Awesome sounds music to my ears. The 8v92 Detroit engines one of the best ever made and would often clock up over a millions kilometers before even needing a rebuild. Looking forward to seeing part 2 of this clip. Thanks for sharing this great video of an old timer in action. Any chance of seeing images of outside of the truck in the next video?

of all the gm configurations, the 8V92 has the best harmonic acoustics. 2 stroke diesels and petrols are about to make a big comeback with the Achates 2 stroke OP engine. Its hitting trials now in California for CARB approval. The trial should confirm, almost 80% reduction in NOx over the best 4 stroke engines today, 20 to 30% lower diesel consumption in a smaller, lighter package which needs less cooling. The Petrol version of the engine for light vehicles is 60% less consumption than the best 4 stroke engines of today.

G'Day truck sounds good. Just curious with the RPM and gear change with these old girls.
Do you double clutch much or find that you just slip them into gear easily at the right revs?
The reason why I'm asking is that I own one. Bought it two years ago and finally restored it and I'm trying to work out the gearbox.

Robert Kaplan everyone drives different, i personally don't use the clutch at all once it's moving. Just rev match the gears, one thing to remember, you shift gears a bit quicker in the ol 2 strokes than in 4 strokes as the drop revs quicker. But you can goven this by keeping your foot slightly on the pedal to stop it dropping so quickly,
The revs are changed at about 2,000-2,100rpm, this gearbox is just a straight 9 speed.

Thanks for the tip CutCat55. I just discovered that my air splitter was connected the wrong way so that should get rid of some problems.as well.
My truck has a bit of history to it. It was purchased under finance but only had one payment done. So for the next twenty years it was evading the police the finance companies and dealership. Once it was found it was then auctioned off. Total rating is 92 tonnes, but now it is just a tipper. I am the third tipper owner now.
It has a 400 Cummins and I believe a 13 speed box. I found a really good aluminium bulbar at the truck wreckers and fixed that to my truck. I do building work so I purchased it for my excavator and down the track will tow my Classic Caterpillar bulldozer as well. It looks tuff LOL and is starting to look like a tidy truck again. They are a classic truck and will only go up in price. My regular work truck is just a D series Ford slant six diesel an ex Australian army ammunitions truck. I restored it to the original colours and it gets a lot of looks and comments. Believe it or not but it is more economical to run then my Landcruiser, LOL I wish you happy and safe trucking. And make some more videos.
I might make some myself. Cheers
