@@DabDabGoose Rugby Union - the amateur game was played in Egypt before the Dardanelles Campaign and on Mudros Island during the Dardanelles Campaign. Never any league, especially up until a few decades ago, league was never allowed to be played in the services. Probably goes back to the fact that while other sporting bodies stopped competitions, the league continued. Have a look at how many able-bodied former Kangaroo players were still playing league while the War was on. And never enlisted.
Disgusting that the NZ national anthem was sung before the australian anthem, when NZ selfishly sings their national anthem before ours our national anthem should always come first!

you sure, the game was here in 1908, all able bodied young men were drafted it would have been quite a few tbh.
