    I recently retired from the Air Force and was looking for something to do why I travel and while traveling through southeast Texas I came across a seasonal job that anyone can do. The job was checking in trucks that were making deliveries to a oil refinery supply company. I worked out of a guard shack, that was setup like a little apartment. The job paid $30 an hour plus overtime, it was 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week and you had to commit to a 90 day contract, If you fulfilled the 90 days there was a nice bonus added. For me it was the perfect job, I live full-time in a transit van and I made enough money that I can just travel the rest of the year if I choose to. I don't have a home base, I mainly boon dock but I do camp at a lot of military campgrounds that are very affordable and you can stay for 30 days at a time

      Thank you for your service! I've heard of gate guarding before and that is another great job! It is nice to have those types of jobs where you work a ton for a few months then have the freedom to do whatever you please afterwards. Thank you for sharing that and watching!

      Prior military myself, currently on disability. Can you name the company that does that? I’m assuming this was in the Midland Odessa area? Looking at full time rv here in the next 6-8 months and this would be a great little gig.

    This is the first time I've seen you, I think TH-cam pushed you into a list of suggestions for me. Great video. I watch a bunch of RV/vanlife channels, mostly retirees, some workers, some living off YT revenue. Though I've seen a few videos on oilfield gate guarding, I've not seen anyone doing just straight skilled/unskilled blue-collar contract work. Unless you count stuff like beet harvest or Amazon warehouses!
    Though I have run across some videos of people getting trained up to work in new chip plants, like the huge ones being built by Phoenix. I think that some people whining about the economy might be expecting the jobs they or their parents used to have, to come back to their hometown, instead of going and finding jobs better than what they want, where those jobs are.
    I've subscribed. I'll watch a bunch of your videos and see if I have anything more useful to say.

      Thank you so much for watching we really appreciate it! I have heard of chip plants (especially in AZ). I agree that's one of the reason we started this channel was to bring a different side to rv life! How we travel, how hard Chase works, our adventures/life with everyone! Thank you for subscribing!!!!! Welcome!!!

    OMG, you only have 4 videos and have only been posting them for a month. I assumed you'd been doing this for much longer, because of how good the video was. Stick with it, just being yourselves, and being helpful like this. Don't degenerate into being all product reviews/sponsorships like most channels when the channel grows a lot. Keep the channel pure for as long as possible, you can always sell out later when it's even bigger.

    The house in the river was built in the 30's. There is another on the other side of the bridge that was built a few years earlier. They have both been wiped out during hurricanes and rebuilt and both are privately owned. I grew up and live in the area.

    Great vid! I have worked seasonal travel jobs in the outdoor industry and the Alaskan salmon season for the past few years. Lots of folks in my life happen to work travel jobs too--from week-on-week-off railroad mechanic to ammonia refrigeration contractor. Being able to compare, I definitely think the trade/skill based travel jobs are the best paying and offer most hours apart from fancypants remote jobs. Thanks for sharing!

The other ones I didn’t know about so thanks for sharing (and watching) I would agree with trade making more cause we’ve turned down jobs cause Chase would make more doing a welding job and we could take off longer. Miss you friend and hopefully we’ll be in your area late summer time!

      we (Chase and I) call them blue collar rv parks because they are not fancy RV parks, pretty much a place with full hook ups and relatively cheap (depending on the area). You will find a ton of workers at these types of RV parks.

    Any jobs for a senior who needs to accumulate the emergency fund necessary to go full-time in my Class B?

    • @Sparks_and_Rec_
      @Sparks_and_Rec_  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question! (if I read your question correctly then I'm assuming you want a way to create a stock pile of $$ before you full-time) I would see if there are any fire watch jobs near you, (www.roaddogjobs.com) you might not get per diem due to living within 50 miles of the plant but you can still make good money (the hours can vary around the 72 but the overtime is really nice, I know it sounds like a lot of hours but fire watch is an easy job). I would also look into reselling whether you buy and flip items for eBay (bunch of resources on TH-cam for that) or any other reselling platform (Facebook marketplace too). Hope that helps. thanks for watching!

      Then you might want look into work camping then, where you live onsite (most of the time). I personally have never seen anyone bring a horse (not saying it isn't possible) but at least a campground would have the room for the horse if you ask. I would google work camping jobs and there's a ton of resources that come up and look up work camping Facebook groups. I would also ask farms around the area you want to be at and just ask if they have work (and a place for your horse) or if they know of any jobs that are what you are looking for. Best of luck!
