When Zayn dropped the album he posted “Icarus Falls: don’t get ahead of yourself”. I think it’s about falling in love too fast and too hard (flying too close to the sun) which inevitably leads to a tragic fall because it’s not based on reality but on expectations and aspirations. Truly one of the best albums ever and so under appreciated.

Can we talk about zayn's art? The way he talks about different themes/situations/ experiences in his songs yet you can feel a connection throughout his work. He says "I guess I flew too close to the sun" in Icarus interlude but he remains hopeful when he says "I don't mind falling, if it means I get to fly again"? And also in River road when he says "Know that I will see the sun again". He is a genius, so proud of him.
Icarus Falls is a long album but every song It's extremely good.
Zayn deserves more recognition for this project!

Yes, people tend to not listen to the lyrics and we need to look deeper to LISTEN to what he's trying to say. Like the messages on Nobody is listening. It's not some random BS he sings about. His songs has almost always a message to the listener.

IM SO HAPPY YOU APPRECIATE ZAYN AS A SONGWRITER SOMETIMES PEOPLE DONT PAY ATTENTION TO IT BECAUSE OF HIS AMAZING VOCALS, THIS MAN IS A VOCALIST AND A SONGWRITER
In the first part of the album zayn talks about how he had fallen too much in love with this person, but I think there were always signs of the bad things, but he was so blinded that it didn't seem like a problem when in reality he was just hurting himself, That's why in i don't mind he says "you can tell me your lies, I don't mind". He just wants to be with that person no matter what, and he has become very dependent on that relationship, (icaro was warned, if he flew too close to the sun he could die, but he did it anyway) but in icarus interlude he realizes the damage (like the sun to icaro when he burned his wings and made him fall into the water causing his death), and I think there is a very important phrase "i've been lying with the liars" he realizes that he is lying to himself about the greatness of the relationship, that in reality it was all lies, and that he made a big mistake by wanting and loving so much to that person (let me be your man, so i can love you for the rest of my life). I think what he says in the second part happens while he falls, he begins to review all the problems, all the idea that he had of the relationship begins to cross his mind, but it is too late. The story ends with "too much", which is the realization that he wanted too much, that his expectations are too high and they will not be able to be fulfilled.

The falls part of the album is the dramatic part of love, knowing your love wont work out, its the sad realization that dawns on you...while the icarus part is the hopeful romantic one when hes blindly in love.

The album is based on the greek myth of Icarus (he is the son of Daedalus, a craftsman) and both Icarus and his dad are in prison. The dad builds some wings for icarus made out of feathers, wax and metal frames for him to fly out of the prison and Daedalus warns him to not fly too close to the sun but when Icarus escapes flying, he’s too euphoric and flew too close so his wings melted and he fell.
in the album you can tell that in the beginning Zayn sounds rly happy and in love, like he’s in a really good state. Then in the Icarus Interlude he says “Call me Icarus, I guess i flew too close to the sun” and after that every track sounds darker and even the visuals in the youtube videos of the songs after the interlude change to a darker sky, raining, fire, etc.
The versatility in this album is insane 🔥

the album is originally 27 songs that's why dtd and still got time seem out of place they were added later. It's not really about love with a person it depicts Icarus's story and his infatuation with the sun which ended him which aligns with Zayn's struggle with fame
The album title actually appears to be hugely symbolic of Zayn's life and experiences from One Direction band member to solo artist and his battles with fame and anxiety along his journey. Icarus in ancient Greek mythology escaped from prison with a pair of wings made from wax and feather which melted when he 'flew too close to the sun'.
that's both beautiful and sad. And so fitting to his situation, so the album concept is genius

this album is a bop, and yeah I will say that at first time after listening to some songs I was like nah it isn't that good but believe me those songs are my fav now, you just have to listen to it again and again and if you don't understand his accent so you can check lyrics too and you'll fell in love with his songs too♥️

This album is basically about how Zayn loves this person immensely & just wants her to be truthful, but then later on he finds out that the person is fake & doesn’t really love him & is basically taking advantage of him.

Steven the songs that don´t belong to the album are Still Got Time and Dusk Till Dawn. Too Much is essencial to the album because he starts the album with Let Me saying "Let me be your man" and conclues with Too Much with him saying "You just can't love me enought, that's why i need a touch" closing the album with him having self love and cheating on her, and also the first version of the album (without the deluxe tracks) has Too Much has the final song. So happy that you reacted to this album, for a little context in my opinion the first half of the album is like love letters to a person, then after Icarus Interlude begins, he says "I've been lying to the liars" witch means till that point hasn't been fully honest with himself, that's why the second half of the album he talks about so much more then love, like anxiety (Fresh Air), drugs (Sour Diesel), saying that he doesn't see himself has a good person and that he has a lot of flaws (Good Guy) and obviasly the flaws of the relatioship of the first part of the album (Insomnia, Entertainer, All That and Rainberry) being like a self reflection this second half. Keep up the awsome work Steven ;)
i think songs chronologicly reverse listed. like he stars with too much , a toxit relationship then he finds someone thats really understands him and helps him (there you are) .then he starts to feel love again. but we listen this as opposite cause the bad relationship still his mind and he lies about good one even to his self (icarus interlude). icarus falls reflection of 1d times or the toxit relationships idk

Steve Finally! Zayn is amazing. This Album is Epic. Many people were like 29 songs, I was like hell yeah, can we ever get enough? This album earned over a billion views last year on Spotify. If he promoted it, it would have been a larger beast than it is. Remember two albums in one. Your observations were spot on regarding Zayn and his relationships, he has two the public one and the private one. He picked up the same theme in the calamity of it all on NIL. My top 5 IC 1. I’m loving this rn Zayn is so criminally underrated. I hear that Good Years is about his time in 1D. Every time I hear it the lyrics tear me apart. I wish that the boys could patch up what ever issues they had/ have with each other. We don’t need to have it public but just having them be good with each other is enough

@@hannahnur6784 I think they can't speak to much about each other publicly because of agreements with their old management, you know certain clausuls. But also imagine how all fans would go completely nuts if they knew the boys are on speaking terms. Lots of expectations of a reunion.

I believe that their management would have heart attacks if they publicly talked about the things that involve each other. Liam even jokingly said that some of the boys teams would probably send Cease and desist letters.

47:08 , so I think the song is probably abt Perrie, they dated for four years or so got engaged and all but then in 2016 when Zayn broke off their engagement, after that their was this whole drama about how Zayn apparently dumped perrie via a text and left her "homeless" (ofcourse all of this was just pure bullsh*t and not true at all) but then perrie kinda tried to milk off of this, shading Zayn in their interviews and concerts multiple times so I think you wish you knew's last verse is probably about how he never expected her to act like this after they got separated and the "don't wanna make a headline and lose" is probably about how the media houses tried to paint him as the bad guy (like always duh) in this whole situation and how he's not that petty to go on milking fame and making headlines from a breakup.

I absolutely agree with you, since the beggining of his career (and mainly with this album) i've always thought that his music is made only to be listened and enjoyed with your eyes closed laying in bed, just with his voice would be enough but the melodies are so powerful too, this album is absolute heaven on earth (which is fitting because of the title). Also, you should try to listen to it while you're a little bit tipsy it makes it 100 times better lol.
