1:50 - Confusion is the no.1 reason for tantrums
2:48 - Repeating questions doesn’t help making it clear
4:27 - Explain by showing and a lot of doing, not by telling
7:24 - For consistency, you need quality repetition
9:14 - Saying the word once doesn’t mean it’s consistent

if the child is responding effectively 30% the time, rather than the 90% or100% do you recommend combining the gesture with the speech or only focusing on the gesture initially? Should I be aiming for gestures to be used 90% considering the speech is lacking? when do you move onto gesture+speech?

that's a good question - always pair gestures with speech. there's no need to push for your child to say the word just yet, it's a matter of repetition until he gets the link between the gesture and speech
