To hard-core Bluegrass folks, this isn't Bluegrass. But to a lot of "casual" Bluegrass fans, it's close enough. I've always kinda liked this song. But my favorite on this album is the opening instrumental "Smoothie Song."

True, but they did originate as Bluegrass musicians. It's definitely Bluegrass influenced.

Gate keeping bullshit. I love bluegrass and while this is the most "pop-like" of their songs, they are a bluegrass band. Call it "newgrass" or whatever other add on you want, but a quartet of a guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and upright bass is a bluegrass band

Nickle Creek doesn't really have a genre. Bluegrass roots w pop/"indie"/singer songwriter influence.
Good song, though.
