How can you be an underrated vocalist when the bulk of your work at the peak of your carrier was singing stupid songs like "don't cha"? It's no one's fault but her own that the public had no Idea she could sing like this...
having seen her live doing Memories, in the show, it is the singularly best performance I have heard in a musical. Total silence and huge applause at the end it was just magical and awesome. I will never forget it as long as I live.
GOD her belt in "MEEEEMoryyy" at 3:50 is so insanely resonant it fills the performance hall and distorts the camera mic audio slightly. THAT is how you BELT. If it isn't filling the performance hall, you aint doin it right!
I actually felt some pain here while listening to nicole, to the point that i am teary eyed, on the other hand i did not feel anything with leona's performance, leonas voice is good but i can not feel the sorrow that the song is conveying with her singing, i prefer nicoles performance it seems like her heart is breaking...
I‘ve recently fallen in love with CATS (after having seen it in Vienna 2 weeks ago), and have been binge-watching different versions of Memory since then. This is by far the best version I have heard! Nicole Scherzinger is an amazing singer and I am so glad I‘ve come across this video. Really inspires me to work much harder on this song in my choir where I‘m the soloist for Memory...
This is astonishing.... I can't believe I'm about to type this about a Pussycat Doll but I would put her among the best Broadway musical theater actresses working today. I'd LOVE to see her as Evita.
How I wish the alley cats in my neighborhood could sing like her...glorious, phenomenal, tremendous, emotional, spellbindingly beautiful...her rendition shookt me! I am destroyed
Jesus. Nicole's version made tears fall that was unbelievable. I'm glad I'm watching this in bed so no one can see me lol. She's so under rated. World class performance that.
She grew up as a Hawaiian dancer from her mother and then moved to the states and grew up doing musical theatre. Performance is in her blood. She initially tried making it as a solo artist numerous times before joining the Pussycat Dolls.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs from Cats. My brother-in-law is involved in theatre and both times they did Cats they had an amazing Grizabella (it was also by far one of their most popular productions, with every show, even the Thursday evening opening night, selling out, and the hand made, including some by me, leg warmers, arm warmers and tails that at one point were made for other productions to sell as fundraisers). Only reason they didn't do it a third time is that there was either a revival on Broadway or the touring company was in the area
I hope there's a way to convince Nicole Scherzinger to do the broadway revival. :( This is depressing. That would be her biggest break in US. Who watches X Factor anyways????
She can make upwards of $1 million a year on X Factor, so its understandable that she would choose media exposure and her career over /potentially/ winning a Tony.
Personally, I prefer her to Leona in this role, she puts so much more emotion into her voice (though both have great voices) She's not Elaine Paige or Betty but she did this amazing role justice
Eleanore Pavelle Nicole puts more emotion in her voice. Leona sings it like a little innocent kitten, her voice sounds way too young and she doesn't have this kind of volume and breath control you need, whereas Nicole has this sobbing in her voice that makes you wanna cry - no matter what the song is about. But it's your opinion anyway😄 I like both. Have a nice day
Wow other than Elaine paige who is the best grizabella ever.. nicole nailed this one for sure. She should have stayed for broadway musical.. shes talented in this
This is so emotional and beautiful. I can feel the pain from this version. Unlike Leona and Jhud, I'm not offended them. Their sound are great. But it didn't make me goosebumps and teary eyed like this version.
There are gonna peeps who lover her portrayal and others that hate. I personally took some time to warm up to her voice, but she's so powerful and her breath control is just unbelievable :) Honestly. To those saying she doesn't look old enough to play Gris, I don't think it's a win situation all of the time with casting. It's not just about the looks, and your voice doesn't necessarily mean your age. Some people have a voice that you think would belong to someone older, yet they're like a mere teenager. To those who don't approve of pop stars taking to musical theatre and beyond, I disapprove with their point of view. I respect stars who are more flexible and versatile who prove they aren't mere symbols of one genre. Sure, they will sound different to most who never sung pop and so on, but the choice is theirs to make and I respect them for it :)
iiSirLeonard RBLX Grizabella isn't a kitten who is so shy and innocent as Leona sings it. Nicole has this sobbing in her voice and you can really FEEL the pain. In Leonas version I personally don't really believe that every word is meant like it is supposed to. That is no hate, I absolutely love both performances💚 They are not comparable...
+Nat's Life This is the only way we'll have record of these performances. Broadway producers are way too short-sighted to actually record and release these performances on video or CD (other than the 'original cast album' which is only recorded once by the first cast). I actually applaud the people recording these as we may never get to see these performances or have a history of them otherwise.
oh, I'm glad somebody recorded it, I mean, I am peruvian and london isn't that close. I was there a month ago but I don't think I'll be going back any soon. I only got to see Les Mis, I'm not complaining (those were the best 3 hours of my life) but it is still not enough :( naughty people recording and youtube are my only conection to musical theatre:(
Memory Elaine Paige Midnight not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory? I am so impressed by this. Nicole Scherzinger is very much underrated as a vocalist.
Skye Roach yes, she is...
She is a trained opera singer ☺️
How can you be an underrated vocalist when the bulk of your work at the peak of your carrier was singing stupid songs like "don't cha"? It's no one's fault but her own that the public had no Idea she could sing like this...
I so agree I’m just now seeing this side of her she’s so good I’m like wow
She Might Be the Only American in That UK Production.
having seen her live doing Memories, in the show, it is the singularly best performance I have heard in a musical. Total silence and huge applause at the end it was just magical and awesome. I will never forget it as long as I live.
It's called Memory
But yes, she is amazing!
GOD her belt in "MEEEEMoryyy" at 3:50 is so insanely resonant it fills the performance hall and distorts the camera mic audio slightly. THAT is how you BELT. If it isn't filling the performance hall, you aint doin it right!
the treble when she sings "touch me..." too
Her tone at 3:50 was amazing! People need to realize she can do more than just "Don't Cha"....
i read that at 5:50 and was gonna say you are very savage lol
Don't cha's bridge is killer tho. Specially when she sang it live.
her belt on "All alone in the memory" is PERFECT
Worked with her in a show years ago- was amazing then- even more amazing now.
Billy Green what show was it?
blackpanther1121 A Chorus Line
@@green_acres_7240 was this when she was in college?
@@benjjjjsin Just before she started.
The climax was just so beautiful it melts you.
I love her so much more in theatre, than I do in the pop world. She should stay an actress for the stage :) so much talent!
her pop era is over. that was just 1st step in climbing the
ladder. She's gone almost at the top.
Am I the only who tears up when they hear this song? Every time? *cuts onions while sobbing like a baby*
I saw this live with Nicole and is single handedly the best performance I've ever seen. Truly spinetingling. What a voice!
Oh my god when she opens up the sound all the way to say "with the MEMORY", singing it forward. Incredible placement.
3:50 is probably the best execution of a sung note I have ever heard
She sung the note so emotional and resonant at the same time it pierces your heart and makes you cry.
Leona sings the lyrics.
Nicole understands the lyrics.
Omg me too :(
Very good outstanding ! Way Nicole wast her talent on sad hip hop degrading music and woman hood !
nicole can hit that high notes. and she gave emotions to the song. i just love her
I've listened to this multiple times and I still get chills, she has such an amazing voice
Same here jem she is just so amazing and talented. I've listened to it a million times and chills every single time
Now...this is a pop singer......singing Memory......from CATS......and it's BEAUTIFUL!!!!
+MieKayla Singleton You know she's a trained musician, right? Majored in musical theatre.
Adrian Mantsch Honestly, I knew she was a singer, but I didn't know she was trained. My bad.
MieKayla Singleton Oh, I only wanted to say that she's more than a pop singer. And while in university she did Chicago and Show Boat.
Adrian Mantsch oh that's cool! Who did she portray in Chicago?
MieKayla Singleton She was Velma Kelly.
I‘ve recently fallen in love with CATS (after having seen it in Vienna 2 weeks ago), and have been binge-watching different versions of Memory since then. This is astonishing.... I can't believe I'm about to type this about a Pussycat Doll but I would put her among the best Broadway musical theater actresses working today. I'd LOVE to see her as Evita.
She did sing "Don't cry for me Argentina" at least. m.th-cam.com/video/ivOrKizry94/w-d-xo.html
This Pussycat Doll was a Musical Theater major in college and was trained in the arts before she switched lanes to pop
Oh my gosh yes
How I wish the alley cats in my neighborhood could sing like her...glorious, phenomenal, tremendous, emotional, spellbindingly beautiful...her rendition shookt me! I am destroyed
Amazing Nicole, this performance is so underrated.
She is such a versatile singer, from Phantom Of The Opera, To Rent, To Cats, she can do it all. She is a powerhouse of a singer for sure.
Jesus. Nicole's version made tears fall that was unbelievable. I'm glad I'm watching this in bed so no one can see me lol. She's so under rated. World class performance that.
One of the best I’ve heard sing this song.
This deserves more recognition
Oh wow! What an amazing and different display of a voice she shows, here! It's beautiful!
JESUS!! She is really good! I hope she wins ! Beutifull touching performance ! Good luck for her!
I absolutely love this much more then Leona's honestly the C#5/Eb5 belts at the climax of the song are much more supported then Leona's honestly.
This is why she was the lead for the Pussycat dolls.
right
Teera Xo she was all of them lololol
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 This is why she elevated them into the public eye tbh, they can be mad all they want! 🤷🏾
Omg I have the chills right now ❤️ I can only how beautiful it would sound to be there in person, such a beautiful voice..
Nicole Scherzinger is amazing, i hope and wish long active life for her
shes classical trained. you can hear it well
amazing voice, just WOW
She grew up as a Hawaiian dancer from her mother and then moved to the states and grew up doing musical theatre. Performance is in her blood. She initially tried making it as a solo artist numerous times before joining the Pussycat Dolls.
She nailed it. Great job.
Her whole performance was purrrrfect! I’m reliving 2014 through this video. 😍😍😍
This gave me goosebumps on my scalp, that's how you know it's good.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs from Cats. I cant stop crying, this is So beautiful, and when she hit that note was incredible
I’m sooo glad she’s been doing musical theater 🎭
This is my favorite version of Memory.
Wow, wow, wow! That one's tough to beat. Amazing!
so beautifull...so powerfull
I love both Leona and Nicole. Both fantastic
Same here. They're both amazing!
cm1727 yeah I came to see who's better honestly but they both sound amazing!
Adam Efimoff But you can't teach someone how to have a beautiful voice and honest passion. theyre different but so good
I hope there's a way to convince Nicole Scherzinger to do the broadway revival. :( This is depressing. That would be her biggest break in US. Who watches X Factor anyways????
it pays the bills and is a way easier job, im guessing
OMG....flawless
she has always been more than just a pop singerphantom of the opera
Wow. No words to describe to this performance, wow.
I almost drown in my own tears. Period.👏👏🙌🙌💗
This is way better then her performance at the Oliver awards in 2015
I'd giver props on Oliver Awards. She has no in-ear monitors when doing it so hearing the band might be a struggle for her
@@cnmrb151 she was also really ill and just flew in from the US to do it
The best memory performance
Beautiful!. Brings me to tears every time. 💜
So proud of her!! ❤
She is a great singer.. well done Nichole.. wish you all the very best 👏👏👏👏
I just don’t know what to say absolutely mind boggling talented
Can't believe she backed out of this and potentially winning a Tony for the fucking X Factor. Is she absolutely nuts??
She can make upwards of $1 million a year on X Factor, so its understandable that she would choose media exposure and her career over /potentially/ winning a Tony.
xtinafan06 I think I've heard that theatre is her passion but she joined PCD for the money when she didn't have much
she actually went to school for music theatre and was pursuing a career in that before she ever did with just music
I read that she wasn't going to have her name above the title like it was in London so she pulled out of the Broadway version
yes she is.
Amazing nicole
Beautiful. I never considered Nicole as a great vocalist. Not until now. Superb!
shivers down my spine...amazing
Best version
Nicole is incredible. What a voice!
How Nicole delivers this gives you goosebumps but Jennifer's version for the movie leaves me cold
goosebumps.....
Wow. Just...wow. She's amazing!
Niclole is a greatest singer on the stage!!! I didn't know before that she is so nice singer!!!!
„Touch me“ really touched me... got goosies all over my body!
AMAZING!!!!! SO BRILLIANT!
I'm not sure if it's the ac or if it is the fact that I have goosebumps! Simply beautiful! ♥
It makes me laugh when people question why she was the lead of the Pussycat Dolls this performance proves why.
Can't wait till Broadway!!!
Oh my she was resonant af on the belts!
this was amazing!
She's too good for the Cats movie. I'm glad she wasn't part of that crappy film.
Personally, I prefer her to Leona in this role, she puts so much more emotion into her voice (though both have great voices) She's not Elaine Paige or Betty but she did this amazing role justice

Have a nice day
I completely agree that Nicole is better suited for this role, that's what i was saying in my original comment lol
Leona? Whaaaaaaat? She was si boring
She’s great !!!
what a freaking amazing voice. Not sure she's perfect for the role but her singing absolutely slays.
Lucie A.T. so true! She's really not a Grizabella, but her voice certainly is. Impressive is an understatement.
She took musical theater in college I see how good she is.
The singer from the Pussycat dolls in the iconic role made famous by Elaine Page in the original UK production.
i get goosebumps from this wow
Nicole made me cry
Wow other than Elaine paige who is the best grizabella ever.. nicole nailed this one for sure. She should have stayed for broadway musical.. shes talented in this
everyone talks about 3:50, but i love what immediately follows just as much holy shit.
3:38 GOOSEBUMPS!!! 😍😍😍
Amazing!
Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow this is so beautiful
This is so emotional and beautiful. I can feel the pain from this version. Unlike Leona and Jhud, I'm not offended them. Their sound are great. But it didn't make me goosebumps and teary eyed like this version.
Agreed!!
❤me emocionei... que interpretação...

i wish i could see it live

so much more energy then Leona .
Grizabella isnt supposed to have energy though.
Leona kills it, her vocals are impeccable. She makes it sound effortless when it's very hard.
iiSirLeonard RBLX Grizabella isn't a kitten who is so shy and innocent as Leona sings it. Nicole has this sobbing in her voice and you can really FEEL the pain. WHEN SHE SHOULDN'T SOUND EFFORTLESS because this cat is supposed to be struggling and agonizing.
Damn!! She is good!
an american for the West End(nicole) and a british for broadway (leona).
Hadn't noticed that, well done.
Max Barr before it was not allowed in the 90's.
Wow! Thank you. 3
Oh my good Lord!!!!! Woww!!!
Queen N ❤👌👑
LOVE IT!! ❤
dang.... awesome
love it
Amazing voice and very nice video but Naughty, Naughty to the person who recorded it in the Theatre!
Nat's Life I approve. lol I'll never see her in the theater but I wanted badly to see her perform this. I'm blown away.
MoMoMyPup10 Amen! Theatre is such an amazing medium but I hate how it's so limited by geography
+Nat's Life This is the only way we'll have record of these performances. Memory
Elaine Paige
Midnight not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Every streetlamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp gutters
And soon
It will be morning
Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn''t give in.
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
A streetlamp dies; another night is over
Another day is dawning
Touch me!
It''s so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you''ll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun.
