    I'm from Germany and i notice that Certs are quit important in the US. I made a 3 year apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for system Integration at a company and had schooling at the same time. It's facinating how different the needed Qualifications are in some Countries. By the Way: I love your Content, keep it up! :) Greeting from Germany

      As an American that lived in Heidelberg, Germany for 5 years, your education system is better. You guys are able to graduate Gymnasium and Hauptschule with job experience while getting paid. While here in America you need experience to get a job but you need a job to get experience unless you have the financial resources to do an unpaid internship.

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conversely, from the Germans I've spoken with, I've always heard that the degree carries more weight in Germany. So while I might do alright in the US as someone who doesn't have a Bachelor's Degree (and my Associate's in Graphic Design isn't much use either) I could struggle with work in Germany because some places might put more emphasis on my degree.
      Personally, I like the idea of certs, because they can show a more specific focus related to your field. Granted, I may be biased...since I don't have the traditional 4 year degree.

    Great follow-up - I see the pros and cons of both suggestions - again it all comes down to how someone learns, myself personally I'm taking a hybrid approach to both ideologies.
    As far as the challenge - BOTH David and Neal are knowledgeable enough to automate responding to DM's but thats a great challenge :-)
    Thanks again, David and Neal, for the great content!

    The discussion about monetary cost is interesting and helpful. However, I would also like to know about the time cost vs career value. Many people have limited time resources, and it would be useful to know how to avoid wasting valuable time.

    If I can do it all over again, I would do:
    1) TCM ethical hacking (Udemy)
    2) $10 a month for Try Hack Me
    3) INE training
    Then I would look for a job after getting PTP then work towards OSCP

    At 21:22 Neal mentions the value of diversity. With me I've found too much diversity can be a bad thing. I tend to be all over the place. Throughout the years I've stuck to a handful of vendors (ie: INE, David's Udemy courses, which reminds me, I have to complete my Linux for Network Engineers course). Great discussion. Thanks David, & Neal.

    Hey Dave, when it comes to hacking on a macbook pro and running Parrot or Kali Linux, do you recommend running a VM application or running from a thumb drive? Thanks!!

    • @k62627
      @k62627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not Dave, but I'll offer two thoughts.
      If you're looking at doing pentesting proper, and are likely to go out, if you boot usb yes its convenient and can br used across multiple computers, however if its on a laptop, you're losing a usb port that are generally in limited number. Secondly discretion. Say you're sitting in a cafe. If you have a usb hanging out of your laptop, it'smore noticeable than a blank laptop eith the vm on it.
      But the usb gives you the security of a removable device that means you might be able to make back up devices etc.

    Sir, in the AI video you guaranteed my cybersec job won't be taken in the next 5 years. Being a teenager, when I get a job, I have to work for like around 40 years. Can you guarantee that my job won't be taken if I kept evolving?

    • @davidbombal
      @davidbombal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one can absolutely guarantee anything in the future unfortunately. I don't think either Neal or I could predict what would happen in 40 years from now.. Neal said he would eat his shoe if he was wrong and you levelled up. So, you have to put in the work and make the right choices.

      @@davidbombal sir, I'm 18. By the time I graduate, 23. 5 years gone, what would be the scenario now?(this is haunting me. Graduate for something just to get broke) . Sir, as you said no one could ever predict the future. So, we stand right now where there could be infinite possibilities. For ex:- in the prev. 5 years people thought studies can never be online. But scenario now, you can observe. Online education is at boom. So, we can't deny that about AI that there is a possibility.
      Please help me out.

    One thing I noticed using THM is that in some modules you are instructed to download some tool in the VM to complete the exercise. The problem is the tool isn't anywhere to be found and after hours of looking I cannot find it, thus not completing the exercise. It's frustrating. That is my only con about THM
