- This is the first of my monthly updates on the nanoEdit project.
In early September, I produced a quick 'teaser' style video with no dialog or details; it was the first working prototype of Charles Brannon's SpeedScript editor from the C64 that I was able to get running on a Foenix platform.
(look for this video if you've not seen where I started)
Since that time, I've completely torn apart and reworked the rendering routine, now supporting 40x30, 80x30, and the full 80x60 screen.
This video in particular focuses on the new "data" editing mode which will have many more features to support general interrogation of files, or assembly language scraping, or to copy files, append binaries, or edit specific bytes as needed. It will be a vital tool, unique, but akin to the Track an Sector editors that were popular among developers and crackers in the 80s.
I will update this description with more details and links shortly.
Just Love how the editor is coming along!, so much functionality built in!
Thanks for showing this. Looks like it’s coming together really nicely! 👍🏼
Thank you. Progress has been slow because I'm working on 2 or 3 other major pieces of work but trying to keep them all moving along. Sticking with it and not getting distracted by shiny objects is something that I preach so now I need to deliver : ). I originally thought I would be distributing this by Sept/Oct. but then had the bright idea to develop this data mode that you see here and I'm glad I did as I think alot of people will get use out of it for different purposes. The next major step is a conversion from the OpenFNXkernal to actual MicroKernel (towards the end of January. I'll be doing a monthly update so stay tuned ...
@@8-bitwallofdoom Awesome stuff! As a developer, I think the data mode is a indeed a useful addition. Take your time. Release it only when your happy that you're at a point where a release candidate version will get you any additional feedback you need, to then be happy with a general v1.0 release. I'll be sure to stay tuned. 🤓
