Gotta be honest. I love the vocal effects they used to make Oscar Isaac´s voice feel inhuman and powerful. Just the different tones and reverberation it has really makes a major difference.

There is likely more going on inside her, where Psylocke can feel herself getting more powerful. She might even try to reduce the strength of the blade, but it still remains the same as Apocalypse keeps improving her.
So figure she is part of a minority group, has had to do illegal/distasteful things in order to survive and protect others like her, then someone comes in and gives her power (and likely also uses subtle brainwashing to convince her to join him). Apocalypse is selecting people who are in vulnerable positions, empowering them, and giving them a chance for revenge.
I assume its because the mutant gene hadnt spread as far as it did in the Egyptian era he ruled
Back then mutations were way more basic so when he saw stuff that looked average based on what the audience has seen for him he was like "oh shit didn't have those in Egypt" and assumed they were powerful
Then by the time he interacted with other mutants he was kinda already in the final battle and didn't have time to recruit anyone else

I remember in one animated version, Apocalypse empowered Mystique and made her one of his “horsemen”. Initially I thought, “she’s pretty weak, how great can she be?” But then she could turn into a large amount of snakes, turn into gas, could turn into ANYTHING. She became OP as hell.
I think the others were Xavier (very OP), Magneto (very OP) and Storm (quite OP). Was a dominant group of horsemen.

X-Men Evolution was the cartoon, & this was actually the series finale.
Storm and Magneto were excellent choices for Apocalypse's horsemen. Angel and Psylocke, not so much. Their powers are just not versatile enough. Xavier and Jean Grey would've been awesome the round it out ... although I'm not sure enhancing Jean's powers would be all that wise.

Angel had always been consistently chosen in the comic books, becoming Archangel. don't know much more than that, and i know next to nothing about psylocke
In the comics, Angel was one of the strongest in the X-men academy, hand to hand combat and he knew every weakness of the X-mens, Apocalypse enhance his pyshical and wings so he became the strength of the horseman. Psylocke ... i think they choose it because they think it was cooler to see in movies than Caliban and ... they didnt have much mutants to make Caliban overpowered.

What makes you believe he unlocked her full potential? he won't do it until she is on his side, he just gives her a taste of the things to come as any good salesman will do. And he clearly is: he appeals to her experience of control as a woman and sells her his cause in seconds. I am sure, talking about potential, that you could have seen this reply if you had actually engaged system 2.
Apocalypse just rolls his eyes and gains a new power, I don’t know why he needs Xavier when he can just roll his eyes.
Movie did a poor job explaining it. He wants Xavier, because he can reach every human and mutant mind on the planet all at once. With that power, Apocalypse could instantly do whatever he wanted to every single human and empower every single mutant (or kill them, if they oppose him). Charles needs Cerebro to get that much access to people that far away, but amplifying powers is something Apocalypse can already do on his own. If he'd gained Charles' power, it was game over for anyone on Earth not on the side of Apocalypse.
He's powerful and has many abilities, but he doesn't have all of them. Telepathy on the level that Charles has is quite rare and exceptionally powerful. For someone like Apocalypse, who can amplify it even further, it would have been enough to become an instant world conqueror.
I was surprised he was no match for Phoenix…….hahaha….oh well.

I love how in the end the thing that defeated him was essentially evolution. The guy had been asleep 3000 years and seriously thought nothing had changed. In the meantime nature produced Jean Grey, something he could never anticipate.

As a huge, lifelong comic book nerd anything that makes the movies resemble the comics more closely gets my approval. The movies already change so many things and I understand why they need to do that, but when an actor or director puts their foot down and says: 'No, I want it this way, exactly like in the comics', I shed a little tear of happiness. Good on them. I, for one, immensely appreciate it.

@@Tony-fq5bn Isaac was a weird choice, but it's much more because Apocalypse was unrelatable, a 2D character. Easiest comparison is probably Thanos worked because his motivation/purpose resonated with people, there was a backstory. Ofc a villain that's pure evil like Palpatine can work too, but that's because we saw how skilled he was at being evil paired with a great performance.
@@hhattonaom9729 I think him being a more one dimensional character would have worked if they had built up to him, similar to what they did in X-Men Evolution. Honestly Fox hasn't been willing to put in the time/didnt have the scope, to really build up the X-Men Universe the way Marvel did with the MCU. Both Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix need build up and Fox just tried to make a quick buck it seems, twice with the Dark Phoenix Story

The costume department tried to give her a more conservative costume. The actress objected and said she wanted her outfit to be comic book accurate since she was a big nerd for Psylocke in the comics.

I think Caliban wasn't one of Apocalypse's Horsemen. But with his power set of detecting mutants Caliban for awhile after FALL OF THE MUTANTS worked for Apocalypse as his Hound.

Best roaster of horseman were in evolution: adult storm, mistique, magneto and professor X. They were actually the strongest and had a personal connection to each xmen.

I haven't seen the complete film, but from the credit scene I imagine that Apocalypse bears the power of resonance. He is able to raise mind in the same way frequency or sound effects sand. Its dailing in resolution, like a telescope for the naked eye. A dangerous ability at human levels. Like graduating from a lighter to a flamethrower. You get a taste and it feels good. Except anyone licensed to operate such equipment would tell you that it took years to master the nuance behind it's operation
