My down jacket's label has instructed me to wash it inside out. Would this affect the way the repellency is applied to the jacket?

Hi on the box it says to use 2 caps per jacket while on the video it says 1, which one should I follow?

      My question exactly!

@@hodgkissphotography it’s a great product, but I would always use a little more than recommended. I recently washed my Rab Microlite with 200 mL of this product and I’m extremely happy with the results, especially considering it is probably now more water repellent than when new.

What do you mean by full washing cycle ( cotton, delicate , wool, synthetic)?

Honestly, it depends on the garment. Washing any kind of jacket, I would always use a delicate program that doesn’t spin too hard and only rinses once.

I used another brand, I didnt follow the instructions, I take responsibility. Anyway, its a green puffer jacket, now it has dark green areas where the repellent touched and other areas where its the normal green where it did not touch. Im guessing when I poured it in, the product touched certain areas and not others. ANYWAY, ive tried everything form washing to scrubbing with a toothbrush and goof off citrus cleaner. Ive taken it to a dry cleaner and was told it will not come clean so they suggested not wasting my money. My question, is the jacket ruined, or would this get it all one color of green again? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Jesse, I am sorry to hear about the problem you have had. From your description, it sounds like the garment may unfortunately be ruined and it will be impossible to restore the colour. My suggestions would have been to clean with a household detergent first, and if that doesn’t work, to hand treat the effected area with a stronger cleaner (you would then have to re-clean and reproof). As you have already tried these with no success, then It may not be possible to restore the original colour.
My only other suggestion would have been to try using a solvent or white spirit on the areas and gently scrubbing (a simpler version to how the dry cleaners would clean). If they have stated that dry cleaning would be a waste of money, then scrubbing with a solvent will most likely not work.
Apologies that I cannot suggest any other ways to help you.

Also i would suggest you speak to the company who's product ruined your jacket with their product, to seek advise on sorting your jacket. In future our products would be more suitable to cleaning and proofing your down.

Thank you, I haven't given up yet. I even thought maybe hanging the jacket to expose all areas and then applying the waterproofing chemical again. This time thouroghly saturating every area, every crack, every seam. I'd rather it be the darker green than two tones of green, just 1 uniform color.
