This F31 BMW 330d Touring combines both of those in one!

Watched this before I bought my 330d touring shadow edition four months ago,Love it! Had to sell my 3dr 130i after 10 years when my boy arrived and definitely the right upgrade. Shocked at the power, overtaking in it at any speed is literally a joke.

Out of the box they have silly pulling speed in real word driving. I can only imagine how great it must feel gapping those racer boys, with your son giggling in the back seat 😆
Ok, you've made my mind up, I'm a Dad and want a new car later this year, I need one of these! I had a 2006 320d touring M sport and loved it, so I know I will love the 330d even more! Great video mate.

Honestly there’s not much out there in terms of all round ability than a 330d Touring. With the extra weight of family and consumables in the car, I bet the fuel economy will be near enough the same as the 320d as that will have to work harder to lug the mass.

Nice layman review - love your enthusiasm! I've have one of the first F31 BMW 330d M Sport Tourings produced (it replaced my E91 330d SE touring). I'd agree with you except for the mpg - I've always averaged 40-42mpg with a mix of longer distance and town/city driving. I think 40mpg is amazing for a remapped (first stage 320bhp/480lbft torque).
Anyway, sorry you didn't give us the actual 'From start' mpg figure which is easily found through the i-drive - I'd guess it's low 40s. Thanks for a really feel good video. PS. I test drove a C63 saloon at the weekend (though looking for an estate). It has a lot more power (and weight) but only has similar torque; the problem is it seems to return around 22mpg with my driving style!
I love fast diesel tourings just due to their can do anything attitude 😁 Thank you so much for watching. The C63 is a mixed bag in terms of fuel economy depending how you drive it, high 20’s low 30’s are possible if driving consistent on long runs. But that can easily be halved when you’re properly on it. Only thing I would advise being a C63 W204 owner myself, is it to do a simple map to get it’s proper power output. Because out of the box, they are quite restricted due to the same engine being put in their bigger cars such as the E, S, SL, CL class. Once you get the full potential of the M156’s power, it’s very noticeable in the C class platform! Having said that though, those mapped 3.0 diesels are a force to be reckoned with!
I have an estoril blue 17 plate 330d estate and your comments at the end about estates really resonates with me. With the lowered suspension and 19inch alloys it looks beautiful! Estates don’t seem to carry the favour of suvs but for me your right they are so much better family cars. It’s interesting that a lot of people who know a lot about cars- Chris Harris from top gear for example echoes your sentiment. I have my kids and the dog and the 330d is all I need. I’d never get an mid size crossover suv over it
Thank you for the kind words, Mark! I’m a huge fan of estates and even though I have no need for a car of this practicality, I love them, and love the way they look! I’m not sure if you’ve checked my channel, but I bought my first SUV (First generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo) to test the waters and understand why SUV’s are so popular. It’s an excellent car and I see why people would buy an SUV. But for me personally, now having experienced a full blown SUV, I still would buy an estate counterpart, they offer nearly just as much, with less running costs, better performance, handling, better looks as well as near enough practicality, and that’s me comparing to a full blown SUV like my Cayenne. No idea why you’d want to own a Qashqai or anything similar sized!

I've got a F30 30d saloon XDrive. Brilliant car, plods on the motorways at around 1500 revs and your getting 50mpg. Sport mode and theres plenty there for a laugh. I went for XDrive of the torque figure. Personally, i thonk its wasted through 2 wheels. Plus it pisses down in Wales a lot so i want the traction. 🤣 RainSport 5's are my tyres and they compliment it very well in the rain.

I think you should highly consider one of these. One of the best engines BMW’s make and incredibly reliable, economical and can be mapped with sublime performance! One of the best allrounders in my opinion whilst still retaining the practicality in Touring form!
Get one best car I’ve had
Have a F31, same year, BMW 330D Touring with the M Sports pack and 6K of BMW extras, including a very ususful electric twobar. Totally agree with most of what you say apart from the colour choices.
My car is absolutly stunning in Melborne Red and there are few around so stands out with the black and siver. A smart and practical family car with great power and handling.
Next best thing to my old Saab Areo 2.3 which as fast and better acceleration given it had a full blown turbo with its own intercooler. Sadly is not made so had to compromise, but this car has farbetter handling and cheaper to run.
Honestly John the only reason I didn’t mention Melbourne Red was because I forgot it existed on the F30/F31 platform. Like you said it’s extremely rare and I can only recall seeing them in an SE spec. I’d imagine it would look mega with the M sport trim with some LCI lights too. Sunset Orange looked gorgeous on the F30/F31 platform too. I love SAAB’s, I would love to have one as a daily if I ever needed one again!
Best daily, Michelin pilot sport 4s make it comfy. Gearbox is the best in the market. 70mph easily will see 50mpg. Mapped your seeing 300bhp 600+ nm.
He just mapped his the other day, 327bhp and 680nm!

7:25 Harmen Kardon wasn't part of the M sport + pack, the M sport + pack was the M sport breaks, the 19" wheels and heads up display. And they did make a full pano roof for the F31 that runs back towards the backseats. They had a normal sunroof for the F30.
Maybe it depends what year, cars 2014 and after definitely had H/K included with M Sport +.
@@NathanMannin To be honest, it might be different per country rather than model year.
I've checked a 2019 (last year for this model) optionlist which included all engine types and according to this PDF, HK is not part of the M sport + pack.
It says 'M Sport Plus Pack' includes M sportbrakes, 19 inch M sport double spoke wheels (code 704 M), BMW heads-up dislplay and Speed Limit info. The entire M Sport Plus Pack is listed for 2.495,- euros.
This was an optionlist for the Netherlands tho, it might be different in the UK.
@@TGShunai Ah sorry, I didn’t realise you were from the Netherlands! 🇳🇱 Because I’ve had lots of BMW’s with M Sport +, which never had heads up display. Like you said it must vary from country to country. It’s like the M140i with x-drive, you couldn’t spec an M140i with X-drive in the UK, but I think every other European country could.
HK definitely included on a 2014 F30 330d (UK) but it didn't include head up display or speed limit info. It does have tinted rear windows though, like this one.
Finding it hard to decide whether a diesel or petrol 330 is best. Have you got any feedback?
Absolutely 330d every time over a 330i in this generation. The only thing that’ll come close would be a 340i with the B58 engine, as that engine is fairly frugal in terms of fuel economy as well as great inline six soundtrack! But 330d would be the superior choice over a 330i, more performance, loads more torque as well as exceptional fuel economy, meaning a fatter wallet : )
Simply depends on what kind of engine you like to have. The petrol one obviously revs out more, but the diesel has more low down punch. That's really the only difference, there is no 'better' here imo.
Difficult to decide with rear wheel drive depends on a few things I guess.....Touring plus Xdrive definitely diesel 335 is best option. Awesome car.
I own a 320d F31 touring and what I can say about the car. The fuel economy is good and it's a not slow car....
I do agree, I’ve had various 120d’s and a 420d which is more than punchy enough. It’s just if you have a family of 4, a dog and maybe lots of luggage, then perhaps the car may struggle a little in performance in comparison to a 330d, which has buckets of torque!
Can you get a set of golf clubs in the back without putting the seat down?
@@alanjackson2540 I can’t know for sure as I never owned this car, but I imagine it would easily swallow a set of golf ⛳️ clubs!
Map will give it more torque than the c63 but will never be better
The torque is relentless, but I much prefer the constant surge of the C63’s power delivery!

How much is insurance? I’m looking to swap my 318d 2016 lci with estate
This wasn’t my car, so I unfortunately don’t know the insurance costs. You can go on Autotrader and find a 330d, type in the reg on a comparison site, then you’ll be able to get a quote on what premium you’ll expect to pay.
Worth getting one if I don’t do many motorway miles?
Hard to say, do you only do short commutes? As short journeys typically aren’t good for diesels.
Guys 330d or 335d ? Can’t make my mind up 😂
