I really doubt the first 2 days of training broke his body like he said. He destroyed his body far worse than the continuous rolling and body slams he had to do for tryout.

You aren't performing, you are working out, which is a whole different thing. Pain tolerance for a match vs being at your cardio limit tears you down in a very different way
I live only a very short distance from the Performance Center. I’ve had the honor and privilege of bumping into many WWE wrestlers in my day to day life. Many live in my neighborhood or in the adjacent neighborhood. Kevin Steen happens to be one of these wrestlers. I’ve met him several times at school ( our daughters attended the same school) and other neighborhood events . Kevin is by far without a doubt the nicest guy around.. he is an incredible dad and just an all around decent human being… he is great with the kids when he gets recognized. When the camera is off he’s just a short tattooed dad who smiles a lot.
That was amazing promo. Just shows how amazing Kevin owens is now and back then. Always been so good. To do a promo about his best friend Sami Zayn just shows how close the two of them are now and forever amazing. Definitely a hired promo.
The best promos have an air of truth to them and this is a perfect example. Kevin was proud and over the moon for his best friend.. But it's only human nature for him to question himself during it all... Wonder why he wasn't signing a contract as well beside his friend but instead standing and watching his friend succeed where he had yet to. He was out to prove a point.. That he too belonged.. And going after Sami well.. That's just some friendly competition and there's nothing wrong with that...

people failed to noticed that the promo that he had given is not scripted. He goes with the flow and blurred the line between a wrestling character and real life. That's what WWE coaches wanted to see. The ability to push the line to it's almost broke, but still within the wrestling promo act.

I'm really glad WWE is doing cross promotions with TNA. I hope they keep it up because if they do, there might be an opportunity for vets to go over there and do 1 to 3 month programs. Guys like KO might benefit from a change in scenery while not having to permanently sign off on it. I wouldn't mind AJ Styles going over there either...so long as they came back after wrecking the place, of course. :)

I was on the verge of exploding during the whole second have of the show. oh btw, the main event of the night was Kevin Steen vs TNA World Champ AJ Styles. God i loved going to those indy shows
I first saw Kevin when he wrestled for IWS in Montreal and had been following his career since then. From IWS & various indies to ROH to wrestling Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. Great to see how far he's come and the success he's been having.
I have so much respect for Kevin Owens. Here's a guy who's a big guy with heart, passion, and fearlessness that always goes above and beyond sacrificing his body for the fans and entertainment. Always gives 110% with his acrobatic moves, and microphone skills. Just an all around great performer.

The WWE tryout is notoriously hard. They immediately attempt to eliminate those who aren't cut out for it. And I honestly think it is something that many people in the indy scene aren't exactly used to and that's why a lot of people with other sports backgrounds tend to get through, because they are familiar with the grind.

When he showed up on Raw with the NXT title, I was convinced he was as good as he said he was, the way he commanded respect and attention. Like it didn't matter he was on a separate show, he was just as a threat, if not more so. He earned that match with Stone Cold.
