They always try to give me ibuprofen after birth in the hospital. Hospitals have too much control.

would a hair test clear this up??

@ganttkc a lot of people don't realize that a urine screening is not meant to be an absolute answer. A negative result is conclusive but a positive result is not because certain illegal drugs and legal otc drugs have similar chemical structure, and can cause a positive result. The next step would be a gc/ms test which is able to differentiate drugs like Zantac from meth. I'm not sure if the hair follicle test would be the same. Its scary that one incorrect urine sample can destroy someone's life.

A confirmation test using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry would clear it up. Immunoassay urine screens are cheap, so they’re used first. The problem arises when these tests are treated like an absolute. A positive assay test should automatically be sent in for confirmation testing using the same urine, which should be stored for at least 14 days post screening. Confirmation testing beaks up the compounds identified in the urine & provides the exact percentage in which they appear. Assay tests just offer a negative/positive assessment & have a frighteningly high inherent failure rate due to the nature of the tests themselves - they look for metabolites, which are produced when the body breaks down any substance, and many of the residual metabolites left by OTC meds are very similar in structure to metabolites left by illicit substances. It’s frustrating to no end how likely assay tests are to be wrong, but how many people/places treat them like concrete evidence of drug use. I’ve even had other doctors laugh at me for defending patients & insisting on confirmation testing, because they haven’t bothered to familiarize themselves with the research. Virtually every other test is more reliable than an immunoassay test, but they’re also a lot more costly

@@DrAnderson1seems like a lot of places say they do a confirmatory test and don't actually do it. I lost my job because they said I had THC in my test. It's not from smoking so idk if it's from some unexpected sources or lab incompetence.
