TRYING ON ZARA JEANS! | RUTH CRILLY

- I ordered a load of Zara jeans which was a mission in itself. Then I tried to work out the difference between the styles, which is minimal but also confusing because the style names are basically all variations on the same four phrases.
Anyway, here's what I tried on - do you like any? I'm trying to find a more easy, relaxed alternative to skinny jeans!
All Zara, obvs:
Regular Fit, High Rise, Regular Length, Long Leg, Rigid. (SEE WHAT I MEAN?!) size 38
Wide Leg size 40
Straight Fit, size 38
High Rise, Straight, Long Length, size 38
There was an extra pair that I cut from the film because they actually turned out to be identical to jeans number one! : )

Who cares what the trend is?! Wear what you love! I admit I look at how cool everyone looks in these new fits but I’m like you . I keep trying them and I just can’t love it. I still love my skinny jeans.❤
The third pair you tried on was the only one with anything like "fit" and I feel like they must all be based on men's patterns, given the extra real estate in the groin region. You're a good sport, Ruth; thanks for posting!
100% convinced that this is an intentional strategy at Zara to create confusion and increase sales. Well, I fell for it. I am totally lost in naming and styles of jeans at Zara and find myself owning 5 pairs of jeans that I thought were different but are not that different. And to be honest I much prefer my skinny and boyfriend jeans that I owned in the first place. Thanks for your honesty, Ruth!!

That's so funny how you're questioning if you look cool in those first jeans. My first thought when I saw them on you was OH MY she is just effortlessly cool! 😂 You can pull them off, Ruth. You are thin, tall, and everything looks amazing on you. Can't say the same for my 5'2 frame that gets swallowed by fabric!

Hilarious, i feel it! Your try on videos are some of my favorites because your responses are so candid! Here's what works for me, consignment shops, Op shops or American Good Will. I periodically go through the jeans and find a nice, broken in style that works for me and a third the price of new.If i don't like them i redonate them. 😊

I’m not bothering too much with all of the loose jeans. In the 90’s/noughties the bootcut and flared hems were more flattering with their dropped waists and tight to the knee.
Skinny jeans are much warmer in winter, I will never go back to baggy jeans, too draughty and they soak up rain on wet pavements.
The very slim ankle grazers are nice for summer… that’s my limit😂

I feel your pain Ruth and what a great video! Jeans 3&4 were my favs. I just love your frank and honest chatty vids… I have 2 pairs of wide leg jeans from H&M and I do like them but not in the winter because then it becomes a ‘boot’ issue… honestly it’s very tricky 😆 xxx

Completely agree with you, Ruth. I just don’t get it. I feel so uncool in baggy jeans, can’t pull them off at all. On a positive note, it seems that the low rise jeans are out of fashion. Yay!
The 3rd pair fit you great because they are form fitting on top and slightly fuller in the leg. The first pair had too much loose fabric in the belly and crotch area. You should just wear what you love because people seem to wear a variety of styles, but we all go back to what we love. Personally I'm petite and have a bit of a belly post menopause and I cannot wear barrel or really wide loose jeans. Besides at my age I don't give a fig what anyone thinks and wear what feels good. You'd look gorgeous in a paper sack Ruth! :)))
I will never stop wearing Levi's slimming skinny mid-waist jeans. They are a godsend to my now prominent middle-age midsection, and I love them.
I tried those today - and loads in Levis - but they just don't seem to suit me!

There was a point when I ordered three types of jeans, in 2 different sizes each, from three different retailers. None of them fitted properly and had to return all of them. Now when I find a pair I like and works for me, I buy a couple of pairs in different colours. But I do like a wide, straight slim and flared style- with no or low stretch. M&S have some great styles at the moment, sizing is a bit tricky but once you find one that fits it’s a relief😅 more than anything 😂

Yes 1991 slim cut black guess jeans and my ultimate favourite at the time my blue Levi 501 button fly. I’m with you Ruth I still wear my skinny jeans at 49 and i dont care

They all start to look the same but I do think the first two had some extra bunching, as you pointed out. I find the whole thing frustrating and have almost given up on jeans and wear trousers much more often! It’s just easier, more comfortable and I feel like I look smarter... unless I choose my loungewear bottoms, then I’m in stretchy comfort and casual heaven but definitely not appropriate for all occasions! Good luck in choosing! I say wear whatever you like best and forget whatever is trending! 😊
To me the best were the first straight pair. The other ones were a bit pouchy and the leg at the end was a bit weird. The ones I like in Zara are the marine and mini flare. Both stretch and are great with thinner jumpers tucked in.

Jeans are all over the place. I recently bought several different styles with similarly names and they all fit different. My favorite to date are TRF Straight high waist, 4365/240. True high waist and fit sooo good!
I got them too! 😂❤ but they are not delivered yet. Hope they fit, some styles are to wide in the leg area it looks weird on me. 🌟🌙✌🏻
Ruth I I’m exactly the same boat, nothing looks good except skinny jeans on me. I don’t have a model figure also which is a disadvantage lol. I have freakishly long legs and a stupidly small waist to shoulder ratio. Stick with the skinnies though you can pull off any ❤xx
😂😂😂just wait, it only gets worse the older you get. Then this magical thing happens when you are getting closer to 60, you don’t give a flying 💩 and the skinny jeans will be all the rage again 😊. Which is why I’m loving the wide leg high waist trend. Our 70’s version jeans were tight though, absolutely no room for the undercarriage or any desecrate bladder leak protection 😂 . Ruth don’t worry you look great in anything 😉

@jan franklin2114. Completely agree. Long gone are the days when I wore Levi 501's....how long ago was that 🙄! Confusion reigns when you have so many jeans with different names, that for some reason all look the same. These days my jeans are good old M&S Sienna Supersoft, and long may they continue 👍.
I'm 63 but I have to say that I do give a s**t. I wear what I look good in and unfortunately that does not include massive badly made jeans. Those of us of a certain age will have noticed that the quality of all clothing now, is just appalling. Unless you go very high end. But I miss jeans that were made with no stretch in them. Levi's from the day were absolutely amazing. Loved the quality and the fit. And until they bloody well went into receivership I loved TopShop skinny low rise jeans. The fit was incredible and nice soft thin denim. They were brilliant.
I'm the same Ruth. I'll always be a skinny jeans woman. I have your build and find all the wide high waist jeans look ridiculous on me. They come up to my boobs almost. Clothes are all larger now which is a pain for people who are small.
Im a big fan of Good American jeans. If you like the lifting effect at the bum area, they will do that. And they are very straightforward with their styles. I loveee my super flared jeans from them, never thought I would actually look good in ANY jeans.

I liked the button fly (last pair) on you. They looked like a good fit, without being too tight or too baggy. They looked good from here!

I just ordered some from Target and had the same confusion. Actually, one pair is still floating out there somewhere, it’s been weeks! I totally understand the bunchiness of the first pair, same with a pair I tried on. My wide leg ones I tried were nice but no stretch and I fear they’ll shrink as soon as I wash them. And how is it that they’re all the same length but some are so damn long and some not long enough?
I found a pair of boot leg fit 7 for all mankind in a charity shop for a fiver. Had to take them up by about 5 inches... But they are my favourite jeans!!

I'm similar size to you between a 10 and a 12 but petite as well, i have tried so many other styles to get out of skinnies but like the first pair you tried on there is too much fabric in the front,

Yeah, none. None have the guess/diesel/firetrap or the 501 look. I wonder if river island might work. I just do high waist, straight leg, slim fit from next these days.
I have a similar curvy figure to you (and same name❤), I like Levi’s 501 cropped and Levi’s Ribcage.
I like the first one...
I’ve seen mid rise, high waisted flares and boot cut in stores, so that’s what I’m sticking with. I don’t like the wider leg unless it’s 7:41 low waisted. I don’t know Ruth. Good luck on your choice.😅 not a fan of what they have out now

I can’t remember which is which,I’m so confused and this is the problem when I go to the shops for jeans. Honestly to me they all looked the same apart the baggy at the front ones and the ones with buttons.😂
I love no stretch a bit oversize vintage Levis. A bitoversize is trending now in NYC Zara sizes are so inconsistent have to try so many on. Worse than buying a swim suit. If you like skinny jeans continue to wear them

I needed this review!! I have tried and tried and it all looks like shit on me. I like wide leg jeans if the hips and bums are fitted and have stretch but I haven't been able to find any! My sister has a pair and they are sold out. I'm turning 45, I'm 5'9" and weigh about 138lbs and when I try on these jeans it gives me a Mum jean gunt and I look hideous. Also, they will be super tight at the waist giving me a muffin top and baggy in the gut and ass. 34-29-39 and I look awful in these damn jeans.
Are your stairs slippery? I am looking to get a rug runner on our stairs in case I slip down them and crash on the floor!

Try a proper flare. Tight around upper part and flare from the knees or try boyfriend jeans.
First time watching you ..😂l😂😂😂you like what you grew up with .. I grew up with straight button fly Levi’s .. I am so happy skinny jeans are gone ! We had super tight when I was young .. we had to lay down to zip them up ..never a fan . I think the second pair of straight ones you tried on looked great .. they will stretch and they will “mold” to your body .. style with a white button down or a tighter fit jumper ..trainer or sling back kitten heel .. fabulous.Look up Emmanuel Alt .. she is editor of French Vogue .. she styles hers perfectly.❤❤

Personally, as long as they're not to baggy around your undercarriage, you're lucky that most of those suited you. Plenty of stretch around the waist is what's needed for me these days 😉.
Maybe you need to send them all back and go for another brand! Only keep them if you’re comfortable in them or you’ll never wear them anyway!

I have that issue with zara jeans... It makes my "pouch" area look awful. They have a weird cut, they make my crotch look bad... I don't know. I just use them with long jumpers and long tshirts to hide that.

All those jeans just are so ill fitted on you I don’t get it you have such a nice body! I used to love wearing jeans and I haven’t found a pair that I love in years.
I remember when skinny jeans appeared. The idea of giving up bootcut and flares was awful. Now you’ll have to peel the skinny jeans off my cold dead body. I just like them and I feel like any other style looks so weird or unflattering on me.
Third pair at 5:40 fit you best... they are closer to the body. Why change what's best for you? Stretchy skinny is coming back anyway
I hate stretch jeans. Hate. Hate. Hate! I am a 63 year old skinny jeans wearer and I miss TopShop (proper TopShop) because their skinny low rise non stretch jeans always fit me... I hate high waisted jeans because I have a short torso and so the high rise comes to just under my boobs... haha.... hate them. I agree with you. You are a similar build to me. Clothes now, tend to be made for larger ladies because people are much larger than have ever been.

Let’s face it, you have the perfect slim figure with long legs for skinnies and I agree, they’re comfortable! Out of these though, the third pair looked the best.

None of them are worth keeping. The cut is wrong. I hate it when jeans make my butt look flat and there's extra fabric where there shouldn't be! Try other brands. I always go to the shops and try on hundreds, until I find a flattering one! 😂
None of them look good and if they don’t look good on you they will look even worse on everyone else 😂 stick with the classic skinny also think the whole high rise fade is for women who haven’t had children!
I dislike Zara jeans, they just don't fit well, don't hold up the skin tight enough 😂. I rather spend money somewhere else when it comes to jeans.
