Still The One isn't really the closing track, there's actually 3 more songs (Truly Madly Deeply, Magic and Irresistible) but they were only in some versions of the album.
Also, Little Things and Over Again were written by Ed Sheeran, that's probably why they have more mature and better lyrics.

The first two albums were the weaker ones in their discography because they started to mature with their sound and lyrics in the writing of the third album when Louis fought their management and fired a lot of the writers because they didn’t want to be bubblegum pop anymore with generic songs so he took over and wrote 12 out of the 18 tracks on Midnight Memories and later on all the boys joined in as well which is why the albums kept getting better and better.
omfg i totally forgot that the 'more' in change my mind was a note change because i havent heard the studio version in so long and now it just doesnt sound right

Liam, Zayn & Harry’s voices were more mature than Niall’s and Louis’ in first 2 albums. As a result they got pushed to the back a lot & auto-tuned a lot. Once the guys got their voices thru puberty, plus voice coaching, then there was gradual rebalancing of the parts. I am an old fan so when when they first came out I just looked at them as little boys whose voices weren’t mature & writing was clearly geared to tween girls. I paid zero attn to them. Then heard Story of My Life & remember hearing it first time & then shocked when I heard it was 1D. Thought, “okay their singing & voices are maturing- much better!”. I now own FOUR and MITAM, and feel that MITAM should have been nominated for a Grammy, and find it pretty much a ‘no skip’ album. How many bands go one to EVERY member having a successful post-band career? They worked really hard in the band to improve & be best they could & it shows- mad respect.
I was a senior in high school when they came out and I honestly despised them because I was such a music snob back then. It took the stress of grad school and living apart from my husband for a year to get into them. Their innocence and upbeatness really helped me get through that time so I just appreciate them so much now. I still rock out in the car to this album when I need pure happiness
I had a similar story. I hated them when they came out because it was “cool” to, but a year after they split up I was going through a shitty time in high school and I stumbled upon the 4 album and became addicted to them ever since. I seriously regret not being a fan when they were together though.

Same here, but it happened to me about a month ago. Work stress was making me a wreck, and I stumbled on 1D after googling to find out more about the new judge on 2018 X-Factor. I was intrigued that someone so young was a judge and impressed by how very kind he was to the contestants. I learned who Louis was and fell immediately down the 1D rabbit hole and on to the solo albums. I really needed the lift and hope their songs bring. My daughter was at first horrified (soooo embarrassing), but now we’re bonding over all the music. Hubby agreed to go with me to see Harry next year, and I’m slowly showing him how great all the guys’ music is.

Since you are having a kinda hard time telling if it is Liam who's singing then a little tip for ya.. Most of their songs in their first two albums (even in their x factor days and I think even on other albums) Liam is the person who sings the first verse

I really like this album. Yes, I absolutely prefer the latter 3 albums but these are all good pop songs. Sure, they are made for a younger audience (and not me) when it comes to lyrics, as in they have a more innocent vibe but they are good IMO and shouldn't be dismissed. It's very upbeat and a lot of fun but also has wonderful slow songs. And always their harmonizing is amazing.
Partly why I fell in love with this album was because I got into it after watching their movie This is us which is the Take me home Tour. I feel these songs have a little bit more of a rock vibe to them live. Or maybe it was just the energy I felt when I watched them. And I could definitely notice Louis more in the songs after watching the movie. I love Louis. Great react! Only one more to go!

I went to a concert on their Take Me Home tour and let me tell you, Back For You is like 10x more epic live and it's been one of my favorite songs ever since. And 5sos was great back then too, but they grew just like 1D did, evolving more into themselves over the past...7 years. Damn I feel old now haha. Thanks for reacting to the album! It's so fun!

You absolutely MUST find a decent video of summer love live. Liam and Zayn harmonise in falsetto with just an acoustic and it is out of this world AMAZING! I remember seeing this tour live and being absolutely blown away.

So many arena jams on this album, and they were phenomenal in an arena, live as well. Would 100% go back to 2013 to see this tour again.

When you do 5sos self titled make sure you do the b-sides and rarities too, literally every single song is amazing! Maybe not in the same video, it would be really long, but you definitely don’t want to miss out on those songs
YES there are so many b-sides and rarities, I've rediscovered songs that have almost been lost to history. Some are kinda hard to find actually
What if for the reunion the boys sing Cmon Cmon and when Zayn's part comes on the whole place is silence and then you hear a beat then you hear Zayn's voice and he sings his part of the song? That would be soooooo sick!

I don’t care how cheesy it is but Last First Kiss is one of my favorite one direction songs. Like I’m aware that it’s not their best song but I have a weird emotional attachment to it for no reason whatsoever

Thank you Steven. This brought back many memories. You always mention their amazing harmonies. What's truly amazing is that they NEVER even sang together until after they were put together as a group on X Factor. They were all solo contestants who were eliminated. You have to give the judges a lot of credit for seeing something in them to put them through as a group. Also, they only had five weeks to find their sound before the had to perform for the next round of eliminations.
Directioners and 5sos family are like two best friends: we support and help each other.
I am a fan of both the bands and I have met lots of nice people from both the fandom.
I just like watching people enjoy One Direction. It makes me feel happy. I do enjoy their later albums more, but I feel the earlier ones prepared them to make the awesome music they made later. And Change my Mind is much better live mostly because of the note changes. If you like the stripped back songs, watch their acoustic videos. They did a SiriusXM for More Than This and What Makes You Beautiful, and One Thing (from their first album). There's also a SiriusXM acoustic version of Little Things. There's also Steal My Girl and Night Changes from Four. Also there are acoustic versions of Live While We're Young and a few others. Then you can really hear their voices and how well they harmonize. And if you like their ballads, you should react to their performance of Moments live on the Today Show. Honestly, I'm not a huge pop music fan, but there are songs on each of their albums I just love, and I can easily say that overall, 1D is my favorite band, and Harry Styles is my favorite singer/performer/artist then and now. They are truly talented together and solo.
