@@June-tb4vi They didn't have a reason not to believe him. Chandlers parents believed him too. They also believed his girlfriend Cat, without meeting her parents, and she was honest. He seems to be the only liar out of that whole group. Probably why they didn't question him, honest people don't think like that. When I was younger it never crossed mind that my boyfriends were liars, the shock of finding out I didn't really know them is the only reason I'm suspicious of people now.
I agree with you completely... He was never grounded..his mom didn't ignore his doctor appointment..they just took his word for it all... Cat obviously spent much time there and did a lot with them...wasn T she a bit suspicious since she knew what kind of people they were?? Anyone who could kill their own loving mother and father and then actually dismember their bodies and dump them all over is capable of anything. This guy is in a league of his own.
I saw in Cat’s original interview with detectives that Cress also gets paid by the county and apparently that area is protected because of the bees; very lucky that it didn’t all die or get destroyed due to Chandlers disgusting actions
Defense attorney: Yes I just have 1 question. As part of your training as a deputy do you get up in the morning and get dressed for work? Deputy: Uh yes I do. Defense: Ok! No further questions.
I gotta give the defense credit. They did the best they could without resorting to cheap tricks and theatrics. The defense barely says anything. Barely asks questions. Without these defense attorneys we wouldn't have a fair justice system.
@@scotthenderson292 yeah I watch lots of trials and I totally agree. They have to do their job as best as they can so the client gets a fair trial. I don’t get mad at the defense for that in any trial I watch. These two had no real defense to offer. No one to stand by him to call. Cat had to speak against him at that point or look guilty herself. They just had nothing really.
Thankyou Law and Crime network for the excellent sound and visual quality of this upload. It's really irritating when all u can hear at the a\c's. What a sad and disturbing case. The judge is doing an excellent job and he comes across as really fair and patient. The prosecution have made their case in chief very easy to follow, the trial seems to be going their way . From the evidence I have heard from the witnesses Chandler is guilty of the murder and dismemberment of his mum and dad and I hope he spends many years recounting everything they ever did for him as they seem like brilliant parents. Between Joel guy jr. And this, it's like the world has gone mad . Wow. What a waste of life.
Why this guy has pleaded Not Guilty is beyond me. He has absolutely NO defense. It really shows his character, or rather lack there of, making his brother, ex-girlfriend, her mother (the poor women was an emotional wreck on the stand), his uncle and everyone else go through a trial, he should KNOW he can’t win. I guess he keeps living in his fantasy world. You know, the one where he has a job with American Family, is one class away from graduating college and has a job lined up with Space X in Florida. That fantasy world.
The child lives on hope - a magical hope that something is going to save him. It's worked in the past: his mother no doubt had saved him for years from a father who should have been the dominant parent: he knew the score. I believe his mother ruined him, though I don't blame her for his evil acts.
That's why I didn't understand why people were so hard on the defense team. They have literally nothing to work with. What are they going to object to? There's no argument.
@@YeaNo. Just my own humble opinion here. I think it partially has to do with their attitude. The defendant did not show any grief, or facial expressions other than annoyance; let's assume this guy really WAS innocent. Let's say he was framed; he would be destroyed that his parents were dead, angry that the culprit was still loose, and the defense could have used that, but Chandler has the emotional range of a coffee table. Even against almost unbelievable odds, sometimes these guys walk away; for that to happen the jury has to like them and the defense team, which in this case they obviously don't. Those 2 women should have been prosecutors or law clerks. Even from the first virtual hearing to set bail, the grey-haired woman was a straight up you know what, insisting on a 10,000 bail for 2 murder ones because for him, 1, 000 dollars might as well be a million. They made themselves so unlikable he didn't have a chance (which was all to the good). A really good defense attorney is like a psychologist,;they watch the jury's faces to see what resonates and gives them more of that.
Narcissistic to put his family friends and community through this horrible crime. No way the prosecution refused a deal unless he wanted less time than the offer!
Yes, but everyone one, no matter what they did, has the right to mount a defense in the US. His attorneys didn't have to do much, the state was so prepared, so they just threw whatever out there.
@@sharongrant6498 I don’t think that was their point. Like we get that he had a right. However, he simply had no chance lol. Like he did everything possible to look suspicious and get caught. So it’s like the defense knew they had no chance and just threw random questions that were completely invaluable-but done in order to seem productive in Chandlers eyes lol.
@@nuuwaveplus he most likely only lied to them so as they asked their prepared questions the lies were exposed real time. Hard to ounce neck from that.
He did try to set up his girlfriend, her mother and partner by hiding the firearm, body parts, crime & cleanup tools, and bloody trash on their land. Throwing them under the bus. He used everyone in his own manner. It was all about him and no one else.
@@raphaellavictoria01his girlfriend would definitely be a suspect. And in his police interrogation, he mentioned that his gf's mom didn't like his parents. He was definitely trying to set them up.

I guess you could say defendant doesn't have to prove he is innocent, just has to create reasonable doubt that it could theoretically been someone else who killed his parents and left the torso of his father at his girlfriend's mom's girlfriend's house, etc.
Hard to defend hard evidence. Unless you have a pair of gloves that don't look like they fit. please just stop it unless you have a lawyers degree. If the lawyers had done their job they would have begged the prosecution for less time for a guilty plea. That would have been impossible W /O the death penalty, this state does not carry the death penalty. The prosecution had way to much evidence to accept any plea. Spoil your kids and they turn on you bc they are entitled to all you work for your whole life. Don't hold them accountable and they take your life. We were raised with a work ethic , I raised my boys to have a work ethic. That teaches them pride in themselves. You give them everything and then they are entitled.
I can’t help but think that he was trying to set up Kat. Why else would he put basically all of the tools he used and even his poor parents remain on the farm?? This is not a man. It is a monster. His poor brother couldn’t even have his parents all together. I just hope they are in heaven together looking down and seeing how many people loved them.
I'm sure this will stir many of you up, but it's a shame WI abolished the death penalty. Why should we care for such monsters for the rest of their lives. This is such a horrific case.
Agreed 💯 Controversial, yes, but this type of case is the very reason the death penalty exists in the first place. He was given everything and it still wasn't enough. @@chrismeier3805 I actually agree with you in some of ways. And I honestly appreciate being able to speak civilly about it with you-- it's kind of rare these days when ppl disagree. 🙏💕 We should be able to just throw him down a hole where he has to contend with his own thoughts for the rest of his life. But we can't. All humans have basic rights, including prisoners. He would still be afforded basic needs & comforts; seeing as how this joker didn't want to work or really do anything with his life anyway, he'd probably be ok with a nice long stay in solitary confinement. The prison system in the US is for-profit, and the cost to house a prisoner can amount to an average of anywhere between $35000-75000/year, based upon some light research I did a few years ago. (I encourage everyone to do a little research of their own into this subject.) Why should a company be able to profit off of keeping this guy housed for the rest of his life? TBH, I guess my reasoning with it all really has more to do with the current structure of our prison system. But to be fair, Halderson's actions were beyond barbaric. I'm not one to ever fully support death penalty. There is a lot that is wrong with our justice system that makes the death penalty a frightening facet to the way we sentence people. But if it exists, which it does (apparently not in WI though), then I'd suggest that Halderson is a strong candidate to receive it.
What in the world was that boy thinking? What could drive a human being to do something so heinous to their own parents or anyone? And to know that he pled not guilty. What a strange, evil, sick, wicked person. I can’t figure this one out at all. He has caused massive destruction to the lives of many who knew and loved his parents.
Honestly a Narsisist has little empathy for others. That is something taught in the first yrs of their lives . Manipulation starts early too. These games the start on in their youth teaches no empathy and a unrealistic view of death. Repetitive shooting and killing is not a way to teach reality .
The repetition of things that have to be said in court would drive me nuts . I asked my daughter last night ,” Do you want a drink of water, tea, or something else ?”😆 If you get it you get it
I think she does that so it can't be objected to by the defense as being a "leading question." She gives an idea of the type of information she is seeking, but still leaves it open-ended.
Seeing the tools really must have been so unsettling for the jury. To know that these were used in the dismemberment of human beings .... I just can't get my head around how anyone could do this. Especially to his own parents.

Oh my god, the defense..! :D At moments I am not sure why they are there. When they ask questions in cross-examination they never get to anything. No question they asked insinuated anything related to the crime, or the accussed not being involved, or somebody else potentially being involved. Nothing. The only thing they did that made sense was the decision not to put Chandler up on the witness stand. I hope his attorney writes a book, I would LOVE to know what her strategy was. I cant believe he hid the phones and licenses in a shoe. I don't even know how to feel about this case. It's insane!!!! Did he do that because he was grounded?
I don't think he actually was "grounded".. I think he just told Cat that because he needed an excuse to not hang out and that's when he planned and executed the killings.
@@llea-e8b I agree. I think that he lied about that too. That's why he told Cat not to try to talk to his mom about it. His dad found out about some of the lies when he called either the school or the job. I forget which... I think the saddest thing I’ve ever seen is the testimony of Cat. That poor young woman thought she was in a actual relationship with an actual person. How devastated she has to be to find it all a lie.
The son is so ignorant… He didn’t think they could subpoena his dads work computer and probably doesn’t even know they can match soil. What the heck was he thinking?!
It's entertaining listening to defense questions knowing which straws they are going to try to grab for next . . . and it's all so ludicrously predictable.
He sure is no Einstein. He uses a bag with his then girlfriends name on it. Unless he was trying to frame her. It does look this way considering he also disposed of his parents remains on or near the property her Mother and Step-Mother lived. More then likely he used the bags not realizing they had her name on them. The location was simply it was somewhere he was familiar and he didn't count on getting caught. Why he would choose to do so while someone was home is a head scratcher.
What the heck did Catherine see in this bum??Seeing that poor girl on the stand was devastating and clearly she is in a bad place.. Hopefully she can move on from this
Thank god in some ways this came to fruition. She could have wound up married to this man & god knows what kind of horrors time would have unleashed over time. He was a profound pathological liar and she would have exposed him eventually. The girlfriend was absolutely fine. He put her in this bad situation & now that he’s gone, she will be much better off.
It's a common thing defense lawyers advise their clients to do. They do that because people who sit through lengthy proceedings that are nerve-wracking for them tend to be fidgety with their hands or let their eyes dart around the room, which often gets misinterpreted as a guilty conscious or a gernerally shifty personality. Subconsciously we associate nervousness (or at least lacking confidence) with lying and deception - but given the pressure of such a trial, even if you are innocent, that's a dangerous assumption to make. So defense attorneys tend to keep their clients busy with something that makes them look attentive, serious and calm.
His girlfriend and brother are very very lucky to be alive. Especially the girlfriend. He'd planted so much evidence at her parents' place, if he'd killed her the night she slept at his parents' house over the holiday weekend, and then (successfully) hidden he her body....he'd have blamed everything on her, somehow. I believe the prosecution attorney who did the closing said that she believes the girlfriend still does not truly understand just how terrible was the danger she was in. The thing I keep thinking...if the lies were so so terrible that death was required...I would instantly select myself - not the horror of what he did. It would be so much easier, less awful,...well...I assume people will understand what I mean. If he had progressed another few years in life he would have become just like that awful Todt, who was just convicted of murdering his wife and three children in Florida. Todt had been found out committing fraud, so he murdered his entire family, but not himself.

I remember Cres’s testimony about the barn, since I was startled that she’d found a rifle in there months later. I’m not all the way through this video but hearing her explain how much she’d taken out of the barn, how many large, bulky items were in there, and how far back the rifle was found, is much more understandable as to how it was not found the first time through. Remember, they didn’t know something was in that barn, just looking through yet another building on a 30+ acre farm, that Chandler had full access to for multiple days, for something to jump out at them that could be tied to these crimes.
@@shdz57 At least they got it in the end. Even if they had never found it they still had enough tp send this cretin away for the rest of his life. Overall I think they have done a great job.
@@lb8781 - Chandler is a thin guy, who was looking to hide that rifle in a hard-to-access place.
You are spot on oh and let’s not forget his colostomy bag and his loss of leg movement! This guy is a walking nightmare.
The defense attorneys just have nothing. It's a tidal wave of incriminating evidence. The judge is awesome!

@@sharongrant6498 I don’t think that was their point. Like we get that he had a right. However, he simply had no chance lol. Like he did everything possible to look suspicious and get caught.

We should be able to just throw him down a hole where he has to contend with his own thoughts for the rest of his life.

The same ones all guilty defendants spend their whole trials making. Jack Squat!

@@lb8781 - Chandler is a thin guy, who was looking to hide that rifle in a hard-to-access place. He probably had to put some effort into the hiding place - crawling over things, squeezing between others, and then moving the boards he used to conceal the rifle.

This is a “ Tough “ Case to watch! Those poor People!! What a HORRIBLE THING to do to the Same people, WHO BROUGHT HIM INTO THIS WORLD!!!
It looks like he was trying to make it look like his girlfriends mother and partner carried out the crime, what a nasty individual..
Ohh! That's a thought. I mean that's about all his defense has to go with. Trying to cause that doubt for an absolute without saying it.
I don’t think so. He’s opportunistic. He’s discarding evidence where he has the opportunity to and where he feels it (and he) won’t be discovered. I don’t think he’s trying to set up Cat, Cress, or Dulce. That would just lead things back to him. He can’t go into public to discard things there are cameras and people everywhere. He figured let me try to dump things on this semi remote farm.
Lawyer said he did not kill his parents...so who then Will he ask the jury to think did?
Also why leave her name on the bag? Could have easily taken it off
One last note: Chandler wasn't that smart. I guess he didn't realize that every rolling trash bin issued (at least in our state) has a serial number engraved into it. The serial number matches up with the address the trash can was delivered to, when registering for trash service and pick up.
His uncle was a cop… not bright at all. My heart broke when the he said he knew exactly when he spoke last to his brother , on July 1st because it was his birthday 😞
Man! What if that one detective hadn't noticed the turkey vultures? I'm a city girl though, so maybe it's just that I wouldn't have noted them and know what it meant.
Clearly, Chandler never watched any TV murder shows. Sheesh.
At 60 + yrs old, ferling 20, i cannot imagine how everyone on this case, who look yrs younger, both the professionals involved and the family, I cannot comprehend how they have managed to behave so impeccably. Love to every single one involved.
Between the courteous judge and that quietly efficient deputy this is better than any of those asmr unboxing videos I’ve seen
This is the best judge I have ever seen in my hundred years of watching true crime
judge got tired of pouring water its in the box now lol
The scary thing about this is that if he had put in more effort he could have gotten away with this pretty easy. If he had taken the time to go to the cabin first he could have planted evidence that something did happen to his parents up there.
Or actually gotten a job at Space X! The energy and commitment to do what he did is superhuman! But, he is a vile animal for what he did.
I think it's funny that the defense was just repeating everything the prosecution said about the tennis shoes they could have said something like maybe they were running shoes and that's why they had debris on them. No body even said whose blood was on the shoes.
First trial I've ever watched, and as it turns out, there's a reason I keep watching: according to the comments, that judge is pretty exceptional 😇 I do find that he runs an orderly courtroom, and despite being controlling and polite, he still comes across as sincere. Oh, 1:03:10 lol, aw, look at that deputy fussing over his moustache and tie, that's cute
The judge in Leticia Stauchs trial was phenomenal!!
Have u watched the Darrelll Brooks trial ? Some people love judge Darrow some hated her. She had a very hard job with that trial.
@@melissa74066 I can't figure why anyone would hate her. Brooks was a nightmare and she handled him perfectly.
I am curious as to why he kept their Drivers License? Theories? Kind of idiotic to keep everything together. 😬🙄🙄
With how lazy that man was, I’m sure he was more preoccupied with cleaning and disposing of the bodies. He hadn’t gotten around to the shoe cell phone drivers license. He might’ve also been planning to send another text to himself before disposing of it maybe but situations changed his probably vague plans
I had a family visit from texas one summer. They had a 8 year old
boy who was spoiled rotten. He was the BOSS. His parents had to take orders
from him!!!! Everyone who met them said that they were creating a monster.
They would laugh off any criticism of their boy!!! When his father would not give him
a $1,000 dollars for a poker game, he killed his father.(The boy was 20 years old
when he was given a life sentence in texas).
This judge is amazing wow!!
I’m curious about what the heck the defendant is writing the whole time during the proceedings? Doodling? Making lists? Journaling??
Usually self soothing rubbish. Acts as a distraction, but yeah, doodles, quotes, things to tell their lawyer etc.
Probably that S we all universally did in our notebooks as kids over and over lol
@@lonelylantern9135 all of the above
@@p.sherman3158Same. All the above...lmbo
I wonder how this Judge would have handled Darrell Brook's trial?
Oh, I wonder about that 2! Or the judge in the Ahmaud Arbery trial! That dude is a stone cold, no nonsense judge, duh-rell would have been intimidated by him for sure and acted accordingly.
He only treated Judge Dorow and Sue Opper the way he did bc they were women. He loathes women..
I wonder if Darrell Brooks would have acted so outrageously with a male judge! He liked to bully women.
Lieutenant the word you're looking for is "Rubbermaid". My husband is a retired Lieutenant, so ty for your service. You appear to be an honorable woman. Ty!
The Judge, the Judge! You all are in love with the Judge. I must say he is lovable. And boy that defense team. They were clutching at straws. So desperate.
Respectful judge thanks
I didn't expect the shed/barn area where the gun was found, to be so large. And certainly didn't expect the amount of clutter in there.
They should be wiping down that witness box and mic after each person to be safe.
The evidence is only the box not the mic people he changed his gloves between the box which is the evidence.
@@Eyerusalem_ she means bc of sickness and germs
Love how they touched the forensic evidence then moved the water pitcher lol
🙄
🤣 Cooties?
I guess I'm just smart. Because at 1:00:13, the officer stated that through his training experience he was able to recognize the large amount of red and brownish substance as potentially being blood. Well, I have zero training and I too was able to recognize this red and brownish substance as potentially being blood. And I'm just a regular guy.
😅
There is a reason he said that
@@p.sherman3158 Just a guess but I'll bet he said it because it could potentially be blood.
@@dbx1233 there is a reason he said it the way he did. 👍🏻
@@p.sherman3158 Would you like to share the reason with the rest of the class?
I thought the lady deputy chewing gum was so unprofessional if they forget they have it once on the stand they should put in the cheek and not chew it. lol.
It was. Incredibly.
I think he must have put all of this evidence on Chris’s farm because he thought he would have more time to slowly get rid of stuff without anyone noticing. Too bad for him Chris & Dolce were on to him. Chis loved that farm and was proud of it. The shed might have looked like a mess but I bet she knew every single thing that was on there.
I can’t stand how the prosecutors never say please when asking the judge to do something. Drives me nuts
They're not allowed to. JK. Note: I never once noticed.
One thing I don’t get is why defence lawyers always stick glasses on their clients, like this guy, Nikolas Cruz got biggg ones going on, like a vision impaired person can’t kill? 🤔🙄
It's to make them look more "innocent" and "scholarly". Same reason they had Jodi Arias dye her blond hair brown and dress conservatively.. So she looked more "wholesome " and therefore less capable of such an atrocious crime. It happens at almost every trial. Everything must be viewed through the lens of the jury and how they'll perceive it.
Omg...I'm getting so sick from this murder case..I feel like throwing up....😭😭😭😭😭😭
Says he got hired at Space X...LOLOLOLOL...I wouldn't hire this guy to pull my weeds in my yard.
