@YANCEYLIFTS , I hear you: I live in Soulard. With massive population flight over the last 30-40yrs., The city's broke & only plows main thoroughfares😪. "Ho-Ho-Ho (NOT)" & kind regards!
So it’s the strongest winter storm in years yet they’re expecting a wintery mix? I live in Saint Louis, and of course I’m stocked up but seriously these warnings are marketing for Schnucks and Dierbergs and Mobil/QT to sell out…
Any winter storm in St. Louis is snowmagedon. The interstates will be snow packed, MoDOT trucks will be at every gas station, and wrecks will be everywhere. MoDOT will have some lame excuse that it was cold that’s why they couldn’t make the roadways safe. It’s the same with any winter weather St. Louis has. Every news channel will have reporters driving on the roadways telling people not to drive on them because they are dangerous. It could be a trace of snow or a foot of snow it’s the same story.
They can’t make the roadways safe because they don’t have enough staff to treat/plow the whole area when the storm hits .so them telling you “do not drive “ for that period is them making the roadways safe .
As with most occupations with “staff shortages” MDOT doesnt pay their workers so they cant retain anyone or attract new hires. Who would want to work an emergency event like this, be away from their family, and still barrly be able to pay bills?
@@kwilliams3161 Then they need to privatize snow removal. They wouldn’t have to pay benefits or overtime and a lot of these private companies would work hard for these bids. If so many crashes happen on a certain companies route they are fired and they use the next company. Bet the roadways would be safe then. And states up north have no issues keeping roadways safe because their directors know what they are doing. MoDOT not so much.
@@Barmelo-Xanthony973 police officers and firefighters do it all the time. They can’t use the excuse “we are short handed or we don’t get paid enough.” People still expect them to be there doing their jobs. By MoDOT not doing their jobs they are risking the lives of those who have to because they have no choice. MoDOT workers have no problem using 6 trucks to clean up trash and they can hang out at gas stations in groups during snowstorms so they aren’t that poor and short handed.
I LIVE IN THE AREA PLS BE SAFE I'M GETTING THE STORM WE ARE ABOUT TO BE ABOUT OF 11 TO 12 INCHES OF SBOW PLS GET FOOD AND STAY SAFE IM GETTING THE STORM ALSO IM SCARED
Last time we had this same system i was 13 just north of st louis. Im now 24 11 years later still just due north of st louis. Im so happy for this storm we dont get these often
Good! maybe some of the traffic congestion will be relieved for about 12 hours or so since nothing, not even ridiculous gas prices and ridiculous drive times, will keep an American off the roads for even a day.
Wow top notch meteorology. Maybe between 3-9. But to be on the safe side tells us we're fxxked because something is going to happen. 5 star reporting there.
They should use the millions they pay each other as government officials and actually use our tax money and keep us safe and keep infrastructure going. Government work is a public servant job. It's not meant to make millions/billions while the people paying you suffers.
KC had a much better report at "abc / KMBC 9 - Winter storm arrives today - Here's the timeline, and new possible ice and snow totals" posted around 9:30am CST St 1 / 4 / '24. Another EXTENDED St. Louis nothingburger😪.
said the same stuff last year around this time we got 3 inches of snow , i stay right downtown it was crazy little to no prep was done
That was funny af ngl

@Barmelo-Xanthony973 I know a guy who worked for MODOT. He was making state minimum wage and also always laid off because of "no work".
Got a brand new Toyota 4 Runner TRD Pro with a lift and grapplers ...
It'll be chillin' in the garage. 😅
Just stay home, if you go out , give plows space.

I vowed to never, ever, under any circumstances, travel through Chicago during Dec-Feb 😮
Lesson learned!
The news makes it sound like the end of the world is coming. ITS NOT.
If we get 12 inches and some ice, it can get pretty dangerous.
@ 12 inches of snow is nothing and ice storms can be fun. Just be ready. Remember who we were young
Glad I'm in OKC now!!!!
Way to make every damn billy bob panic in the metro east these mfs will have a melt down. If they can't get bread and mountain dew 😂

they hyped this up to be worse than expected.
we are gonna get like 2 to 4 inches of snow max in the STL metro. its gonna fizzle out

I told my wife to expect 3-9" tonight...
We'll see what happens, but I'm betting it'll be around 7". 😉
Apply . Then apply again. Quit being cheap . Might be the only storm
