Watching this breaks my heart I met her during a Disco Taping with ABC she was delightful and so sweet, she never got a chance to enjoy her career her label never paid her after all the AWARDS. OSCAR, GRAMMY GOLDEN GLOBES she had her on TV show which only last one season and bad recording contract and she fought for many years which eventually won but after all the attorney expenses she was left with 1.2 million dollars not the proper accurate royalties as a Songwriter she so rightfully deserved. Incrediblely talented and so underrated. It's only now when we lose a talent like this that we really understand the magnitude of her brillance. GREAT JOB in editing these wonderful highlights. Irene was so extremely talented. I’ve gained so much admiration and respect for her over the past week.
She deserved to be surrounded by friends and family on Thanksgiving. Not scared and alone. That is wrong on so many levels.

@@lindaalesia In a 2018 interview she says that most of her siblings had passed. Maybe 1 sister was still alive but older. Covid made her afraid to have people over or go for long excursions anywhere. I don't know what damage Hurricane Ian did to her home but I did watch some videos of burned down houses, destroyed fences of Largo on CNN. I don't think she evacuated before the hurricane came ashore. There's no doubt that would have been stressful to stay and endure it. Especially if your electricity gets knocked out.
@@Star-Explorers She does have an older sister here in the Tampa Bay Area with children and grandchildren. One of her daughters posted on FB that she hadn’t seen or spoken to Irene in a long time but that her son (Irene’s grand nephew) went to her house regularly to help her with things around her home. I believe he’s the one that called for a welfare check when she was found. So, maybe Covid did keep her away from the family. Largo, where she lived is not in an evacuation zone so she most likely didn’t evacuate for Hurricane Ian but I’m sure it was still stressful for her. Fortunately my family and I were in NJ. Anyway, we won’t know exactly why she ended up so alone that a welfare check had to be done or why she wasn’t encouraged to be compliant with doctor’s orders for her medical conditions. It’s heartbreaking but it’s comforting to know that she is in God’s memory - her talent, beauty and the things she loved like her music and the beach. She is resting peacefully until she is awakened with the hope of fulfilling her dream of living forever.
@@lindaalesia Linda I might ask you to read my book first just to be sure I got the right perspective on Irene's life. I'm trying to find as much as possible though there are some incredible discoveries I never knew about. I contacted the director of the documentary Irene narrated for and asked why Irene wanted to be part of a documentary about domestic violence in 1995. After researching what Irene did over her career I discovered that the little girl who voiced Anne-Marie in All Dogs Go To Heaven had died during the making of the animation film. Irene dedicated the theme song she sang Love Survives to that little girl. Why no one ever asked her about that in any interview tells me that "we" never really knew the real Irene.

I appreciate the footage of Irene in her later years. She aged beautifully and, from her interviews, you can tell she'd become more grounded from her experiences.
