I had to level an entire mountain and wipe out an entire forest, but this works like a charm! Using Java 1.19.2 and it does work. If all else, it makes a decent XP/Rotten Flesh/Copper farm if you don't get a trident or have a bunch of them already.
Hey, can you please share your world with trident farm in it? (if possible) I want to test it in bedrock 1.19.6. It would be a huge help for bedrock players
You can simply make a cobble ring on top, put lava in there, wait until it goes down and put water, all the lava will turn into cobblestone saving you few hours of building
@@jaydenbueno1119 So what I'm theorizing is: build two rings of blocks around where the base should be, 18 and 22 blocks across each, to catch the lava flow at the bottom. Then, build matching rings at the top of the wall, a block under the layer where you add the water, and put a layer of blocks under the hollow. Add the lava, letting it flow out across the channel you've created so you don't have to use as many sources, then cover it with a layer of blocks and remove the layer underneath it. Start adding your water; the lava should reach the bottom before you've finished filling the pool. Then remove the temporary blocks, and the water should flow down the inside, filling the spawn area and hardening the lava at the same time. Do a once over with a stack or two of cobble to fill any holes that remain, and you should be done!
Text Form - Material List : 5910 Building Blocks (93 stacks) 406 Slabs (6 Stack + 22) 324 Signs (20 stack + 4) 136 Scaffolding (2 stack + 8) - Stacks of 16 and not 64 4 Chests 4 Hoppers 2 Water Buckets
You can use two buckets. When going along the walls, place water sources on every odd numbered block, 1, 3, 5, 7, etc, then refill on every even numbered block, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. by placing the water sources on every odd numbered block, it should fill in the even numbered blocks.
Well for those who are wondering why some drowned fall to their death, its because they fall right from the upper area on the side into the hole without enter the lane, which is exactly 1 block higher than the intended fall distance, comepletely normal, no need to worry about it, also its just funny to see random drowned falling to death every now and then.
so the tradeoff would be that you could place it all 1 block lower, for no deaths, but having to deal more damage to everyone instead? would that just be strictly better?
I'm kinda confused having not played Minecraft for the past 4 years. Do these spawn zombies and proceed to drown them? Or do they spawn drowned directly? I've always thought mobs don't spawn on flowing water.
@@ArachisageSince it's in a river biome it spawns drowned directly, and luckily it doesn't check for source blocks or not, just water. Fun fact as well, river biomes have much higher drowned spawn rates
I am relatively new to Minecraft, so I always pushed myself away from really complicated builds. Until eventually I got a trident but did not want to find a mending book. Eventually, I had no other choice, but to build this even though I knew I had to destroy a whole forest and delete a chunk of the world to make it. I am in the sign/ deforestation part of the build, so wish me luck. (Thanks for the awesome guide btw!)
You can get a mending book within 5-10 minutes of resetting trades. Get a fresh (untraded) villager isolated (I used a minecart and rail to get one 100+ blocks from the nearest village) and set up a lectern with a sticky piston or between 2 pistons. If you go with a sticky piston, put a lever on it, a bitton on each normal piston. Set up the lectern, the villager should bind to it. If it doesn't have the book you want, use the piston(s) to move the lectern. This will re-bind the villager and reset the trades available. Rinse and repeat until you have your mending book, then make at least one trade with the villager to lock in the mending trade. Repeat this process for every enchanting book if you want to, took me about 2 hours to get every book available in bedrock.
This took me so long to do on survival (and I died 3 times from falling lol), but this farm works amazing! Thanks for the tutorial. Tips in the comments really helped me since the video was done in creative mode. I suggest reading through them if you're building this on survival. :)
I think it’s one of the easiest farms I made quick too and I’m on hardcore. Quality worlds are shown when farms this easy to build are considered easier. This only took 3 in game Minecraft days not bad at all very simple too
@potatorex6545 set your sneak to toggle and use ESC (on PC) after placing each sign. this should help speed up placement. i typically place 4-5 before i have to move and place the next set in a line.
Just a tip for anyone struggling with the amount of blocks needed: use spruce planks!! One big spruce tree will get you around a stack of logs, which is four stacks of planks. Saved me a lot of time getting the materials.
Just some tips if you gonna build this. 1 - I saw lot of people saying that made this farm in the ocean and it's not working. It's because this farm NEED to be make in river biome, because drowned don't spawn on high atitudes in oceans. 2 - I made the entire farm and drowned still survive with a lot of heath, I recommend you add 10 extra blocks of high on the falling tube. If you do that, they are gonna survive with 3 health (for some reason, if I add a single extra block beyond that, they all just die). Building techniques that I found: 1 - You can change the shift bottom to be alternate, instead of holding. It makes the sign placing a lot more easy. 2 - That one is a little bit weird, but if you change the placement key to any keyboard one (I recommend R), you put blocks insanely fast. This trick with swift sneak enchantment helped me a lot to make the giant 20x20 tube. Just adding one more thing: I don't know if this entire farm works on bedrock edition, so it's better to search and test on creative worlds before try.
It works in 1.20.2! Also: Don't get mad getting so much cobblestone to build it: make it of snow blocks. just built this in my current world (java 1.19.3), and it works like a charm! before i built it, i had gone over 850 days in my survival world living on a tiny island in the middle of a huge ocean basically the entire time. i had killed over 600 drowned without getting a trident to drop. i broke down and build this farm, and i finally got my first trident in under 20 minutes. total drowned kills is at 625, so only approximately 20 more drowned kills after building the farm to get a drop...now to see how long it'll take me to get a second one! EDIT: got my second trident drop after afk'ing at the farm just long enough for me to type the above comment. total drowned kills is about 70-80 more than when i started afk'ing. i guess the luck finally came around.
Great video just a tip to those who want to build it though. Make sure its NOT in PLAINS BIOME that for some reason OVER THE MIDDLE OF A RIVER and DOESNT SPAWN DROWNED
Nice farm! My mob output wasn't very high so I expanded fam on the sides by adding drowned chambers just like main one, just one block higher so watter at bottom directed drowned to main chamber. After that rates went up so it's working pretty well for me. I used lava casting for expanding, just don't be dumb like me and mess up blocking lava at bottom, a lot of cobblestone cleanup. Also trident
I applaud your efforts Voltrox on making a good working farm that's easy to build for the general Minecraft community, made it myself in my world and it works like a charm. Thank you.
It works, uses a lot of building blocks, but it is really really slow, not sure if that is due to being on a Java server or not, but I've been here for an hour an no trident, only 15 copper ignots, 3 shells an a few stacks of useless flesh. Feel like for copper it be better mining, for tridents I'd take my chances manually fighting them, but ty for the effort you put into making this video
I found a comment asking if you can use planks instead and I did! It took a lot less time since wood can practically quadruple when you turn it into planks. It worked fine and with a looting 3 I got two tridents in 20 minutes. 🙌
Trident! Took about 15 minutes to get. I think I’m going to take another commenter’s advice and add water chambers on the side to increase output, since copper is what I’m mainly after. Thanks for such a clear tutorial!
Check out @ianxofour and his copper farm! It is insane! Based on gnembons zombie spawn trick! Takes a while to fill it up, but when you are done, copper rains! And XP too. U will not be disappointed!
@@MemeKing44 Blocks for straight vanilla, then there are some mods that use copper. I usually only have them collecting dust too but rn I use copper hopper for sorting (bad planning forced me to use them, and it's great!)
This farm is ridiculous and insanely good. I have no clue how it works and why all those measurements(like why it needs to be 71 tall etc.). Make sure the whole surface area you build it on belongs to the right biome, don't have stuff like forest biome mixed in the chunks.
It works (including java 1.20). I made it to gather nautilus shells for an advancement, and I automated the killing with bonfires (I don't need the tridents), however the output of the farm is painfully slow. At least it's easy to build, but it's far from efficient.
Thank you for not making a redstone monstrosity. And extra thank you for displaying numbers on screen instead of warbling "place the blocks down like I am doing" over and over again like in other tutorials.
After getting 1 Trident you also can add automatic Trident killer with this farm so you can get xp + items without killing by your hand you just need sword in your hand. Easy to build ❤🙌 Edit:- for bedrock not java(pc)......
Thanks for the guide. I have a question: there's a small Ocean Ruin not far from my base, and it is completely in a River biome. If I'll build the farm in the chunk of the Ruin/in the adjacent chunk(s), will it affect the spawn rate at the farm? If I'll drain the waters in the area, will it improve the spawn rate at the farm? I've tried tackling the Drowned (built some small pathways for them to funnel into) but was quickly overwhelmed. Have a good day.
On Bedrock edition, you should NOT use slabs for the roof. Slabs do not stop light from traveling into the top portion of the farm which stops drowned from spawning. So if you want to further optimize the farm's output the roof needs to be solid blocks. This issue might be on Java too but I don't know for sure.
Tip : you can just go to nether and then go to your netherite mining area and pop at least a stack of tnt and then take all the netherrack from mining and blasting for building blocks. Was super fast and easy to grind for. I even got some ancient debris along the way
@supaunicat1382 same here bro and by mining netherrack with efficiency 5 picasxe of netherite I found 16 ancient debris for my full suit on netherite Armor . And I can understand that netherrack is good for building large farms as it is easily broken... I used netherrack in creeper farm that has been published by voltrox....it used 3 full of shulker box .. Broo it's relatable...
Works great on 1.20.4,. Fist trident took 30 minutes and obtained a few more by afking over night. I would highly recommend a cobble farm or gravity duper (I used concrete powder) to ease the acquisition of building blocks.
I built this farm using tinted glass instead of smooth stone. It kiled my amethyst shard stock. I afked for 15 mn and there were no mobs spawning. I rechecked the light level, the fact that I'm in a river biome. Nothing. Then, I realised that my mob switch was on ... I got my first tridant in 15 mn. It's an easy farm to build (as long as you don't use tinted glass) and it gets the job done.
the drowneds die when they fall to the killing chamber, and using water buckets makes it spill everywhere edit: i used trapdoors at the killing chamber, now it works like a charm
This farm is stupid efficient. You get between 3-4 tridents an hour plus a ton of copper and nautilus shells on the side. And the xp is even enough to repair armour and tools. 10/10
Anyone have any ideas why the drowned just swim around? I can't get them to fall down through the signs. I checked in creative and only the top layer of water is source blocks, the rest are falling water. I checked in creative and they all immediately will pathfind to a turtle egg if I put one down. But if I stand at the bottom near the kill area then the spawning area just fills up with drowned swimming around. Thanks! I also built a guardian farm using a nearly identical design (on skyblock) and it worked perfectly so I'm extra confused because its basically the same design so I really don't know why the drowned aren't pushed down.
thanks! i made this in survival, it was pretty fun. lucky for me i had demolished an entire mountain so i had cobblestone to spare. the only bummer is falling.... or getting knocked off by a phantom after i lost track of how many days straight i was building for lol. but also thats pretty funny. falling down like 300 blocks into water is wild

Just spend like 4 hours and 2 hours of AFK time at my stone generator to make this bc last world it took me like 6 hours to even get 1 trident, and on my second group of them I got a almost full, enchanted trident.. first guy that had one… THEN when I went down to collect my scaffolding, I decided to kill a couple fish for cats while I was down there… 1 drowned spawned, he had a trident… he dropped it… I was debated lmao… anyway, for farms like this a little detail I recommend it’s changed the slabs on the happier out for soul sand/regular camp fires so you can afk at it if wanted, just put the fire out with a shovel for regular use. Best drowned farm I have ever made by far though!
built this in my server but its running really slowly. is it the server or did i do something wrong? everything works fine besides speed. over 20 minutes I've only gotten a few drowneds
Thank you, I built it a few blocks shorter to save on resources but it still only took me around 25 mins to get a trident! First time I've ever gotten one in survival, you are a real one, esp for not making a dogshit 15 min video that could be done in 4, thank you!

before i built it, i had gone over 850 days in my survival world living on a tiny island in the middle of a huge ocean basically the entire time. i had killed over 600 drowned without getting a trident to drop. i broke down and build this farm, and i finally got my first trident in under 20 minutes. total drowned kills is at 625, so only approximately 20 more drowned kills after building the farm to get a drop...now to see how long it'll take me to get a second one!
EDIT: got my second trident drop after afk'ing at the farm just long enough for me to type the above comment. total drowned kills is about 70-80 more than when i started afk'ing. i guess the luck finally came around.
It doesn’t work for me I’ve built two :(
@@MBuckshot4511 Are you on bedrock?
Hey can you please share the world with trident farm in it? I want to test it for bedrock 1.19.6. It would help a lot of bedrock players here, Thanks!
Great video just a tip to those who want to build it though. Make sure its NOT in PLAINS BIOME that for some reason OVER THE MIDDLE OF A RIVER and DOESNT SPAWN DROWNED
does it work in a ocean?
@@lancesmith8342 No. Drowned zombies only spawn above sea level if the biome is River. In the ocean they spawn less and only below sea level.
Trident!
Just finished building this farm in Java 1.19.2, got a trident with the first batch of drowned!
That's extremely lucky! Haha
me toooooo
Hi @voltrox, does it work for bedrock 1.19.6 players?
Also trident
can you show me how did u do that with pictures?
I applaud your efforts Voltrox on making a good working farm that's easy to build for the general Minecraft community, made it myself in my world and it works like a charm. Thank you.
tip: when placing signs, put them in your offhand, it places and cancels the sign typing thing much faster
also having nothing in your main hand
Trident
Your design is insane! Keep going
trident indeed
damn you didn't get a heart, HE LIED!
Either it's your bad luck, you're not using looting 3, or the farm is not fully in a river biome, because I got 4 tridents in 20 minutes
I found a comment asking if you can use planks instead and I did! It took a lot less time since wood can practically quadruple when you turn it into planks. It worked fine and with a looting 3 I got two tridents in 20 minutes. 🙌
What if a thunder hit on it?
@@skicat6959 Just use stone slabs for the top and wood for the walls, should be fine.
Tip:You can remove side-wall of the water,or use lava and water,if you dont have a roof the drowned will only spawn during night time
It was so fun to build! Worked perfectly on my Java world 10/10!!
And XP too.
U will not be disappointed!
yo what do you do with all the copper?? i have sooo much and i never use it!!
I did it same but it's not working
Me2😢
Me 3😢😢😢
it seems to not be working for a lot of people. I hope to works for me because I killed my pickaxe mining stone
@@omgvindacator999 you should have had mending on it
It works (including java 1.20).
Easy to build ❤🙌
Edit:- for bedrock not java(pc)......
still works 1.20.1 if anyone is wondering. got a trident like immediately when I finished. Not bad for xp either
Was looking for a comment Like this! Thanks bro
Nah it will not affect
On Bedrock edition, you should NOT use slabs for the roof. Slabs do not stop light from traveling into the top portion of the farm which stops drowned from spawning. So if you want to further optimize the farm's output the roof needs to be solid blocks. This issue might be on Java too but I don't know for sure.
Depends on what part of the ground u place it on
Would have been very helpful if I was told beforehand that I needed temporary blocks. Absolutely everything needs to be included in resources.
true
Tip : you can just go to nether and then go to your netherite mining area and pop at least a stack of tnt and then take all the netherrack from mining and blasting for building blocks. Was super fast and easy to grind for. I even got some ancient debris along the way
Relatable bro
@supaunicat1382 same here bro and by mining netherrack with efficiency 5 picasxe of netherite I found 16 ancient debris for my full suit on netherite Armor . And I can understand that netherrack is good for building large farms as it is easily broken... I used netherrack in creeper farm that has been published by voltrox....it used 3 full of shulker box .. Broo it's relatable...
Easiest farm - needs 7000 pieces of blocks... wtf
it can be easily made by using 1 bucket of lava and water
@@user-ty7bz2kh9jhow to do that mate? Pls I'm building it right now, any guide is very needed
Works great on 1.20.4,. Fist trident took 30 minutes and obtained a few more by afking over night. I would highly recommend a cobble farm or gravity duper (I used concrete powder) to ease the acquisition of building blocks.
I won't ever forgive for this signs
BRO THANK YOU,
took me and entire chunk to mine but overall effective and got a trident in 10 min 1.19.3
Tip: don’t use sweeping edge and hit the drowned as they drop. If you kill a trident drowned with a sweep attack you won’t get the looting bonus.
i have sweeping edge and i get looting bonus
@@sidious69 Only on the mob you target. Cleave kills don't get looting bonus.
@Doncergio idk why but I see them dropping multiple items every time
@@sidious69 My bad, it's only bedrock where the looting only applies to main target.

@@falling2874 I know right😭
@@Ohhfrostyyy I’m gonna build this farm today :)
@@falling2874 ayyee good luck with it !!
It's an easy farm to build (as long as you don't use tinted glass) and it gets the job done.
my farm worked well for two sessions and the drowned stopped coming now what might be the issue?
the drowneds die when they fall to the killing chamber, and using water buckets makes it spill everywhere
edit: i used trapdoors at the killing chamber, now it works like a charm
Rip to those who did all this in survival 💀🗿🍷
Don’t water log every block, just the ones at the top so that they fall through the water rather than just floating around
Clear, simple and still working, thats what i like
Perfect! A tridentfarm and a copperfarm
also exp
thanks! i made this in survival, it was pretty fun. lucky for me i had demolished an entire mountain so i had cobblestone to spare. the only bummer is falling.... or getting knocked off by a phantom after i lost track of how many days straight i was building for lol. but also thats pretty funny. falling down like 300 blocks into water is wild
this is why i bring a bed to all my construction sites ;)
Will it work in a ocea instead of a river?
Does it works?
No, only river biomes can spawn drowned above sea level, technically you could build this under the sea but it'll be much more work
thx
i test it on 1.20.4 and works
good job
Hey Voltrox, great vid! So 2 questions. 1, after building it I realized I was above a Cold Ocean attached to a river, will it still work? Also is it OK to destroy the scaffolding or is that needed? thanks in advance!
destroying the scaffolding wont change productivity and as long as it was built in a river biome it should be fine
@rezurrection8853 oh nooo I built it in the ocean
such a good farm!! love your work, keep it going
sale chup
will it still work if i make this in a cold ocean biome?
this literaly took forever to build but it was totally worth it!!! thanks so much for this farm
0:52 how tf did u place ur double chests like that without them separating into separate single chests together ?
EDIT HOW AM I JUST LEARNING YOU CAN SHIFT CLICK THE SIDE OF A CHEST TO MAKE IT DOUBLE I HAVE BEEN PLACING BLOCKS TO MAKE DOUBLE CHESTS FOR LIKE 2 YEARS NOW
Edit 2, signs stack up to 16, not 64, so its a lot more than just 5 stacks and 4 extra signs lol...
Best drowned farm I have ever made by far though!
built this in my server but its running really slowly. is it the server or did i do something wrong? everything works fine besides speed. over 20 minutes I've only gotten a few drowneds
probably cuz its multiplayer
Thank you, I built it a few blocks shorter to save on resources but it still only took me around 25 mins to get a trident! First time I've ever gotten one in survival, you are a real one, esp for not making a dogshit 15 min video that could be done in 4, thank you!
Brother , My Farm is not Working 😢 ..... Drowned are not spawning even.
Awesome stuff dude. I AFK'ed for about 5m intues came back, killed the mobs and got 2 tridents.
Bro the spawn rate is very low
Tipp for Sign-Placing: In Settings, put Sneak-Mode on "Toggle" and Press Right-Click and ESC fast, stand so you can do 6 or so in a row and always go back. super fast method!
does this also work on 1.20
Yes, works on 1.21.1 too!
Thank you! This was very helpful!
"Easiest farm... you only need 6000 blocks and 2 days worth of free time"
BROOOOO TYSM I JUST AFKED FOR 1 MIN AND GOT A TRIDENT
0:40 trident
They didn't have enough love left for you, it seems
For the hopper part, I recommend doing the trident killer thing with a minecart hopper
DOES IT WORK IN 1.20.1?
Idk I build 1 todays, and seems it’s not working, Java 1.20.5 version
NOT WORKING
Imagine building with nearly 6000 blocks which would take nearly 4 hour to collect and it fails 💀 that's why I never build these big things just to waste half my life
This is definitely a case where lava-casting to make the exterior out of limestone is the right call. I’m not hauling around, and placing 93 stacks.
the easiest farm: 93 stacks😃
just build a cobblestone farm(its very easy search up "cobblestone farm shulkercraft").This farm also has like a very high rate of production of cobblestone
