, oh ok……that’s ok we will try the tundra instructions, wait if you look at…..what you can’t read… Thanks gents fantastic as always!!
Man, the way you talk, your ideas, the result. I'm a fan. You've got it, thank you very much, you just make me sad that I'm trying to do the same thing and not getting the same result.
I love the videos where you build stuff!! much more than those where you "just" paint.... hahaha!. Merry Christmas EoB familiy! Greetings from Spain! 😘😘😘😘
These are a bunch of nice display pieces. I have the Dungeons and Caverns starter set and have found the foam a bit difficult to work with but everything else fine for what it is - after seeing this I may pick up some of the other sets. As you seem to be getting more into board and scenics you may want to check out some of Geek Gaming Scenics products, his modelling compound (similar to Sculptamould) dries very quickly and can also be smoothed very easily and carved when dry. His matt sealant does what your watered down ModPodge does but has additives to help it penetrate better. Plus there are tons of Tufts, Basing material and Static Grasses. Some of his early videos give you tips for making these things yourself or cheap alternatives (for innstance 2 part epoxy glue and nail polish remover for water). Something that a lot of American/Canadian/Scandanavian TH-camrs don't realise is that in the UK it is not easy to pop to your local store and pick up Insulation Foam as we don't have the severe cold weather so buying the stuff can be pricey as we have to buy it online usually pre-cut into A4/A3 sheets (we can order full sheets from builders merchants but there is usually a minimum order. Any how keep up the good work
Jay, all of these dioramas are beautiful. I watch several other channels on YT that create terrain , but I have to say that yours looks better than theirs. I would love to see you make more terrain and don’t be afraid to show the details to help us less talented copy your work. Thanks dude!
The terrain spray paint is cool (for foam) I primed a cardboard Ork house with it and it looks like a Ruffle Potato Chip. Thankfully it’s Orks and doesn’t matter.
These are genuinely pretty awesome and inspirational! I have the original dungeons and caverns kit and my imagination kind of got stuck at the concept of 2d gridded dungeon tiles for D&D, these are all really impressive and should be scalable to something the size of a full board.
what would be neat is to make a diorama alongside an army, creating holes for the bases of the models that allow you to seamlessly integrate the bases with the diorama. Then convert that into a carrying case so when you show up to a game your army is being displayed in their natural habitat before being moved to the likely incongruous game board
All of these came out awesome, and the ice one is my favorite too. Now I need you to make an entire Hoth board and paint up armies for Blizzard Force and Echo Base Defenders battle forces. 😁
"How about we do a 180." *Goes to a bome that is known to undergo cycles of rapid cooling and warming that cause it to have jegged weathering patterns in the mountains.*
Only barely related to the video but your Deathguard have always given me sort of nautical vibes? Like those ooooold old brass diving suits or something, fit the sewer/dungeon pretty well
Man, I wish you guys had an end card or something. By the time the video ends and I remember to give it a like (if I haven't during a funny bit), there's already an ad playing and it fiddly to get back to the video I just watched.
For anyone working with XPS boards, be sure to wear a mask and that you're in a well-ventilated area. Heat-cutting the foam produces fumes while cutting it with a knife produces dust - both of which are carcinogenic.
These dioramas are really astounding! I REALLY liked the Dungeon and the Ice ones, but also the others are fantastic! P.s. next time you could try to build a Dover-like cliff, the contrast btw the upper green part and the white wall would be very visual, expecially with a sandy beach.
I love this Pleague guard shemen , whats the opinion on the Kill Team: Gellerpox hosts ? maybe to mix up the poxwalker a bit , there quiet something :)
You show up to a tournament with a special case that opens to reveal all of your minis standing in a diorama. You instantly get swarmed with people taking pictures and slapping you on the back… then you get smashed hard before turn 3.
5:30 "Where the desert meets the mountains" Another possibility is an _escarpment_. In North Africa, it was a boundary between the lowland coastal desert and the inland desert. Was quite a thing in WW2. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escarpment
It’s insane that you guys are able to upload these quality videos 3 times a week I tip my hat to you EOB
I agree with this person
How can he possibly have more to say? Well He Does
Pro Tip: use a #2 pencil when adding the engravings into the rock ;)
And, the BLood is EXACTLY what it's intended for. Well done coming to that conclusion!
No way EOB didn’t notice that the real @TheArmyPainter comment
That spray paint looks pretty neat. I'm impressed that nothing melted!
It is the propellant that that is solvent based in normal sprays, this stuff uses something different and as a result doesn't melt the foam and can be used indoors as it doesn't small as much.
I liked that you stayed in the boxes and did not reach into your bag of tricks (too much) but showed us what could be done with each box. Well done.
Dude, your work rate is unbelievable. I’m such a perfectionist that I’ve been painting an Ork Deff Dread for 3 months!
okay?
I'm 100% the same haha.
I had this one Assault Intercessor that I could never get just right and I've been painting it for over 1 year now.
Lmfao

I sure wish Army Painter brought you on board for the Speedpaint development team. I would have loved to see your input on their upcoming line.

“Oh no, the instructions!” Awesome video, and the display boards turned out great!

Thanks gents fantastic as always!!
Mad respect for Jay and the team for making these awesome Table-top Wargaming hobby and crafts related videos each month!!!
So on point about the Midwest. When I would fly back to Chicago for Christmas, everything was so grey.
That ice board looks so cool! Just right for the season.
They look great!
You should do a thick jungle display something like Warhammer Fantasy Lustria or 40K Catachan?
Im gonna have to get my hands on some of these boxes, theyre a decent price and come with a good chunk of stuff! The boards look fantastic!
Reall nice job, my favorite is the forest one, second ice and third the dessert one.
Incredible video. Has me curious to try some DIY projects myself as that might be the special sauce I lack in my hobby atm. Thanks Jay!
I was not expecting to see a Cliff Richard reference today but I am here for it. Great work as always!

Ayyeeeeeee that hoen bridge on-ramp shot was awesome! Good ol desaturated milwaukee
Now I need a foam cutter in my life. That ice board looked so fun to play on
I am currently working on my own Miniature Diorama and this is really inspiring
It isn’t warhammer but still

I love the gamemaster stuff and I want to build so much but have no room. You did an amazing job with these dioramas. Love watching your videos.
Sweet display boards Jay! I'm currently working on one to hang on my wall to display my khorne bloodbound warband. Thanks for all the videos
The terrain spray paint is cool (for foam) I primed a cardboard Ork house with it and it looks like a Ruffle Potato Chip. Thankfully it’s Orks and doesn’t matter.
I love these. You make it look effortless!
These are genuinely pretty awesome and inspirational! I have the original dungeons and caverns kit and my imagination kind of got stuck at the concept of 2d gridded dungeon tiles for D&D, these are all really impressive and should be scalable to something the size of a full board.
Those look so good! And just in time... You made me want to get some Malifaux minis, and a scenic base for them would add soooo much!
"Its basically one big forrest..and Chicago"
Me:YEeAAAAhhhh!!!
Wow this is a great idea! Im gonna give this mini display boards a try! Great video!!!
These came out great! I think the desert one is my favorite.
Love Army Painter stuff!

Really impressive, such great results and blimey, so quick to finish them !
Really enjoyed this one! loads of inspiration.
I love the ice board. I recently purchased 8 realm of battle panels that I want to do in a snowy icy battleground but Im a bit overwhelmed
This was great video. Really inspiring builds. Went to check these products out before the video was finished.
I have no idea why but I was seriously laughing at "Old Cliff"
"Hi my names Jay and I got me a brick" haha great video, I'm super interested in display boards
Wow. That's a great video. Although being sponsored those terrain boxes leave a good impression
This video gave so much inspection! Thank you!!
I probably would have swapped the scouts and kroot around but this honestly looks great. Can't wait to get a bigger place to build my own.
Have you seen the mortal followers of Slaanesh in AOS, some really underated minis
It's great to meet a fellow scenic designer! Great work!
"How about we do a 180."
*Goes to a bome that is known to undergo cycles of rapid cooling and warming that cause it to have jegged weathering patterns in the mountains.*
This was a great commercial. Army Painter should commission you more often.
6:50 dying at the Cliffs montage
Love the ice planet board!
Sewer is the best for me. The forest looks more like a field.
this is such a big win! looks great!
I'd love to see more terrains tuff like this!
Only barely related to the video but your Deathguard have always given me sort of nautical vibes? Like those ooooold old brass diving suits or something, fit the sewer/dungeon pretty well

Very useful video for terrain making! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
'Old Cliffs' 😂😂😁😁😄😄🤣🤣
I’ve been wanting to build shadow boxes for my armies to display them. So this is great timing
For anyone working with XPS boards, be sure to wear a mask and that you're in a well-ventilated area. Heat-cutting the foam produces fumes while cutting it with a knife produces dust - both of which are carcinogenic.
What is this paste that you use at 4:28? Awesome video btw, this gave me some inspiration!
I wish I knew this guy... seems like he would be a good friend.
As someone from Milwaukee, I can confirm the Midwest is desaturated during our 6 months of winter
Sir you inspired me to create my own display board. I'm planning to make one for my necrons and space marines.
One alternative to stressing over what your base compared to your board is, make your own board that fits your minis.
We love you Zorpazorp! ❤
LOL my Astra Militarum soldiers are always walking through wet lands
"oooo instructions" Tosses
This guy is very much artist
I can sooooo see Rasputina (from Malifaux) on that ice board!
I know this is an old video, but I really needed to see you throw those instructions on the last terrain set...
These dioramas are really astounding! I REALLY liked the Dungeon and the Ice ones, but also the others are fantastic!
P.s. next time you could try to build a Dover-like cliff, the contrast btw the upper green part and the white wall would be very visual, expecially with a sandy beach.
Brilliant video as always 😍
This video was Perrrrrrrrrrrrfect
grimdark future....on ice! lol great stuff man
Trying to get into battlefield scenes
This video gave me an idea on where to start thank you
Got to admit, seeing a cliff Richard joke was something I wasn't expecting, well done lads 👏
These are great! You should do some Star Wars ones!
Very creative!
Yes! New eob video!
the warmaster boxes are pretty dope ngl
Huge fan of your work. You guys are awesome. I just wish I didn't wait till I was 40 to get interested in this
39 here. I kind of agree I wish I would have found this before 39, but at least when I found the hobby I have the money to spend.
The snow/ice one reminded me a bit of the planet Ilum
5:25 ”Ooh instructions” (proceeds to Throw away the instructions)
Jay is living the dream!
where did you get that cup for your airbrush?! Mine has a downwards pointing intake as well but I want to use that cup!
Every man ever, ohh instructions! `throws over shoulder`
I love this Pleague guard shemen , whats the opinion on the Kill Team: Gellerpox hosts ? maybe to mix up the poxwalker a bit , there quiet something :)
I love the death guard one. also I love their bases. do you have a tutorial on those bases. if not could you give me the recipe. thanks
Loved this video so many idea's now 👍
I always love how you sneak in the Patreon plug - so smooth it could put LinusTechTips to shame!
yes exactly what I wanted!
You show up to a tournament with a special case that opens to reveal all of your minis standing in a diorama. You instantly get swarmed with people taking pictures and slapping you on the back… then you get smashed hard before turn 3.
lmao "old Cliff"... enter Cliff Richard brilliant
The ice spike diorama is my favorite, it reminds me of subnautica
If you love orange, try painting the covenant of fire sm chapter.
5:30 "Where the desert meets the mountains" Another possibility is an _escarpment_. In North Africa, it was a boundary between the lowland coastal desert and the inland desert. Was quite a thing in WW2.

"Oh no, the instructions!" Haha
Please do a light up board. Street lights, posters . Or crisis protocol modern
If the models are still on bases it is a display stand not a diorama. They have the models built into the scenery, and tell a specific story.
