    Ink & Paint was home to one of Disney's longest serving employees: Carmen Sanderson, who worked there from 1945 to 2003.

    I wish Disney would make traditional animation again. Some of the greatest Disney classics were hand drawn!

      Hand drawn is just such a beautiful process and I feel Disney 2D has a much more distinct style vs their 3D one, I from a artists perspective just prefer the look of 2D

      @@MandoHalrissian that's very true, but I do wish Disney would do more 2D shorts, both as a call back to the way the studio began and the art form as a whole. Most shorts aren't really there to bring in loads of money as far as I can tell but rather expressions of the animators themselves. It's just sad that it's becoming a lost art form, and maybe shorts could express it to the public eye. I mean we are never going to get another sleeping beauty where it is literally a full movie of the animators just flexing their skills but I would at least appreciate some 2D representation

      Beginning with the Rescuers Down Under, they still did hand-drawn animation but used the CAPS computer painting software for the cels.

    2D animation can still be done digitally. Like song of the sea. Sad part to all the animators (trad/digitally) they get underpaid and work overtime because they get paid per frames.

    • @honeybnoir824
      @honeybnoir824 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the fact that 2D animation is still around to an extent is something a lot of these commenters I've seen so far don't seem to realize. It may not be like how it was throughout most of the 20th century, but it's like they assume 2D is only traditional rather than also digitally drawn. On the other hand, they'd probably still argue that it's not the same. Not trying to knock on traditional 2D animation, though. I have an appreciation for it too, and they're not wrong that there's a difference aside that it's a different medium. And yes, I agree that animators aren't paid will enough for all their work, as far as I know about how they're treated. I get it's a huge business and they need to make a profit to keep it going, but IDK. I guess it's also the overall attitude of the animation industry. It makes wonder how much worse it is in Asia. Not just in places like South Korea where Western 2D animation is typically sourced. I've heard it's no better, if not worse, in Japan with the anime industry.

      @@honeybnoir824 same with Philippines, outsource studios were given expensive training but little salary and poor management. I'm lucky enough to dodge that and get paid by month in a game studio. There are organizations to address the problems but if the unfortunate animators talk, some studios will ostracize you. One of the factors to fall for the underpaid trap is "you'll get exposure and have your name in the credits", but at what cost? Your time, sleep and health and doing tasks not part of the contract.
