Has anyone solved the error/challenge of using interactive reference layer and plotting points at the same time mentioned at the 8-9min mark in the video?
Hi as @glenfergus mentions below...I have also been able to add points as well (set to average) but the autozoom will not work as long as the reference layer exists. That's a big drawback because once a user manually zooms in , then selects a point the map will zoom back out forcing the user to have to manually zoom back in.
So the problem I have, I have the custom reference layer in, but it wont do the dynamic zoom. When I load points in with Long and Lat in the bubble layer it does do the dynamic zoom when you select or filter points. Do you know if I can have this dynamic zoom functionality with a custom reference layer. e.g. in your custom reference layer when you select a basin, I need it to zoom into just that basin, like it would if it was a point
Great video! Any things to note about using Statistical Area shapefiles downloaded from the ABS? Even after simplifying Power BI still throws a bunch of errors when using these .zip files as a reference layer
Has anyone solved this error yet? Would like to use interactive reference layer and plotting points at the same time mentioned at the 8-9min mark in the video.
It maps them correctly if you right click on the average fields and choose Don't Summarize, but the names in the Location field never seem to map properly regardless of the map visual, Azure or otherwise

I solved it! For anyone else having this problem - you will need to delete all the features from the json file that have a "geometry":null property
Great video Alice, thanks. The MS video on the PBI update page is not really helpfull to potential users.
Was so excited until I saw it doesn't properly map the bubble layer 😢
