    Thank you so much for sharing. Your life is *almost* mirroring mine exactly. I am also an empath and I've also had to accept the part I played in my own "burnout" (illness). A part of it is lofty ideals for myself, being extremely particular in everything I buy, how I decorate my home, which is definitely draining. I have observed that, while I always had perfectionist tendencies, working in corporate America (especially as a details person) brings this to new heights. Once you are trained to be meticulous, it is nearly impossible not to carry this into your personal life. However, it was also my inability to set boundaries with the people around me. I love that you also touched on the other facets of life, since we are not working in a vacuum. You never know what someone is dealing with in their family life (that a colleague may not be). Our ability to perform at work and manage that stress is impaired when we have too many other things zapping our energy.

    Thanks for sharing. I can relate to your burn out as i am also in the midst of it. As much as i would llike to quit my corporate job which i wish i can, i can't due to so many financial commitments that i have. My hubby has retired and i am the only bread winner. Luckily i do not have any kid. Perhaps that is God's plan from the onset seeing all these that i have to go thru. Yes shopping does give me the therapy but i know that is just a temporary relief. I am now preparing myself financially not to rely on my corporate job only for a sole income thus hopefully i can also walk away and love myself more giving myself another 3 to 4 years or so. Having said that, I have been in the corporate world for at least 3 decades so that is more than enough. Now as you had mentioned, i am taking baby steps to slow down, take care of my health, pay myself first etc. I wish you all the best in your future undertakings. 🤗😍

    Thank you for your thoughts and I appreciate your candor! I am constantly oscillating between duties for my family and duties for my career. I make a good living and a lot of what I can do for my family is tied to my job. When my son was diagnosed with a learning disability, I realized my priorities were wrong and I shifted. This meant a mind shift in my priorities and what I focused on in life. I still struggle with this to this day but I’m no longer looking for the next jump in my career. Now I focus on what is best for my child because that has always been my life priority. My focus is prioritizing him and if that means I can’t get the next promotion or salary increase then so be it- I know my worth and my job is fortunate to have me in this capacity rather than none! Life is an evolving and changing entity and I only hope my situation allows me to evolve with the needs of family!

    I always enjoy your personal story videos, and your financial ones also. I feel I am similar in a small way, ie perfectionism in some areas of my life that, for me, leads to inaction; feeling overwhelm and dissatisfaction. Luckily I am in a financially secure situation and my job is not a stressful one so that is a blessing. However I have been tossing up a decision where my work has offered me to work longer hours for four days and take one day off per week. At first, for whatever reason I can't even articulate, I didn't want to work an extra 50 minutes longer with a half hour lunch break (instead of one hour) - although I have worked longer days in the past. I think it might just have been that change is a little scary sometimes. I've finally realised, what a great opportunity to be able to start exploring other things in life that may bring me joy on those extra days off. I can lean in to friendships that I've only managed to nurture for the odd lunch hour here and there, I can spend more time with my family which, given my age means they won't be around forever - I've just turned 50. And I can start my exercise journey, I'm very interested in getting in to Pilates and there is a studio just up the road for me. I also want to start trying out different sorts of hobbies so that when I am ready to retire I will have something to look forward to, apart from travel which I love. Sorry for the novel but I'm kind of using this comment section as therapy hehe. Anyway thank you for sharing your story. You never know who you may reach! x

    Thank you for discussing two things in your journey that are important. First is to find some quiet time away from your daily routine to really listen to your heart before making such a big decision. Second is to do the math and figure out the practicalities such as finances, savings and health insurance. When I left my job, I knew the regular paycheck will disappear but in my first year without a job, it was still a shock not to get anything after years of regular income. Despite the lack of income, I still feel healthier and less anxious now than when I was working. Also, feeling content make me want less of things I used to focus on.

    Thanks for sharing your personal life ❤ I’ve been experiencing long Covid fatigue for 2 years now (continuing to improve now, with the help of taking time off work) and my fatigue kept getting worse for a year because I didn’t want to slow down or say no (type A personality!) Then I had a rock bottom moment and I realized I needed to listen to my body. Perhaps quite timely and definitely fortunate that my husband had the opportunity to move to Dubai with his company so I used that as my own excuse to justify taking time out! I hope anyone out there has the opportunity to balance their lives in their own way ❤

    • @hellocatwalkcity
      @hellocatwalkcity  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I believe Covid was a significant turning point for many of us in terms of the layers of fatigue placed on those who typically neglect themselves and power through to get duties done. The effects are now being felt… almost like a delayed realization. I’m glad to hear that you’ve been able to have a fresh start in Dubai. Sometimes we need to be forced into rest.

    Thanks for sharing this part of your personal life. I’m still in medical school and already feeling burnout when I’m not even at the final stretch let alone an actual physician yet. 😢it’s hard. Med schools do not care about their students so it’s just hard. You think about how hard it is and also thinking about the daunting student loans you’ll have to pay back. So hearing this, helps. Your voice is so soothing. I think I’m finally going to get a therapist. My background is also in psychology so I too face that arrogance of feeling like, I already know all of these things, why should I get a therapist? Sigh. I’m only 23 and feeling so fed up. I also find that I shop to escape. Escape how I feel and escape reality in general.

    • @AMAM-yf2om
      @AMAM-yf2om 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Being in professional school is stressful and demanding and it's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and burnt out. What you are feeling is more of the norm and not outlier so don't feel like you have to hide your feelings and getting support and therapy is not a sign of weakness. Having hobbies, supportive buddy system and people you can just sound off help you live a "normal" life. Just remember no matter which profession you will work in you will feel burnt out at some point and how you response to that will speak to your resiliency. Even if you work for yourself and being creator or anything else in between you will have stress so do not afraid of it. It is a part of life and so learn to set boundary and deal with it to prevent it over consuming you. Stick in there it will get better and it is still a rewarding profession. Best of luck.

      I have close doctor friends and have also read a lot about the stress and burnout in the medical field in particular. The system is designed unfortunately to push medical students and staff to the brink and so many suffer for it. I love this channel and am so thankful you figured out what was needed as opposed to continuing to fight it. Two things, to the first comment you mentioned, my “typical 9 to 5 job” equated to 70 to 80 hours and often more per week, calls from my Supervisor at all hours of the night (he traveled a lot for work) every single holiday and weekend. I never had a full day with no work. Secondly, I hope you receive this constructively, the written word is so difficult to understand the intention. As a viewer, and maybe I am the only one that feels this way, the flipping back and forth between this important topic and the sponsored content was too jarring for me. I only made it through just over the half way mark, it was just a bit stress inducing for me.

I have a question about the bras that you showed in this video and I wanted to know, when you move around, do they ride up because I usually wore some bras that were similar and they always ride up and you know my boobs come out so they don’t stay in place they keep riding up every time I move so I don’t like stuff like this.
