The Hs-129 is the Daddy of the A-10 Warthog. The resemblence is no accident.
In addition during the development of the A-10 they consulted Hans-Ulrich Rudel.

@@jimmylight4866He’s making a great point though. Military History Visualized made a great video about the ineffiecency of aircraft on tank fire in ww2. The allied jabos stopped the German tanks because they knocked out the fuel trucks. Also, tanks need infantry to support them and if the infantry is pinned down by Mustangs or Sturmoviks they become more vulnerable and easier to knock out. Recent research shows very few tanks were knocked out by aircraft during ww2.

its right, but the old eins zwei drei was a biplane that reached only 350 km/h, its production ended in 1937 and only 265 were manufactured. The load capacity was 4 50 kg bombs and in maximum configuration, a 250 kg central bomb. It was armed with two 7.92mm machine guns located in the nose. Although highly required to attack infantry and supply columns, its capacity against armor was minimal, unless it hit the roof of a T34, something very unlikely. several high rank commander ask the return to the manufacture of those useful airplanes, something that did not happen

So many rules were set in place when the "Waffenstillstand" cease-fire was signed (yes, there was no PEACE or end of war signing... it was a Ceasefire until much later.

When you want to defend an upcoming invasion, you need something that can drop bombs. You imagine the chances of survival for He-111 or Ju-88 at daylight. He ordered that most 262s (not all !) were to be built as bombers.

Yes, Otto Carius' gunner Kramer successfully shot down at least 1 Soviet aircraft with his Tiger tank's 88mm gun.

It seems to me, that the Luftwaffe did not have a good, coordinated plan to protect Stukas or Hs 129s, as they attacked tanks and other ground targets. As a result, these valuable aircraft were easy targets for enemy fighters and AA units. I think German fighters should have accompanied all ground attack missions, for 2 reasons: to strafe AA units at ground level, and to have a second group of fighters to cover against enemy fighter attacks from above. These special and important aircraft, as well as these highly skilled pilots, were too easily and quickly lost due to this lack of support and poor insight.

It foreshadowed the Russian-Ukraine conflict ongoing as I make this comment. Ukraine's drones and ATMs have taken a very heavy toll on Russian armored units, but they just send more into combat. Eventually the Russians just wore the Germans out as Germany couldn't make up the losses given; they were fighting the Americans & British militaries as well holding conquered countries and land at the same time. Now in 2024 Russian tactics are little changed since WWII will it work again and at what cost?

Well, the Hs 129 was in no way a war winning machine. It was quite ineffective for its intended role. It wouldn’t even be able to beat an IL-2 and that’s not even a fighter plane.
