Awww gotta love 'Puppy Hour' ... 💖
I love how you keep firing commands at them & they don't listen 🤣 they both have you wrapped around their paws!
Loved the puppy-dog eyes Kara was looking at you with after you made her sit ... And of course you gave in ... Could see your arm moving as you patted her 💖 She knew you would give in 🤣
I wish you'd done this segment yesterday 🤪
I went out after watching this as I had mulched my tomatoes ad we've got high 30s all week (prob get 40 where I am), and pulled some up & it was dry underneath 😩
So I kept pulling back & deep watering the soil then put mulch back & soaked that through ...
You're so right about soaking the mulch BEFORE putting it down!
    Really enjoyed today's segment!

I put a hole in my bagged mulch (sugarcane) and pop the hose in and wet it, then just leave it for a month / sometimes 6 months before I use it: Fantastic!

We use old weed free Lucerne bales and find they rejuvenate and feed the soil and microbes as they break down.

Hey! You have another website? Details ...
Also, I'm sure many years ago when feeding horses... The wedges/slabs of hay, etc that each bale broke up in to was called a 'biscuit' ... Goes well with you breaking it up in the water in your wheelbarrow ... You must have been hungry 🤣

I find that using sugar cane mulch, it gets stuck together and creates a barrier, might try a different mulch

The price of sugar-cane mulch here in South East Qld has gone through the roof. Wish I could find baled, unwrapped bean straw like that here.

Varlessie is OK to wet the rest of the dry hay then put in garden beds

Brilliant segment today ol' mate. What are your opinions on Mother Nature's made beneficial microbes compared to Man Made cultured beneficial microbes?

Did you say Bean Straw? Where do you get that?

The bean straw looks hard to find. The main thing is the word straw as it does not contain seeds or weeds in it. Gumtree you will find pea straw . This is what locals where I reside use as it is cheap but a trailer is needed to pick it up. Unless you find a seller that will deliver it to you.
My neighbour wanted me to reduce the height of my hedges to stop leaves getting into his pool. Well one was a 30 ft high tree and the rest were tree like in height 15 ft. My greenfield piece maker has been mulching the cut branches into mulch took 3 weeks and all my gardens have mulch from the cut down trees ( that are meant to be hedges). I have a bag of pea straw from the hardware store but have not used it yet. I was using sugar cane on veg garden from Hardware store during winter , but now has extra layer of tree mulch for summer. My neighbour is extremely happy with my gardening effort. I have a bag of cow manure from hardware store that I will use next Winter with the pea straw to farrow the veg garden for spring.
