    Nice they reinforced the centre of the bench. I had a large Aluminum boat and I had to reinforce the Gunnell with a 1/2" piece of Teflon cutting board when I put my downriggers on.
    Once you get rolling you get things done! I think you have my pen! Only works sporadically? Yep! My pen! 🤣😂🤣😂 I can't wait to see the performance of the good ship. Everyone should have a hauling Wench.......Winch!! 😁

    I would definitely put a brace down to the floor I had a Spencer Carter hydraulic pot net hauler on my 38 ft Aqua star I know it a different beast but if you are tight in a swell it's a hell of a load best wishes

    Hey Troy - ditch the battery isolator if it has a key. Doesn’t matter where you put it, something wili snag on it and pull the key out. I swapped mine out for a flush fit switch with a knob rather than a key.

    Does the winch come with an emergency stop button and a rewind button that can be located near the pinch point for "hands or clothing" that might get caught ?? Your on your own out there.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has a forward, reverse and stop directly in front of where you stand and feed the rope. I will check it all when its wired up,

    Good update Troy - I think lots of us have been looking forward to this one! I like the idea with the plank of Hardwood - that should help with any flex when the winch is hauling. Are you going to fix the plank to the other strengtheners? Pipe along the gunwhales similar to Tours Jolie is a good idea too. Hoping you have some good weather for working today - we didn't see any rain yesterday, and it's glorious here today. Stay safe & well - thanks mate! 👍👍

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hardwood will probably be braced to the floor as well

  • @mattlepageGU117
    @mattlepageGU117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Troy, prob too late now but had you thought about forgetting davit arm and using a gunwale roller instead ? That’s what I did with mine, that way winch head is more central & mounted to deck and with using gunwale roller if you get a hookie your only pulling on the gunwale rather than higher up with davit arm.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has crossed my mind using a roller. I will try with the davit and see how it goes but may change it in the future. Just trying to keep everything strong but non permanent at the moment till its all had sea trials

    Hey Troy.
    I remembered you increase the hook size on your lures.
    What size treble hooks do you use?
    Im not too familiar with the sizes.
    Cheers👍

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly 1 & 1/0 and sometimes 2/0 on the big lures

    Starting to take shapeTroj,cant help feeling though if a crab pot got caught on the bottom would the winch base be really strong enough?
    Really hope Im wrong, but I think it still needs more strengh than a piece of hardwood...trial and error I suppose.
    Stay safe.

    • @Trojwaterman

  • @VernsSeaFishing

    I think with all your "belt and braces" You could raise the Titanic!

  • @solarfunction1847
    @solarfunction1847 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do what I'm doing to my boat & make a smoked polycarbonate window that is across the top & sides where you can put a soft roof or fibreglass roof making sure that the center of the windscreen & roof is also a door to the front of the boat to access ropes for anchors, cameras etc. You could easily use 3mm plywood framing for the window, door & roof followed up by several layers of fibreglass. Make it either a permanent fixture to the boat or a latch down quick release item with thick rubber between framework of the boat & window frame, door/roof. Idears & solutions just pop into my head on the fly, hate it.

  • @froggleggers1805

    I'd use metal for your plate, something that will hold up and wont rot like wood. A plate on top and a plate on the bottom, then bolt them together

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could but that hardwood will outlive the life of the winch, The key is bracing the winch to reduce or remove the full strain at the base.
