- If you want to train Muay Thai in Thailand but are unsure what to expect, I share exactly what I wish I knew before coming here to train here as a beginner. Overall, Muay Thai training is brutal but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just wanted to add that trainers will more likely invest in you right off the bat during a private session (as opposed to a group class). Hope this video was helpful!
i started training muay thai-ish with a good friend of mine in our dormitory gym, its been 18 days that we do it everyday ( i only boxed once a week for 6 months and some jiu jitsu techniques until now)
really interesting to see how much more you guys are doing, i would be dead within 2 days if not 1 day haha
That’s awesome to hear and that’s great that you’re getting into Muay Thai! Yeah training for four hours is tough. You hear some of the stories of how the Thais used fighting to get out of poverty and then start to understand why they train the way they do.
Awesome video. Always enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you Pa! Let’s go
Very good points! Subscribed!! Thanks for the Video 👍👍👏👏❤❤😊😊
Thank you appreciate that 🙏
thats impressive, keep going
Thank you! Appreciate that 🙏
good s tuff, man thanks
Thank you :)
BEAST!!!!
Thank you bro 🙏
I’m currently 40 days in to training in Phuket. My first gym was a very famous and busy tourist gym with about 500 people going through it each day (I’m guessing). It was a lot of fun but definitely not where I would choose to start off if I did it again. I’m now at a smaller gym quite near to the old one and I’m having a much more authentic fun and informative time
Nice man! Yeah big gyms make it harder for the instructors to give personalised feedback and it becomes more commercialised. Smaller gyms are my preference too!
Hi what small gym are u at ? As I am coming to phuket
@@stocks01stocks4 Sutai Muay Thai. it is only 35 mins away from airport. It is by far in my favourite area of phuket. its super nice around here. quite expensive, but the whole island is. If you are a beginner, i would recommend Sutai. If youre intermediate, Bangtao Muay Thai is a great place but very touristy, its best if you already have basic fundamental skills before going there. if you are used to the slightly aggresive/intimidating environments that can come with fight gyms, i would recommend tiger muay thai or any gyms near it. There is a whole road full of gyms, juice/protein bars, hostels etc. its built for people to train muay thai around there.
@stocks01stocks4 currently at Rattachai!
Hello mate, thanks for the video.
Can you give me an idea of the cost in THB for the places you went? Also how cheap is accom? I've been to Thailand a few times but never for Muay Thai purposes
Cost for
Drop in 1 session
month member
private one on one
Accommodation
thank you!
Hey man! Thank you :)
Here are the prices roughly from what I’ve seen:
Drop in session: 500 baht
Accom (for me): 14,000 baht/month
1 month of training: 12,000-15,000 baht
Private training: 800+ baht
I made a video breaking the costs for different budgets in this video so that should answer your question more in depth :)

@@juniusong appreciate it mate. I really need to get back out there, if I can get 2-3 months my technique will improve so much.
Best of luck with your journey
@AnIdiotOnline Sounds like a good plan! All the best with your journey too!
Hi mate which one would you say was the best technical and serious gym? I heard rattachai was the best
Hey, so I’ve tried out 5 different gyms and I can give you my opinion on each one.
Rattachai - Fun, vibes are great, they take care of everyone, if you’re taking a fight they make sure you’re prepared and you do extra training for that
Singha - Fight gym for sure, more intense then Rattachai but great gym as well
Yak Yai - Also great gym and the owners are American so a slightly different vibe
Tiger - big gym, commercialised, not much feedback for someone like me (who’s quite new to the sport)
Lamai Muay Thai - Fight gym for sure and they spar every day. They don’t correct much technique during the group sessions though and class size to trainer ratio is bigger than Singha and Rattachai.
But I’ve only been to 5 gyms and none in Bangkok so I might not be the best person to ask :)
@@juniusong thanks I’ll do a week or 2 at rattachaia I only have 4 weeks to train in Thailand this time next year, I plan to do 2 weeks in Bangkok at 2 gyms too
Awesome man! Good to hear - sounds like a plan!
has anyone told you you look like panpayak?
No but I’ll take it! A lot of Thais at the touristy areas don’t try to sell me anything because they think I’m Thai though 😅
Thought the same
Looks like a farang gym
Yeah I’d say Rattachai is. Still a few fighters that fight out of there though and the trainers are experienced
@@juniusong I don't mean it in a bad sense, looks like they teach well and pay attention to the technique. And the intensity of training will still be way more than in a typical US gym. However, the level of hardcore is somewhat relaxed comparing to a Thai gym )))
Yeah for sure! I trained at Phuket Singha and Lamai Muay Thai for a week and was definitely more intense and they sparred/clinched almost every session
@@juniusong Wow you survived a week at each of those? )))) I just looked at the way they train at Singha and cried and ran away ))))) Did you make videos from those places? I think Americans should see what Thais go through to become as hard as they become.
I did only one session at Singha and one week at Lamai and lived on site. This was the video where I talked about what it was like living at the gym but I didn’t document the trainings at the more intense fight gyms but they definitely did things like kick you while you did your plank and hit you with pads when you were doing sit ups 😅 th-cam.com/video/djsG4zGQE9M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TOPE__d1gtaDJMdD
