Suggestion for a pump and timer set-up please?

I would suggest a small sump pump and schedule the pump on a cheap wall timer - if you are using drip you don't a lot of pressure and may need a reducer (15 PSI) to attach to the pump. There are also some pretty cool pump products like this (amzn.to/3LiZJTq - affiliate link) however I have not tested them out.

Hello!
I have 4 rain barrels and yes I can attach a hose to them but choose not to. The tops are wide open and I use watering cans with wide openings on top so I can quickly fill them. Much much faster. With a hose I’d be watering all darn day.

That’s a great tip! Dunking the watering cans is much faster! When I attach another barrel I’m going make sure it has a wide top for the cans too. Thanks for sharing! Tim

Insects and larvae aren’t an issue if you use up your rain barrel water before you use the hose.

There won’t be enough pressure from a rain barrel to make a yard sprinkler work.
